What will Starmer do if Huntingdon...

Stabbing turns out to be terror related or in a similar vein to incident to recent incidents that were related to immigration ? We don't know the identities yet of the perpetrators. But the fact the Home Secretary is brought in to comment in tabloids and the discussion on LK on BBC today makes me worried its a possibility. The poor people on the train - I cannot even imagine .. ..Starmer needs to tackle knife crime as its rife. What is the answer ? When is there a tipping point ? I don't know but something must be done - I've never paid as much attention other than feeling so terribly sorry for any victims and families. Now I'm starting to get angry when I see anything like this

So someone migrating here from America is still American even if they apply for British citizenship because that's where they were born.

In the context of that poster’s question, yes. They had argued that the children of immigrants wouldn’t be British were they then born here, either. They absolutely would.

We’ve known several people over the years who have obtained British citizenship and tbh, they still considered themselves as American, Australian and Hong King Chinese. They very much considered their children to be British, though.

Well, don't be so falsely emotionalised. The two men were once migrants without documents from another country/s - it is absolutely the same case

No it really Is not the same case but that was not my point in the first place.

So when a white person commits a terrible crime other white people's lives go on as normal-when it's a Black person other Black people get told there's something wrong with their community?

Is that true?

Soham led to the DBS system & wider child protection/safeguarding changes.

Dunblane led to stricter gun laws as did Hungerford.

Harold Shipman results in changes to parts of healthcare eg death certs

I’d also like to remember the case of Victoria Climbié. This changed safeguarding frameworks everywhere through the Lord Laming Inquiry and updated legislation.

For those who don’t remember or it was before their time, Victoria Adjo Climbié was Ivorian and only eight when she was tortured and murdered in 2000 by her great-aunt and partner.

The ramifications were huge across the board, rightly so.

Having said that, I do think the UK needs a very honest discussion about whether that same robustness of response would happen today.

As England has a predominance of white people then yes the majority of crime is committed by white British people. However it’s impossible to say what factor ethnicity plays in crime as the police do not currently record or report it as part of crime statistics. It may well be that certain ethnicities are over represented for certain types of crime, it’s important information to have particularly for prevention.

You won’t be able to have any sort of conversation about this.

In America, black people are only 13% of the population yet commit over half the murders, and we still cannot have a productive conversation on this. Do they even release the ethnic breakdown of violent criminals in the UK?

No I’ve just watched you descend from blaming all immigrants to being openly racist when, yet again, you’ve been proven wrong on the identity of the attacker

You haven’t ‘watched’ anything.

I haven’t speculated they have MH issues, as you did. Nor that they’re county lines. I answered a question you asked and now you’re going on the attack.

You need to step back and read posts.

I hope you never have to flee a war torn nation and only take what you have with you.

I'd be grabbing my passport/ID as well as my iPhone.

Sobering. My Dad was the manager of a city centre bookshop. When they got bomb threats (pretty common at one point) he and his staff were also expected to search the shop, which meant pulling books off each shelf. I was in my teens and I remember being very frightened by all of this.

The idea that all was quiet and calm in the 1970s is laughable. We also had the Cold War and the ever present threat of nuclear war.

Reminds me of this (image will show up in a few seconds).

I worked for the civil service in the late 80s and clearly remember having to check incoming post for signs of bombs. Greasy marks, wires etc. I also remember raised threat levels after the Admiral Duncan bombing because of the nature of the place I worked at at the time.

Well that has little relevance here. These two men were British born.

My reply was to a pp talking about immigration and not the events of last night.

It’s absolutely terrifying. People wonder how hitler and the Nazis got into power, but then you see thinking like this being cited as being the norm.

On the other thread we had a number of posters calling for the boats to be bombed... i reported, MN didn't take down, calling for mass murder of migrants has become the norm.... Lest We Forget....

If you had one. Not sure how many rural Afghans or Sudanese people have the wherewithal to acquire one.
Most of us have absolutely no notion of the incredibly basic nature of daily life in such places.

In all seriousness I was thinking next election I will vote Reform

Actually as my nickname shows, I hate Farage, however now start seeing the logic - PLEASE DO VOTE FOR THEM.

More British? Seriously? More British than someone who can trace their lineage to these isles from the 1600s?

Some say 1945. Others say 1900.

I dont consider myself to be anything apart from an ordinary British person going about my daily life. I have never had any issues as both myself and my DC are blond and blue eyed, and I've had some "nice" people telling me "but you are British, you are one of us" - doubt they would have said it if I had different colouring.

I had a discussion recently with a friends who's very aware he has descended form the Huguenots. Should he be considering himself French, not English? What about Black people who's ancestry goes back hundreds of years? What about Indian families who came here 2 centuries ago? I'm very aware some people have the opinion you can't be English if you are not white - which is a definition of racism for me.

It makes me so scared for the future of this country.

I don’t know until further details are released when I was listening to the eye witnesses they all kept using similar working “ people came running down saying he was stabbing “
only one man was tasered.

Or, scared 'little people' sick and tired of these frequent atrocities that are usually caused by people with fucked up ideologies. We aren't allowed to say that though because the government tells us to be quiet.

I don’t like people vandalising places by painting flags on them, shouting at hotel or rioting in the street that are carried out by people with fucked up ideologies.

But we’re not allowed to be scared by that. Because then they claim we hate Britain.

And loads of posters were apparently fine with it too.

two black males are supposedly the perpetrators. If it was a white person we would have had their photos by now. Same thing happened with Southport. I say this as a half Indian woman. I can’t believe how passive every govt has been. The country has been going to shit for the last few years. We need something seismic to take back control. But no one seems to care.

YES, you are right

Gloriia · 02/11/2025 15:17

'find it hard to believe this attack does not have a terrorist motive'

It doesn't matter what the reason is really, atrocities are just becoming the norm.

It's a cultural thing some people carry knives and we are seeing more and more attacks. Police need to increase stop and search, communities need to report incitement on sm and by that I don't mean people like Lucy cConnelly but those who are actually demonstrating their desire to cause harm.

I very much doubt that these 2 attempting murder were unknown to either the Police or some kind of service provider.

Four lines of our family tree go back to the early/mid 1600s in England and Scotland. One of them swung off to Jamaica which means I have a 9x black great grandfather. I suspect some people on this thread would consider me not British enough!

WishinAndHopin · 02/11/2025 15:18

Even if it's not specifically Islamic terrorism (still a possibility), a planned mass murder on a train is definitely terrorism, and there will be a good reason the police are refusing to release the attacker's identities.

Probably anti-white racism.
