What’s for Dinner/Tea?

I don’t fancy what’s on the meal plan*! I’ll probably end up having it, unless someone inspires me - so, what are YOU having (or what’ve you had) for dinner/tea tonight?

  • it was meant to be omelette, wedges and salad. I just can’t be bothered 😭 When I win the lottery, first thing I’m doing is employing a personal chef!

Ummmm...are you from milton keynes? Turtle bay and las iguanas is in the same place there 😆 🤣 😂. God that mango sauce killed me...never again!!

😂😆I totally know what you mean. Me + mango sauce = 💀

No, I'm in Swansea - but they are both a stone's throw from one another here too!

LinedOverLatte · 25/09/2025 19:49

Thanks 🤩 There’s some lovely ideas on here which have inspired me for another day. It’s the thinking about what to cook that’s the worst bit.

Cajun chicken with Mexican rice tonight. Dh is making it. Bliss.

Tomorrow night is sausages, smashed potatoes (baby potatoes squished down and roasted) onions, butternut squash (frozen cubes thank you Asda) with tenderstem broccoli. That was in the Asda magazine and I made it last week and it was delicious although I am tinkering with the timings a little. I will be making that.

@Simonjt if you have a link to the Brazilian black bean stew recipe could you post it? My mouth is watering now reading all of these dinners.

Halloumi chopped up in the sausage bake is delicious and cooks really nicely in it. We often have this, and top it with a big dollop of homous (cold, although I’ve had hot homous which was nice. Hmmm, might do this next time).

Giggorata · 25/09/2025 20:21

Had a lot of cold roast duck, which I turned into a curry. Then some apple pie and custard.

ButterPiesAreGreat · 25/09/2025 20:22

Took DD back to uni today so I wasn’t sure if I would be back to cook so just did a freezer dive. Ended up cooking some Swedish meatballs and cooking a spare garlic baguette. Ate with some salad, and a bit of cheese. Not my usual kind of thing!

Dreamhigh · 25/09/2025 20:23

Spanish omelette with a salad

Jok77 · 25/09/2025 20:43

Mid week roast- chicken legs cooked in air fryer, new potatoes, carrots, broccoli and Yorkshire puddings (from freezer).

Oh, 👋 hiyyyaaaa, 😆 🤣. Small world it is. There really is nowhere to eat eh. We end up taking the kids to 1314 for a pub lunch if we are going out for a wee day.

Oh that’s a pain! I like it because I live so close to the beach and it feels peaceful but five minutes of walking and I’m in the city centre with the amenities. It’s not a big city by any stretch of the imagination, but there’s definitely enough here to have some good choices to be fair. I worked in Glasgow for six months and have very fond memories of the live music scene and Sauchiehall Street (I have totally spelled that incorrectly haven’t I?!)

NewHome2026 · 25/09/2025 20:46

Oh we had a lovely tea tonight - salmon marinated in grapefruit and miso with sushi rice, chillis, avocado and kimchi.

Don’t buy a lot of salmon as it is SO expensive but it really was tasty!

DiscoBeat · 25/09/2025 20:49

It was chicken arrabiata stew with Parmesan dumplings tonight.

Chocolatecustardcreamsrule · 25/09/2025 20:50

Buttermilk chicken strips with rice, veg and perinnaise. We really need to do a shop!

Thats it, never had a bad meal out of there tbh. Or mcques in bannockburn but I haven't been there for a good while.

DarkTreesWhisper · 25/09/2025 21:24

@Simonjt sounds delicious, I shall try to make it, I love black beans.

This thread has been brilliant for inspiring some lovely dinners.

@LinedOverLatte we love Halloumi but our adult children find it squeaky Grin we all love houmous though. I made my own, it was delicious but Ds1 said Costco's was better. The cheek. To be fair we ate it immediately instead of putting it into the fridge for a while.

Whilst I am here, can I recommend a YouTube channel, Rafika's Kitchen, incredible Turkish food. Might make you hungry again.

Going on holiday tomorrow and using up the stuff in the fridge, so we ate a stew of aubergines, mushrooms bacon , potatoes, beans, tomatoes and chard . Served with yoghurt and mint . From Allrecipes. We added the mushrooms and swapped in potato for sweet potato
it was alright. I’d eat it again.
