WellYouWereMythTaken · 15/10/2025 20:44

Weight loss “journeys” or anything to do with weight loss full stop tbh.

detailed descriptions of things like IBS or similar.

Love island.

I have a manager who always, always shows us pics, videos of her kids, tells us all
about her kids… but it’s not a conversation, because if you reply with “ahh cute, mine did that too” or similar she pauses, stares at you and then carries on like you never spoke. I don’t mind people talking about their kids but she really fucking pisses me off.

Lilington · 15/10/2025 20:45

My heart sinks if someone starts talking about immigrants, gaza or “wellness”

Screamingabdabz · 15/10/2025 20:48

Dogs. Especially if they start showing you photos. 🥱

The best financial products for savings. Oh God. I haven’t got a pot to piss in. Stfu.

Personal ‘sporting best’ stories.

One woman I know (and like a lot) but every time we meet up all she wants to talk about is her fuck up of an (adult) kid. I’ve heard it for the last 20 years and he is a total fuckwit who won’t change. I always feel trapped.

Long winded movie plots for movies you have no interest in.

Men who pontificate.

What I DO love are authentic conversations that include vulnerability and humour. No bragging or begging for validation.

Untailored · 15/10/2025 20:49

Fucking menopause. So boring.

Other people’s dreams

Agree! I also hate dream sequences in books and films.

Weight loss 'journeys'
The royal family or any celebrities as though the person knows them personally
The office politics in someone's workplace
The cruise someone has just been on
The cruise someone is going on

Any conversation that starts -
"Did you see (insert name of film/tv show here)?"
"No"
"Oh, well what is was was, there's this bloke, you know - him out of Poldark and it's 2097 and the battlestar has intercepted Zavrick....."

TheLadyofBower · 15/10/2025 20:55

Most things tbh
I try and keep conversations on the very light end so nothing political please. Don't talk to me about your marriage/relationship I dont want to know and CERTAINLY not your sex life.

I will do some work chat, but only when its constructive and not just a general moan or shows the talker to be lazy/workshy

wheresmymojo · 15/10/2025 20:55

How people drove to the venue
How people plan to drive to a venue
Questions about my plans to drive to a venue

My eyes glaze over immediately - like who the fuck cares whether you took the M25 or the A30 or what junction you came off at?

Farticus101 · 15/10/2025 20:56

Definitely health. For some reason I am around people who talk about it all the time. When they aren't talking about their own health, they are looking up homemade remedies or alternative medicine to suggest to other people. Beyond boring.

TheLadyofBower · 15/10/2025 20:56

Those who've said childbirth 100% agree. In every setting whatever the reason Im with people there always seems to be a competitive childbirth experience. I dont CARE

blessthischarmingmess · 15/10/2025 20:58

I’ve started new medication recently and my dreams have been BONKERS (bearing in mind I never usually dream!) DH is currently wondering which of the cupboards in the house he can lock me in until I stop sharing this with him.

justasking111 · 15/10/2025 20:59

I'm pretty easy going will tune in or out to most stuff. With women it's much easier.

Men do get het up, so I'll smile and drift away. I give my OH the look if I think things are getting sticky with a few of his political friends in conversation.

Gowlett · 15/10/2025 21:00

Diet talk.

Funnywonder · 15/10/2025 21:00

American politics/Donald Trump. DP yaks on about both ad nauseum. We’re in NI. I do not care!
Anything financial or to do with the economy
Celebrities
Sport, particularly football
People’s holidays. You had a nice time. You got home safely. That is where my interest ends. Unless you are my child, then I will happily listen to every detail😅

SchnizelVonKrumm · 15/10/2025 21:04

How fast/slowly they think the week is going. And you always have to agree with them that you can't belieeeve it's only/ already Wednesday! Hmm

Hanschristiananderson · 15/10/2025 21:23

Ah yes, sport. Unless it’s Wimbledon I couldn’t care less.

manicpixieschemegirl · 15/10/2025 21:24

Dreams - I love googling the meaning of my own but don’t want to hear a word about anyone else’s.

Celebs and influencers.

Conversations revolving around material possessions and how much they cost.

Climbing the corporate ladder.

Your mediocre adult children.

AngelinaFibres · 15/10/2025 21:27

'Fur babies'. It's a dog and I don't give a toss about it.

Children who are going to be football/ rugby/ cricket stars. There is a vanishingly small chance your child will be doing any type of sport at a professional level by the time they are 13 never mind making an adult career out of it
