I wish they were banned except for official displays.

Every night this week someone down my street has let them off.Tonight my neighbour is letting off huge ones and it sounds like we are under attack. They didn't have the consideration to warn anyone.

The dog is a quivering mess, and the cat is awol, and my elderly neighbour with dementia is terrified. 😟

I just wish the general public couldn't buy them!

Well, nor do fireworks.

And your evidence for that is what exactly? I have already said that our house was shaking with the force of some of the fireworks from a local public display on Saturday. We don't live that close. If you live around the park there's no doubt that there would be damage (we also get helicopters flying over which make everything shake).

I have never heard of anyone's property being destroyed by fireworks

Not destroyed but certainly damaged. Especially if people start throwing them around.

Ah, MN fireworks threads. The nights close in and the threads burst out.

Anyway, my new annual habit will be, starting now, to post about how laughable it is that dog owners complain about public nuisance caused by others.

Fireworks are a few days each year. Dogs shit on the streets, and everywhere else public, every single day. Dogs bark all year round. People’s lives are made a misery by dogs all the time.

Get to fuck with complaints about fireworks upsetting your hounds.

I guess you feel the same about wildlife, very young children, ND children, people with dementia and anyone else who doesn't like them.

It's more a case of where is your evidence?

Even you can't show there is any evidence of walls being cracked. It is just hyperbole.

I can (anecdotally) say I've never heard of the noise from fireworks causing cracks in any building in my 6+decades, either amongst the many thousands of people I've known in that time, or on the news, or in any articles in newspapers, magazines or on line. If this were a things that happens when there are public firework displays, it would have hit the media by now.

We have helicopters over our house on a regular basis, and again, have never had, nor heard anyone mention, 'walls shaking'. It can wake you up in the small hours as it can be noisy when hovering.

I suggest the really worrying state of your house might be something you need to look in to.
