Satsuma watch

WHERE ARE THE SATSUMAS?? I’ve been looking for a couple of weeks ans they usually appear at the end of October, but there are none to be found in Aldi, Waitrose or Co-op. I remember there not being any around last year either so suspect that this is all down to bloody Brexit. And, no, tangerines or clementines or “easy peelers” are not an acceptable substitute.

Has anyone spotted any? They are my favourite fruit and I look forward to them all year.

Morrisons!

I had some delivered last Saturday.

ICantBeDoingWithThat · 13/11/2025 17:38

Sainsbury's. They also have the very best big fat dates!

lostintranslation148 · 13/11/2025 17:43

Satsumas are the only oranges i eat. One of the best things about Christmas. Except when they're watery and tasteless.

My son got some from Aldi, not as good as the ones I remember from childhood Lol. Our local market has them in too

Oneearringlost · 13/11/2025 17:57

None in Tesco!
I want the "flump, flump" , explosion of juice, not the "rasp, rasp" chew of the "easy peeler"
Urghh!

PracticalPixie · 13/11/2025 17:59

I hate satsumas. Mandarins and clementines foreveeeeeeeerrrrr! <runs and hides>

ArtyShmarty · 13/11/2025 18:02

Was I the only one who thought something like this?

Sainsbury’s have them and I got some in Waitrose and M&S. Hate easy peelers…it’s not like a tangerine/satsuma is hard to peel!

Shocking intrusion into a thread of sane people with good taste. Satsumas are by a country mile the best citrus fruit. I got two nets from Ocado this morning <punches the air>. Sainsbury's often have them when nobody else does, round here anyway. One of the last remaining seasonal treats.

RuncibleSpoons · 13/11/2025 18:15

I thought it was just me!

I will only eat satsumas and only from M&S.

All of those other mealy imposters can get in the bin.

Wolbutter · 13/11/2025 18:16

I don't mind a proper clementine but satsumas are the absolute best. Love the ones with a slight green tinge but inside they're all tasty and lovely! They've been oos every time I've tried to get them on Ocado. And I couldn't agree more about "easy peelers". What even are they?

Blingismything · 13/11/2025 18:20

My M&S had them today. Pale orange peel.

LittleGreenDuck · 13/11/2025 18:20

Satsumas are definitely the kings of citrus. Sainsburys have them.

I agree about "Easy Peelers", just call them clementines or whatever they are. Nobody calls bananas Bendy Yellows.

Brenda34 · 13/11/2025 18:23

Lumping easy peelers and satsumas together is like saying kiwi fruit and golden kiwi fruit are interchangeable! It's just nonsense.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 13/11/2025 18:29

I found some delicious ones in small Sainsburys in cornwall at half term. Back home and my local Sainsburys doesn’t stock them!

Wjdbxb · 13/11/2025 19:10

My people! Thank you so much for responding! Satsumas are definitely the superior orange type fruit.

No Sainsbury's or Morrisons near me. I may make a pilgrimage to the local M&S food hall tomorrow morning to see if they have any.

I agree with everyone - I love satsumas and look forward to them arriving. I also love kiwi berries but I find them a bit harder to get every year

ShatParp · 13/11/2025 19:57

Now this is the kind of thread I can get behind!!! None in Lidl here but am going to try Sainsbury's based on this thread! 🙌

donttellmewhaticantdo · 13/11/2025 20:01

I saw some in Tesco this morning but they looked awful and were reduced. I love the clementines and go through about 3 bags of them a week! But haven't found any good looking ones yet.

BrieAndChilli · 13/11/2025 20:08

Bloody love satsumas. Wouldnt eat a satsuma or tangerine or easy peeler if you paid me. They taste totally different and i cant believe anyone can think they all taste the same…. Side eyes DH.

BrieAndChilli · 13/11/2025 22:17

The above should say wouldnt eat clementine or tangerine!!

Cornishbelle · 13/11/2025 22:23

Satsumas are the absolute beat! I always used to get one in my stocking and spend ages eating each individual segment, even peeling the skin off each piece and eating the juicy bits inside- would take me an hour! 🤣

EnchantingDecoration · 13/11/2025 22:25

Sainsburys have had them for the last month or so but I had some when they first appeared and they weren't great, definitely a bit past their best and dry, bitter and didn't keep long. Maybe I need to try again.

Barefootinthecarpark · 13/11/2025 22:28

You people have made me so happy.

My absolute favourite satsuma is one that is slightly underripe, has a green tinge and is sour enough to make your eyes wince!

Now, that’s Christmas!

Jigglypuff33 · 13/11/2025 22:28

Asda and aldi have them and Asda also has russet apples. Can get cox apples in both.
