Home alone - what would you have for tea?

I could have leftovers (lamb meatballs and macaroni cheese) .... but they aren't calling to me.

Any suggestions - what would you have? (no allergies - no dislikes apart from liver).

Probably a jacket potato with lots and lots of butter, cheddar and baked beans with coleslaw on the side. My husband doesn’t mind jacket potatoes, but doesn’t like them as much as I do, and considers them to be more of a lunch thing than dinner.

Or, garlic prawns with noodles.

BadActingParsley · 21/10/2025 15:13

baked camembert with crusty bread is now calling to me ... but I'd have an awful migraine afterwards!

Summer - olives, home made bread, cheese and a glass of wine.

Winter - cajun bean soup, home made bread and a glass of wine.

🙄

What on earth is your problem??!

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 21/10/2025 17:13

I would buy a dresser crab and mix it into linguine with a bit of olive oil and some pepper

secureyourbook · 21/10/2025 17:20

My go to tea when I’m home alone is a fish finger (grilled with melted cheese on top) sandwich with tartare sauce and salad leaves.

ACatAsleepInYourHat · 21/10/2025 17:21

Blimey, some impressive meals there! I’m on my own tonight, I’ve just had my tea, and it was baked beans on toast with grated cheese and two poached eggs on top. This was my go-to meal many years ago when I had a spell on unemployment benefit, and I still turn to it now and again.

notatinydancer · 21/10/2025 17:21

I’ve just had a sausage roll , salad, coleslaw and beetroot.

FurForksSake · 21/10/2025 17:24

@secureyourbook i thought you were going to be accused of bent a teeny tiny eating a single fish finger!

GameOfJones · 21/10/2025 17:26

I don't have an evening to myself very often so when I do and DH is out I like to have something that he doesn't like but I love.

My go to is baked camembert with baguette and onion chutney. Or I'll do one of those packets of gnocchi with a quick sauce made from mushrooms, cream and a bit of stilton.

If I really can't be arsed I like chips topped with beans and cheese and some garlic mayo on the side! It reminds me of ordering from a food van after a night out when I was a student.

Basically whatever I choose involves carbs and cheese..... 🤣

cornbunting · 21/10/2025 17:31

I'd get some really really good bread and make a tuna sandwich. I love a tuna sandwich.

CoastalCalm · 21/10/2025 18:39

Soup dumplings from the freezer or dimsum with XO sauce

Inthesearch · 21/10/2025 18:43

Itsu Gyoza from the freezer section (make the dipping sauce recipe from the back!) and some stir fried tender stem broccoli
Or lots of chopped fresh tomatoes (not cooked) stirred into hot spaghetti with a glug of olive oil and s&p

Disturbia81 · 21/10/2025 18:59

Is it just me who always eats whatever I want with a partner there or not..

TheChosenTwo · 21/10/2025 19:02

Usually nothing as I’m lazy when it comes to cooking, I hate the mess it creates so if on the rare event I’m home alone I have a big lunch and skip dinner.
If I had the inclination I’d do myself a Welsh rarebit.

ImWearingPantaloons · 21/10/2025 19:03

I live with someone with a nut and shellfish allergy so my go to is either nut roast or prawn and chilli linguine

user1476613140 · 21/10/2025 19:04

Baked potato with cheese and coleslaw. Or with baked beans and grated cheese!

BadActingParsley · 21/10/2025 19:09

I made Kofte, tzaziki and pita breads with a Greek salad.

MagicLoop · 21/10/2025 19:11

Hmmm... something comfort-foodish and very low effort but not a ready meal. Probably pasta or gnocchi with peas and fresh pesto. Or a cheese omelette, salad and chips.
