I do actually know the story you're talking about.

But... tbh, why should we? Obviously it's very sad for that girl and her family, but it happened thousands of miles away from the UK, and doesn't impact on us specifically. It's just another example of violence against women and girls. There's no particular reason why this case should be any more deserving of attention than any other.

I wasn’t talking about it because this is the first I ever heard of him. I googled it there. Shocking and very, very sad.

It must be a demographic thing that lots of us simply haven’t heard of him OP. Some things outside of your sphere of interest just don’t come up on your radar these days.
I knew I was getting older a few years ago when I realised I have no clue who most celebrities are these days and I don’t recognise most popular music.
I pick up some terms here and there, like I happen to know what Discord is because one of the much younger school mums explained it to me. A year ago I wouldn’t have had a clue.
