hiddenbooks.nationalbooktokens.com/
It's time 🎵🎶 well nearly, 2 hours and change until it drops. It should be 10.30.
Its my favourite time of year but as usual I will probably be useless and depend heavily on mumsnetters for help to decipher.

I searched and couldn't find another thread if there's one already up and running ill delete this.

Edited for proper link

Finished here too. Thanks for all the tips and extra clues, some of them were especially obscure this year. I tried every permutation of "Czech mate" before getting the mug one. Would never have got there without you all!

I googled, and tried Zwischenzug!

Seemed as likely as some of the others :)

I always think Hidden Books is the real start of Christmas. Most annoyed with myself for how long I took to get the girl in her pyjamas, that's one of my favourite books. Feeling very smug that I seem to have got the picture and the seasons more easily than lots of other people. Still annoyed about the computer, I've never even heard of the book. Although they had a similarly fiendish clue for a similar type of book a few years ago but it was,a much more famous example of that type of book (don't want togive too many clues).

Teaandbiscuits000 · 16/11/2025 22:52

Can someone please give me a better clue to the cat one.
I can get it at all. It’s the last one I need to get. Thanks

Teaandbiscuits000 · 16/11/2025 22:54

Just got it. How frustrating, I typed in the word lots of times and it didnt tell me I was close. It’s The <clue>

Double check you’ve got the name of the book you were putting in for the arm correct - for some reason it didn’t like accepting my answer for that and it sounds like you may be thinking of the same one.

You’re almost there with “the sea” books, but try it twice.

Thanks - got it almost by accident!

You’re overthinking it - what do you call a veggie?

Dragonstoner · 18/11/2025 10:40

Just finished it, thanks to all your clues on the calendar one ... Just a warning, I'm SURE I tried those words days ago and didn't get the 'nearly' reaction! And I'd never heard of the book! Great fun tho. Very satisfying!

Mothership4two · 18/11/2025 10:52

I think this one was a bit glitchy @Dragonstoner . I was so sure of the tattoo one that I cut and pasted my answer and it took several goes.

What are the fruits on the blanket?

thetemptationofchocolate · 18/11/2025 11:36

The laptop is a memoir by someone famous for computing and being very rich.

For the laptop think of a homophone. It is basically say what you see and also the name of a film.

Think about the pictures on the blanket, it's a children's book.

boiledkettleandscones · 18/11/2025 17:58

@SaratogaFilly Thank you!! I was definately over thinking it....

Done now though!!

What are books doing in relation to the tree? How might you describe that type of movement pattern?

TBH I only got this one because I had read it. Really difficult word to get from the clues. It won lots of prizes last year. Beside the point but I ctually found it a bit dull

The mug is a book by someone who's novel about 'ordinary folk' was a very popular TV adaptation a couple of years ago. It is a chess term, an alternative to the term Zwischenzug.

The river is in the dark but it is somewhere else too, it's not on the land where you would expect it to be.

Boudy · 19/11/2025 20:38

Thank you @WarrenTofficier I tried the ordinary folk one as thought by femsle I rish author but no go. Will keep trying! Thank you
