Mine is in sad anticipation. I cannot face the day of hearing David Attenborough has died. I honestly think I'll need a day off work

There should be a day of National mourning at the very least!

GellerYeller · 13/11/2025 21:49

George Michael, John Lennon and Kirsty MacColl. All left us at Christmas time too.

JohnBullshit · 13/11/2025 21:49

Paul Ritter.

Thank you
I feel so strongly it's palpable.

Jill Dando. Still find it so weird that someone has got away with murdering someone so well known in broad daylight.

John Smith. What a different direction the Labour Party would have went had he not died.

Jules Bianchi. F1 had just seemed to be so much safer than previously and he was so young. Comes to mind often now when watching as you can see complacency starting to slip back in with the recovery vehicles coming onto track unskirted again.

Oh, yes. Him, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen are my "No, this can't be happening" people.

Bowie. I think that one ripped a tear in the space time continuum. The world has gone to shit since that day.

But the one that really pains me is Anthony Bourdain. He’s why I travel, and why I cook. A huge loss.

UnintentionalArcher · 13/11/2025 21:52

Alan Rickman. It’s the voice.

ShowDownTime · 13/11/2025 21:53

Has anyone said Steve Irwin? That’s the one for me. In terms of the lasting sense of sadness and the sheer misadventure of what happened.

Princess Diana too. I would have dearly loved to see the older version of Diana, and how everything with her sons might have played out differently were she still here.

For me, it will be David Gilmour. I hope it doesn’t happen for many many years but I will be in absolute shreds when that day comes.

I came on here to say this. I'm a friend of the family. It's shortly to be 14 years.

SapphireSeptember · 13/11/2025 21:57

The deaths of Chester Bennington, Alan Rickman, Louise Rennison and Deric Longden all made me cry.

Maggie Smith and Angela Lansbury, because I thought they'd go on forever.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 13/11/2025 21:57

Ohhh - another Deric Longden fan!

Barton10 · 13/11/2025 21:58

George Michael and Victoria Wood

Absolutely

I want Simon and Garfunkel to live forever. Never want to hear of their deaths.

Happy to see all the Victoria Wood love on here!

Her writing was superb, especially for those of us who grew up in the NW, her ability to capture phrases and characterisations from that area was fantastic. The big question though is surely 'Can sperm get through a sash window?'. We saw her at the Octagon in Bolton in early '80s, we left the theatre, collected two sleeping children from my parent's house, drove down to Felixstowe and were still laughing about her show when we got onto the ferry!
I was speechless in '84 , I think, when I saw that Richard Burton was dead, his voice was beautiful, he would have been 100 this week!

George Michael and I will miss his music and showmanship forever.

Same.

shhblackbag · 13/11/2025 22:03

Carrie Fisher, my space princes.
Ozzy hit hard, too.

Hello! 👋🏻
Bill Turnbull dying made me sad as well. I used to love watching BBC Breakfast when he was on, he seemed like such a lovely gentle man.

YorkshireLawyer · 13/11/2025 22:12

Not a celebrity as such, but I always find the death of Eric Clapton’s son very distressing.
