When my children were little I hated talking to other Mums about our children. It always seemed to be competitive but in a polite humble brag kind of way and usually made me feel shit about my own parenting. This may have been a reflection on the friends I had at the time.

People who moan about TV programmes they don't like/watch.

I have a friend who loves talking to people about what drives them to succeed, and it drives me mental

House renovations and refurbs. Unfortunately I find middle class get togethers, parties and nights out and overwhelmingly dominated by discussions about their renos. The only detail they casually miss out is where they got the 150k it cost from....and that's the only part I want to know about 😂

I don’t want to talk about myself. I’d much rather talk about politics or other topics that are not about me .

Absolutely. I have one lovely friend who does this. I get lost with who's who and how she knows them and what it is about their life that I must know. I know she does it about me, too to them because her friends tell me 'oh yes, Linda mentioned that' when I see them.

I wouldn't mind if she was talking about them because it fitted into a general topic of conversation that we were having but it usually doesn't!

People talking about social housing / benefits. I work in this area and the people who haven't a clue on how it all works are the keenest to talk about it and complain about people getting 'free houses'. I politely correct them, but I just want to tell them to get a life.

I don't like celeb gossip especially when it's bitchy.

Routes to places is a good one, it can go on for hours and hours.

Being in a group of smug people who are all contemptuously slagging off other people who didn't go to university like they did.
