What will Starmer do if Huntingdon...

Stabbing turns out to be terror related or in a similar vein to incident to recent incidents that were related to immigration ? We don't know the identities yet of the perpetrators. But the fact the Home Secretary is brought in to comment in tabloids and the discussion on LK on BBC today makes me worried its a possibility. The poor people on the train - I cannot even imagine .. ..Starmer needs to tackle knife crime as its rife. What is the answer ? When is there a tipping point ? I don't know but something must be done - I've never paid as much attention other than feeling so terribly sorry for any victims and families. Now I'm starting to get angry when I see anything like this

I'm here - and British born is cited but heritage is still immigrants - same as Axel R (at least one of them anyway). As one poster earlier up said its mire nuanced than saying someone is British born ! That literally means nothing. We will soon hear about their backgrounds, etc. And I'll be very happy if I'm wrong . However my post was wider than just this issue - further down I spoke about knife crime in general and regardless of immigration status the government don't tackle it strongly as they might be worried that it will be perceived as racist. The press conference went exactly as many of us have expected

Police said the 32-year-old man is a black British national and the 35-year-old is a British national of Caribbean descent.

Per the BBC

So where are all the posters on the last thread who were calling for the bombing of migrant boats? Why have they gone quiet?

And everyone who is calling for more police? Well how is that going to be funded? If you put up taxes then everyone complains.

Yes, but a Reform government will lower taxes and improve public services by introducing Doge UK, which will save billions of pounds. Apparently.

cardibach · 02/11/2025 13:47

We don’t know what it is and the police have said it’s not helpful to speculate. However, psychosis isn’t the only mental health condition.

Psychosis is by far the most common. I have never heard of two suspects timing their psychosis and for them both to feel the urge to kill innocent people, it sounds incredibly unlikely and not especially plausible.

It’s just as possible the British nationals have been radicalised.

WonderfulSmith · 02/11/2025 13:51

Do we know the two people were working together? No. We know there were two people. One could have been having a psychotic episode and the other could have been a friend trying to stop him. Just because they’ve both been arrested it doesn’t mean they both did it.

PeopleWatching17 · 02/11/2025 13:51

Whyandwhenandwho · 02/11/2025 09:52

Well... stop and search no matter what. Increase it and pay no attention to the views that minorities are targeted. This is about safety not racism. Really tackle immigration - honestly - it should be women and kids mostly immigrating if its that bad but it's mostly young men - blows my mind other than perhaps women being oppressed (in which case we should not want people with those views entering anyway ). Assimilation programmes - en masse. If you are a migrant and we allow you to stay you go through rigorous assimilation. Help and firm reviews /monitoring of their job status . Well... these things cost money though and have to weigh up the benefits vs just saying no to immigration (that is not economic and controlled via visas etc)

Stop and search who? Anyone with brown skin?

For crying out loud the police have said it’s not terror related!!!!

HPFA · 02/11/2025 13:51

We don't even know what the charges will be.

Two people were arrested for the Soham murders but only one was actually charged with murder.

I guess that's another crime that "didn't happen" in the past. Like Dunblane. Or Whitehaven. What was different about the perpetrators I wonder?

This doesn’t fit their narrative so they’re not interested

And if you sell off the NHS then we can easily afford more police. Silly me.

You have a strong narrative based on pretty much nothing, why?

I was replying to the OP who was suggesting that British born is all we knew about their backgrounds

Do people think the police would lie? If they say it's not terror related then surely we should be able to accept that? People who don't want to believe that will believe what they want anyway.

You can have a mental health condition which isn’t psychosis which could lead to violence. Paranoia, for example.
Not speculating that’s what it is, we have no idea. But violence from MH conditions doesn’t necessarily mean psychosis.

MyNimbleBrickCritic · 02/11/2025 13:53

cardibach · 02/11/2025 13:28

I was responding to what you said in response to this But it is related to immigration at some point. These aren't white British perpetrators
That post read very much as though anyone not white was also not British. Of course the experience of different sub groups within the category of British differs. It doesn’t make any of the groups less British.
If that’s not what you were implying, apologies.

My apologies too if I came across badly. Which it seems I did.

I was responding to all the posts claiming 'nothing to do with immigration, they're British' when its much more complex than that when we've already been told the men arrested aren't White-British.

When we know that race and immigration increases the risk of radicalisation and disparities in virtually everything we can think of in regards to socio-economic status and lived experiences.

WeCouldBeNiceToEachOther · 02/11/2025 13:51

For crying out loud the police have said it’s not terror related!!!!

They won’t know that yet. They will have days if not weeks of investigations to do first. They will have to trawl through mountains of digital evidence alone, house searches and work places ( if they have jobs) and a long long list of other avenues to build a case, and establish a motive.

I agree with your point though.

They said “at this stage”.

Still could be anything, really, and we won’t know until the police themselves say more.

So two men with paranoia? A mass stabbing due to this.

He's probably pissed off that he's being disturbed about the same old same old.

He'll talk some BS that he thinks will make Jo Public believe he's being sincere, but reality is he probably doesn't give a shit who gets hurt, murdered or raped as long as it's not members of his own family.

Why do people say nonsense like this? Name any recent Prime Minister who would have responded differently. What do you do to try to make the world a better place, by the way?

Yes it’s all one great conspiracy and all the brown people are nasty rotten terrorists and we should shut our borders immediately

(sarcasm, for those who can’t tell)

Because unassimilated groups lead to ethnic enclaves that continue practices that are not compatible with Western civilization.

Because you’ve not done the work of assimilating them (and maybe it’s not possible. Which then you have to admit to and act accordingly)

We have no idea of the perpetrators' heritage other than that they were both black. For all we know, their parents were of the Windrush generation. Your statement sounds a bit 'you're not from around here, are you?'.

And obviously stabbing people isn't compatible with any kind of civilisation, but beyond that we don't know that these two people were into any kind sof 'practices'.
