Home alone - what would you have for tea?

I could have leftovers (lamb meatballs and macaroni cheese) .... but they aren't calling to me.

Any suggestions - what would you have? (no allergies - no dislikes apart from liver).

granola, Greek yoghurt, honey drizzled and lots of raspberries and blueberries

BerolDryWipe · 21/10/2025 13:23

My go to when home alone is a crisp sandwich 😳and lots of chocolate and milk.

MiddleAgedDread · 21/10/2025 13:23

Cheese on toast or Welsh rarebit.

sourdough toast, smashed avocado, poached egg and a rasher of bacon

spaghetti with chilli, garlic and prawns

steak, chips and blue cheese with peas and onion rings

fish pie - no one else eats it

gravadlax and rye bread.

weetabix with brown sugar

a big bag of crisps

a packet of Jaffa cakes

sodifficult1 · 21/10/2025 13:24

I often stir fry what ever veg I have and some noodles, maybe a sauce but often just some garlic and a splash of soy sauce

Twoshoesnewshoes · 21/10/2025 13:26

Baba ganouch on toast
dahl ready meal side with naan
crisps
bran flakes

Canicule · 21/10/2025 13:32

Prawns in some form, probably a lovely 1970s style prawn cocktail 😋

And a packet of jaffa cakes, as I see PP has mentioned them above so now they're stuck in my head!

mamaduckbone · 21/10/2025 13:34

A jacket potato with cheese.
Or mushroom risotto if I could be bothered to cook it.

Both things that no one else in the house would want but that I love.

Letsskidaddle · 21/10/2025 13:42

All the things we’re not meant to eat too much of 😂 Chocolate, cake, desserts for starters!

Or toast and jam - I love it when it’s only me for tea.

LindorDoubleChoc · 21/10/2025 13:50

I'm home alone tonight and am having M&S four cheese ravioli ready meal, which is just delicious.

BadActingParsley · 21/10/2025 13:50

Ooh mushroom risotto - I have some home made chicken stock so that could work. Might bake it in the oven though as not sure I can be arsed to stand over it.

Or a big prawn stirfry with lots of ginger....

MIght just do boiled eggs and toast - as that wouldn't be classed a 'tea worthy' by anyone else normally in the house.

Did you see the phase or meme thing around "Girl Dinner" a year or two back? It was celebrating what 20/30-something women cobble together as snack plates or meals, without involving proper cooking. Things like crackers, cured meat, cheese, olives. But could equally involve turkey dinosaurs. Your own personal picky tea of whatever you fancy.

Charlie Bingham fish pie and peas. DH hates fish, so this is my favourite if I'm home alone.

3luckystars · 21/10/2025 14:21

Toast !!

AphroditesSeashell · 21/10/2025 14:22

Chicken Caesar salad, fries and a tall soda/lime with tonnes of ice.

AtleastitsnotMonday · 21/10/2025 14:27

Proper nicoise with tuna steak

MinnieMountain · 21/10/2025 14:29

Mild goats cheese, red onion relish and crackers.

Or a ready made fish pie.

Mintearo7 · 21/10/2025 14:30

My go to for 1 is salmon fillet. Marinade in soy sauce, ginger, honey, etc, or just do in a parchment with a bit of seasoning in the oven. Then add noodles/rice/potatoes and whatever veg.

Dally100 · 21/10/2025 14:31

Toasted cheese and baked beans. Easy and yum!

guestofclanmackenzie · 21/10/2025 14:31

My favourite Charlie Bingham meal.

BiddyPopthe2nd · 21/10/2025 14:48

Last night, I couldn’t face cooking so made myself prawns in proper Marie Rose sauce (hellmans, ketchup, 3 drops Tabasco, squeeze of lime juice, sprinkle of paprika) and avocado.

Tonight, I know I need proper food and some veg, so I am roasting 2 chicken thighs (I may put some diced feta from the jar in the fridge under the skin with some thyme leaves - or just season with some salt) with some mixed Mediterranean veggies and diced potatoes (lovely red skinned ones that I don’t need to peel).

Baked feta with cherry tomatoes is something else I am looking forward to this week.

And I brought back a good steak with me when I was visiting home at the weekend (meat here is not great) so I will do that with some sautéed mushrooms in a pan or proper portobello mushrooms baked with blue cheese and either oven chips or duck fat roasties.

(many nights I am rummaging for leftovers on the freezer to reheat - I just happen to be having a “I need proper food” week).

BiddyPopthe2nd · 21/10/2025 14:50

Or the other one I am thinking of from the freezer is a piece of salmon with a good spoon of pesto over the top and a small sprinkle of mozarella or Parmesan that is baked until golden. Soft enough to just have with fresh crusty bread if you cannot be arsed with potatoes or rice.

Chelsea26 · 21/10/2025 14:54

I was on my own for the first time in ages last week and I had some frozen itsu dumplings with soy and sweet chilli dipping sauce and then half a tub of taramasalata with a pitta bread. It was great!!

MuddlingThroughLife · 21/10/2025 14:59

Chicken or vegetable biriani from local takeaway and poppadoms delivered to me in my pj's 😊
