What’s for Dinner/Tea?

LinedOverLatte · 25/09/2025 17:26

I don’t fancy what’s on the meal plan*! I’ll probably end up having it, unless someone inspires me - so, what are YOU having (or what’ve you had) for dinner/tea tonight?

  • it was meant to be omelette, wedges and salad. I just can’t be bothered 😭 When I win the lottery, first thing I’m doing is employing a personal chef!

I've got the next few days off work and it's been a slog, so I am going to let the good people at Turtle Bay take the strain! A few small plates and a vino for me.

Omg I tried that restaurant in milton keynes when we were there last year and I couldn't feel my mouth 🤣.

LarryIsMyRomanEmpire · 25/09/2025 18:22

Quiche and salad, v boring 😴

I know exactly what you mean! I always ask to have for the sauce on the side as although I love spice, I am a big baby when it comes to heat! I usually manage a couple of tiny little dribbles of sauce and that's my limit!

HansHolbein · 25/09/2025 18:24

Cottage pie, cabbage and broccoli.

Then I’m going to make honey cake and then make some bread.

I tried sweetcorn fritter things and thought oohhh these are lovely..I could only eat one because my mouth was on fire 🥵. This summer when we were there we went to las iguanas instead, just the right spice in there for me 😆 🤣

JustStopItNorasaurus · 25/09/2025 18:30

We had homemade fried rice using alot of sesame oil; peppers; onions; peas; cashews and pineapple. DS1 and I had battered tofu on the side and DS2 had broccoli. DH has been out all day so he ate what he usually eats for breakfast- porridge with fruit and full fat milk, cinnamon and walnuts.

This all makes us sound a very great deal more healthy than we are in real life!

LizzyEm · 25/09/2025 18:31

Almond pork and rice. Can't be fucked though.

I literally feel your pain! They do lovely Bajan corn ribs now with garlic butter - so moreish... just ask not to have the hot mango sauce on them! Ironically it is very close to a Las Iguanas, but I didn't opt to go there this time as I am still cross at them for taking their corn esquites off their menu! I will get over it when they send me a nice perk in the app in time I am sure. Nice to meet a fellow corn fan!

Honey cake is perfect for this time of year.

Jsokev · 25/09/2025 18:34

Roast chicken, roast Mediterranean veg and tzatziki, wraps to put it in if wanted.
Pineapple and grape fruit salad.

murasaki · 25/09/2025 18:35

Pork mince, black pudding and haggis burgers. And chips. DP is making it.

Chickoletta · 25/09/2025 18:35

Fry up (healthy ish version):
Chicken sausages, bacon medallions, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, baked beans and wedges.
It’s been a hell if a week where we haven’t eaten a meal all together so looking forward to this!

laddersandsnakes12 · 25/09/2025 18:35

Made Nigella’s lasagna of love at the weekend and had loads of the bolognese sauce left over, so defrosted & reheated some of that and cooked some spaghetti. Nice and easy but still homemade.

aperollingintotheweekend · 25/09/2025 18:36

I do like these threads. I am home alone and have a hankering cold so feeling very sorry for myself.

I pulled a bag of chicken gyoza out of the freezer, steamed then pan fried them for a crispy bottom and some little pots of soy sauce, hoisin sauce and crispy chilli oil.

now festering on the sofa with One Tree Hill and some pitta chips from Costco. Could do with some inspo for the coming days, otherwise it’ll be some form of the girl dinner.

I made Sloppy Joes but I don’t like them in bread (Americans are weird), so I made an orzo risotto-ey version. Heavily pregnant so the copious amounts of beef mince and spinach are good for my slightly low iron levels and while it’s definitely stodge, it’s good stodge. Tasty stodge. Stick to your ribs and warm your cockles stodge. Definitely what I needed tonight.

And if I go into labour, it’s an easy thing for my DH to just nuke up in the meantime. Fully entering my stew era!

I landed on my feet and showed up to a customer’s farm right as the guys were all going in for tea, and in true old school farmers wife fashion, I was bustled indoors too, so I got cottage pie with homemade apple and strawberry crumble with ‘proper’ custard and ice cream for afters!

SnowFrogJelly · 25/09/2025 19:03

Spag Bol made by DP 😁

That sounds very "convenient" that you rocked up at dinner time 😀

Still on train home so DH turn to cook - chicken thighs with Nando’s peri peri sauce in the oven with some wedges. I hope!! 🤞

So my darling hubby cooked chicken as planned but instead of Nando’s sauce smothered it in pizza express garlic and herb dipping sauce. He even marinated it first… Didn’t realise when I asked why he’d picked up the wrong thing!! 😂😂 tasted quite nice actually so might do it again!! 😂

It sounds weird but I often marinate chicken in mayonnaise and some random spices (usually paprika and dried garlic) then cook i the oven. It works out surprisingly well and the chicken is very tender.
