The match between Salford and Oldham was delayed due to a protest against Salford City's owner Gary Neville.

Far-right group Britain First have claimed responsibility for the incident saying they "teamed up with local Salford patriots" to protest against the "treachery of Gary Neville".

Patriots 🙄

FFS. The man took a flag down. Some people need a better hobby.

SerendipityJane · 18/10/2025 17:53

Had a chat with an old school friend (via FB - how modern) recently. I asked if they could remember a flagsteria in the 70s. They said they couldn't. But that could have been because you were far more likely to see a union jack in an immigrants living room than a patriots. Which reminded me that the garage my DF took cars to for MOTs ("Ajay Autos" 😀) had this picture of the queen hanging up in their office. (We may have had it in the entrance to middle school, but I'd not swear to it).

Weirdly no one thought it odd.

Dh and ds1 were at the Portsmouth Southampton game a few weeks ago. They had to meet coaches in designated car parks to be bussed into the ground, no food or drink allowed (not great for lactose intolerant dh who couldn't buy food in the ground).

I can understand why though. Dh and friends parked where the police told them to for a Birmingham game in the early 1990s. They paid extra as it was supposedly safer parking. They were attacked on their way back to the car after the match and were battered and bruised in the pub that night. Last time his team met a Birmingham team, they were hanging out together in the fan zone.

Nobody needs a return to football hooliganism.

The hype for weeks ahead of that game in local press was ridiculous - almost as if they wanted trouble (which I’m sure they did!!)

This is a Tory going further than Farage, more Lowe with mass deportations.

Sunday Times interview Tory "rising star" Katie Lam

She is clear she wants lots of legal migrants to be told to "go home" so as "to leave a mostly but not entirely culturally coherent group of people"

(The interviewer suggests she is scrapping ILR or stripping people of it)

Poor man’s Thatcher. You’d think Truss would have shown cosplaying her doesn’t go well.

What we are seeing - a la Trump - is a swathe of politicians who quite cynically know they are promising things that can't be done with the law as it is in the hope that when elected, the thick cunts that voted them in will happily stand aside as centuries worth of protection from tyranny are pissed away overnight.

And this is no mistake. The is not a single one of them who does not think "It worked for the Nazis, so it will work for us. I mean the English are nowhere near as smart as the Germans were (as we are proving)"

The politics of hate.

DuncinToffee · 19/10/2025 10:01

She is a brexiteer and was a special adviser to Johnson.

At least she has "great personal sympathy" for those she will unfairly deport.

Farage is busy denying any links to Putin, he seems rattled.

I had a look at her official portrait. Her bouffant hairstyle has a hint of Thatcher about it.

This from someone with a Dutch Jewish background on her paternal side and German on the maternal.
Not sure she'll be 'pure blood' enough for Voldemort the screaming right.
Or perhaps by 'culturally coherent' she just means white.

This seems to be a fruitful avenue of attack.

We need to see the Putin files.

Lam's Twitter account is pretty much all about how horrible immigrants are. Muslim immigrants, to be exact. I wonder if she is on MN, she'd fit right in with some posters.

Yet she was happy to work for a man born in New York, who had dual citizenship, and spent part of his childhood and early adult life abroad. Whose ancestors included an Ottoman Empire politician.

PandoraSocks · 19/10/2025 10:28

Reading a bit more about her, Lam is quite an interesting character alongside the nastier aspects. She writes musicals.

Springtime for Hitler perhaps? 🤣

bombastix · 19/10/2025 10:38

I agree Lam is interesting. She strikes me (whatever the views on migration) as a high energy politician, with a brisk communication style.

The opposite of Badenoch, who is characterized as a low energy weirdo.

Anyway, one of the more compelling audition pieces for leadership of the Conservative Party and probably done with a certain amount influence to get this profile in one of the leading Sunday newspapers. One to watch, I think.

Yes. Obviously not my cup of tea, but she does have some oomph about her. Jenrick should be worried. And Cleverly.

That's why trying to get a religious or ethnic monoculture doesn't work.
If you get rid of Muslims you are left with a multi religious society. If you get rid of all non-christians you are still left with a mulifaith society. In the 1700s Catholics were the big threat within. If you get rid of them you still have all the different sorts of protestants who disagree on everything. And have to decide what the Church of England actually is.

If you got rid of everyone non white you would still have to decide whether Irish people or Jewish descendants were white. And of course the British are very different to Slavic people. And the Scottish would need their own space. But obviously not those basterd from the Macdonalds clan.

People complain about multiculturalism but it's sort of impossible not to have it unless you crack down very firmly on any deviation from the norm a de force people to behave exactly the same. In which case congratulations you now live in a fascist state.

I think the Tories have had enough of women leaders ...
