Stabbing turns out to be terror related or in a similar vein to incident to recent incidents that were related to immigration ? We don't know the identities yet of the perpetrators. But the fact the Home Secretary is brought in to comment in tabloids and the discussion on LK on BBC today makes me worried its a possibility. The poor people on the train - I cannot even imagine .. ..Starmer needs to tackle knife crime as its rife. What is the answer ? When is there a tipping point ? I don't know but something must be done - I've never paid as much attention other than feeling so terribly sorry for any victims and families. Now I'm starting to get angry when I see anything like this

I read - but didn’t comment on - the main thread from last night. I hope the posters on there who were convinced it was a migrant crime take heed, but suspect they won’t.

Sadly the political spin on migrants (which does need addressing - I’m certainly not denying that) is driven by Reform as this is their ‘in’. They have found the British public’s weak spot to be manipulated and are going for it - for all those who watched Question Time last Thursday you will have seen how all Matt Goodwin wanted to do was bring up crime statistics connected to migrants. I live close to an affluent town in the South East - a few weeks ago a 14 year old girl was SA walking home at 8pm. The perpetrator was white and local.

I am also close to one of the proposed army barracks that has been ear marked to take a large number of male, unprocessed boat arrivals. It has caused absolute outrage - for reasons that I do understand; they will be free to leave the barracks and spend time in a small town with few facilities spending on average - government estimate! - 90 days here. As much as I appreciate people’s concerns, the vitriol and anger of the town’s residents has, IMHO, been really scary. Men telling women to ‘go die your stupid b*tch’ and other such joys. In fact women being equally vile to other women. And four times in the last three days, an ad for the local branch of Reform has appeared in my Facebook feed - each time, I hit the ‘I do not want to see this’ button but it keeps coming back… Reform also organised a ‘town information meeting’ which was heavily attended.

So whilst migrants are a huge issue that do need to be dealt with, I am terrified by the power that Reform is wielding by using migrants as a catalyst. Perhaps more of us should be re-reading history in 1920s Bavaria and Germany…

I have not seen any since the government allowed the companies to cut train security officers so that they are only on the platforms and can board at a station/stop, not the trains as they travel.

As an NHS worker I will be preparing job applications before the next election. I have no doubt that Reform will dismantle the NHS.

Pepper spray, tasers, batons, handcuffs. Trained in hand to hand restraint. Trained in evacuating passengers and barricading off any attackers between carriages.
Have direct communication to driver and police so the train can be stopped sooner.

I’d be pretty disappointed if he came out with a fully formed and funded plan for dealing with ‘this’ right now. At this point they’ll be making sure the victims are safe, interviewing and trying to piece together their intel and their evidence.

Just feel for those people on the train. Absolutely horrific.

I doubt the media is using it in the technical sense, you often see national used interchangeably with citizen.

Is it possible a someone tried to attack the attacker with a knife of their own. The authorities then use it to dilute and minimise the Police statement for social cohesion? It’s very much a mystery at the moment but it wasn’t that long a train and all the eye witnesses are saying one attacker. I am really curious about this second attacker. Obviously this will all come out. I just hope it’s not a rerun of Southport as it just gets insulting.

It means nothing to me that the police are saying they are British Nationals, because that doesn't imply loyalty to our country anymore.

So in around 15 hours the police have gone through these men's lives with a fine tooth comb and declared its not terror related. Strange,dont you think?
