Do you do ‘girl dinner’?

I mean just having snacky things instead of dinner if you find yourself not having partner/kids to feed.

I do it whenever possible - if it’s only me (and it doesn’t happen that much) I will have something like a few cornichons, slice of ham, chunk of cheese, few cherry tomatoes and a handful of nuts. All eaten standing up at the fridge/counter. No washing up. No prep time. Love it.

Was talking to a friend recently and she said if she ever has to only feed herself she will still do a proper dinner and sit down at the table to eat it. Can’t think of anything worse myself.

Maybe I’m just fed up of constantly feeding everyone.

Anyway today DH and DC have been out at an all day thing and have eaten on the way home and I’ve just had half a tub of olives, few slices of salami and a stack of Pringles and couldn’t be happier.

It started as a hashtag for people who post their meals on socials.

It just means what you eat when you're alone.

It's really not that deep.

But this is MN - nothing can be fun and lighthearted around here 😉

If dh is out or away, I often have fish fingers (5 mins in the microwave) and baked beans,

Mental isn't it

I see so many conversations or turns of phrase on here that I think are inane, childish, cringey...

I just scroll on and forget about it within 30 seconds instead of taking time out of my day to kick a lump out of a stranger on the web for enjoying something I personally don't, that harms nobody.

Oh ffs. Nobody is kicking lumps out of anyone. I'd never even heard the phrase before and just found it really weird that food would be gendered! But it comes from TikTok, not much on there makes sense to me. Clearly I'm an auld crone these days!
