Hi I am being hassled by a buyer over a £3 top I sold her. She wants a refund as it's too small. She's sent me a photo of the sleeves up her arm. The top is a 3/4 sleeve top and it says that in the description. Which I showed her and she said it doesn't fit anyway. She has asked Vinted to step in too. I have sent photos and of the description to Vinted. Now waiting for them to get back to me. I told the buyer to just resell it as it would cost her as much as the top to return. But she's insisting she doesn't want it as it doesn't fit and it would have to go in the bin otherwise. This is stressing me out!

Surely this much of your peace/time/life energy is worth more than £3 OP? Just let her crack on. I’d refund her but I fully appreciate I’m in the tiny minority who doesn’t value £ and “principles” over my own peace (i’m sure this sounds like I’m judging you, I assure you I’m not.)

SpidersAreShitheads · 12/10/2025 22:22

Are you going to reply OP?

If you do, I would keep it short and sweet, and be the absolute epitome of politeness and good manners. It will reflect badly on her, not you.

I would also definitely include the fact that Vinted found in your favour without any quibble, and that the photos she supplied as "evidence" don't match her claims.

I couldn't quite work it out, but did you offer her a refund if she returned it at her expense? If so, include that too!

dawngreen · 12/10/2025 22:28

She should not be stretching it if it is too small for her. She could damage it,and cause it to lose its proper shape. Making it unsellable.

Barney16 · 12/10/2025 22:33

She just wanted it for free. It's absolutely ridiculous. Glad you kept your £3 🙂

KatieA12B3C · 12/10/2025 22:34

@SpidersAreShitheads

Hi, no I didn't offer her a refund. She just went straight to Vinted. It was on principle that there was nothing wrong with the top at all. (Nothing to do with the £3) She said the sleeves were too short and I pointed out to her that they are 3/4 sleeves and it was in the description and under the category 3/4 sleeve tops! So she was making the fuss over a £3 top not me. Then she had the audacity to say "she refused to let me return a 3 pound top since 3 pounds are a lot of money for her clearly. the top doesn't even fit me" Obviously the £3 meant a lot to her!

I wasn't going to mention this but I will. This is on her 'about' page ..... I have not added her name.

do not ask me questions,or send offers to then not PURCHASE. its a waste of time! you WILL be blocked. returns are not valid as i sell to my customers brand new things and if it is used then it's not brand new anymore. hygiene is very important to me and so are my values. check carefully before purchasing. i do RESERVE if you give me the guarantee you will purchase the item but other than that no. lastly,do send me offers! i love offers but be REASONABLE! ive got y2k and cute stuff and i do bundles where you can sell for more and buy cheaper so message me!

I did suggest she sells it on, as she is also a seller on Vinted.

But as she said in my feedback, she is going to bin it!

Now she's just sent me another saying .... like i had to stretch it out before to make it long. Talking about her first photo!

That photo is hilarious. She’s rolled it all the way up. What a CF.

In your review, post a link to this chat!

KatieA12B3C · 12/10/2025 22:51

@Notthatgameagain
Actually out of her 30 something reviews she only received 2 bad ones and one of those was about late delivery, which wasn't her fault.

KatieA12B3C · 12/10/2025 17:23

Well she's already left her feedback. My first ONE star ever!

don't like leaving bad reviews but i'd like to say she refused to let me return a 3 pound top since 3 pounds are a lot of money for her clearly. the top doesn't even fit me and now will be thrown away as it's sad as i don't have space for clothes. beware,she doesn't allow people to return even if the item doesn't fit.

I'd reply to her feedback stating Vinted doesn't support returns for items that don't fit.
Can you request feedback be removed, after all they found in your favour.

And then BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK.

KatieA12B3C · 12/10/2025 22:56

@Welshmonster

I still haven't left her any feedback.

A right chancer!!!

RandomGeocache · 12/10/2025 23:08

So her game is to order cheaper stuff, claim there's something wrong with it to get a refund, then bundle the stuff she's scammed to sell on?

strawberryhi · 12/10/2025 23:08

ThejoyofNC · 11/10/2025 08:15

This is a common scam with cheap items. She's trying to get you to refund her and let her keep it because cost of return isn't worth it. Basically she wants it for free.

Exactly this

KatieA12B3C · 12/10/2025 23:13

@RandomGeocache

Well not according to her 'about' above. She only sells new stuff!!!

OP posts:
Imisscoffee2021 · 12/10/2025 23:19

@KatieA12B3C don't be stressed and dont take it personally. There are people reselling on the platform for tiny margins who do things like this which most people would find a huge waste of time. You can see she's bunched up the top sleeves near her armpits or she'd have done a full frontal view.

All for three quid too. Like others have said sizing isn't refundable when the correct sizing is described by the seller. My sister had this issue where a buyer knew the package was waiting in an impost locker so had the code but said she decided the shoes probably wouldn't fit so she wanted a refund, so she'd get it then go get the shoes anyway hoping my sister wouldn't quibble over a few pounds. She did and said take it to vinted, called her bluff. It's petty.

KatieA12B3C · 12/10/2025 23:38

@Imisscoffee2021
That was her 2nd photo. Did you see the first photo she sent Vinted, when she opened the case it was just a normal 3/4 sleeve top. Then when I told her it was a 3/4 sleeve top she said oh is it, it still doesn't fit me anyway, then made it shorter! You have to laugh!!!

Good on your sister for calling her bluff!

OP posts:
HeartyStork · 12/10/2025 23:42

Tell her rollocks, on your pic there's 15 white stripes on the sleeve on hers there's about 6. Shes trying to pull a fast one. But besides it's sold as seen is it not? Providing you've put an accurate description then I'd be shocked if vinted side with her. I've bought loads that doesn't fit. I either pass it on or take it to charity. OP I really wouldn't loose no sleep over £3.00.

Spookyspaghetti · 12/10/2025 23:46

I’ve had similar before. There is an option to give a refund but they have to pay to return the item to you. When they are taking the pea over a 1 or 2 pound item they then won’t go to the trouble of going through with it but they can’t claim you didn’t offer a refund. (Obviously I would give a full refund and let them keep it is there was a genuine problem not mentioned in the description)

KatieA12B3C · 12/10/2025 23:55

@HeartyStork

I have received my money so it's all done and dusted and then she left me a one star rating and said this ......

don't like leaving bad reviews but i'd like to say she refused to let me return a 3 pound top since 3 pounds are a lot of money for her clearly. the top doesn't even fit me and now will be thrown away as it's sad as i don't have space for clothes. beware,she doesn't allow people to return even if the item doesn't fit.

OP posts:
KatieA12B3C · 12/10/2025 23:58

@Spookyspaghetti
Exactly a completely different matter if there was a genuine problem.

OP posts:
HatStickBoots · 13/10/2025 00:02

I thought she’d cut the sleeves off! She’d have to have knuckles dragging on the floor for the sleeves to be as short as in her photo. I’m not a seller on Vinted, how does the feedback work? Can you put feedback on hers OP?

mjuser · 13/10/2025 00:03

I'm pretty sure Vinted will remove that review if you ask them to, as it was their decision to complete the sale and they found no error on your part.

KatieA12B3C · 13/10/2025 00:07

@3rdtimelucky73 @mjuser

Hi, I'm Vinted's virtual assistant. My knowledge is based on Vinted Help Centre articles, and I can help you find answers to your questions or issues. Negative feedback left by a buyer cannot be removed just because a case was found in your favour. We only remove feedback if it violates our Community Standards (for example, if it's inappropriate, abusive, or related to a scam). If you believe the feedback is unfair but doesn't violate these standards, you can contact the buyer and ask them to edit or remove it, or you can reply to the feedback to share your point of view.
