For me it was The Bodyguard & I was really surprised as I love the soundtrack & Whitney.. It was ok but I thought it would blow me away & it didn’t. Maybe some things just work.better on the big screen.

Hamilton. I couldn’t wait for it to be over!

unmp · 20/09/2025 06:29

Wicked felt like a waste of money, overly complicated storyline which could have been summed up in 30mins

daisychain01 · 20/09/2025 06:32

Wicked was dire. The green faces didn't do anything for me.

Whistle Down The Wind... Utter tripe.

Same, I thought it was awful!

Toddlerteaplease · 20/09/2025 06:37

Cats. No real storyline.

whatohwhattodo · 20/09/2025 06:37

I should be so lucky - to be fair I didn’t expect much from but even so it was so bad I left at the interval and it was a struggle to stay that long.

wicked I think I nodded off - that was one my kids wanted to see and so I took them. I think I may have enjoyed it more had I seen the film first as I actually understood a little of the storyline then.

to the op I had opposite experience of Hamilton - took my daughters recently and I had no interest in seeing it, had turned off after 20 minutes of the Disney plus recording but I actually really enjoyed it.

I loved The Bodyguard! Alexandra Burke was in it and I thought she was great.

Wicked was ok but didn’t love it. Loved Hamilton but took my tween daughter to it and it was a bit too long for her.

Dirty dancing. It was literally the script of the film. Songs and dancing were good. It hasn't aged well.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 20/09/2025 06:39

Wicked, the whole show sounds like it’s one looong whiny song. Dreadful show

Whistle Down The Wind... Utter tripe.

We left at the interval, we were so bored

ZenNudist · 20/09/2025 06:44

Wicked. I only enjoyed defying gravity

Also hated the madness musical our house

Bernadinetta · 20/09/2025 06:50

&Juliet. Everyone had raved about it but I found it so cheesy and the songs felt shoehorned in.

Waitaminutewheresmejumper · 20/09/2025 06:52

Lion King
Matilda

Both dreary. I'd have left mid way but when you've spent a zillion pounds on tickets, you feel obliged to suffer till the end.

Heylittlesongbird · 20/09/2025 07:03

Grease, had a little snooze towards the end of Act one.

Sodukuchess · 20/09/2025 07:07

Harry Potter. The Bodyguard. School of Rock.

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 20/09/2025 07:09

Blood brothers. Loathed it and couldn’t wait for it to be over.

Ansjovis · 20/09/2025 07:09

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I had such high hopes given all the material they had to work with in the film and the end result was just thoroughly lacklustre.

Onelifeonly · 20/09/2025 07:11

The Lion King. Everyone said it was amazing but other than the Gorge scene I wasn't impressed. The script was word to word the same as the film and my then young dd had been watching that on repeat for years by then.

Wasn't that struck by Kinky Boots or Wicked either.

Whistle Down The Wind... Utter tripe.

Same here - it also seemed to be the same song over and over.

IdyllicLandscape · 20/09/2025 07:15

We Will Rock You. So bad. It really lowered the bar, and other pretty poor things now seem brilliant in comparison.

toastofthetown · 20/09/2025 07:15

It was Hadestown town for me. I went in expecting to love it, and while the cast were amazing and there was nothing wrong with it, it didn’t blow me away in the way I hoped it would. I didn’t find it bad in the way that a lot of other posters here are saying about the musicals they found disappointing but it was underwhelming for me.

Same. I wanted to leave at half time. The lake lift scene was just terrible and the worst bit was there was an added bit at the end that wasn’t in the film, with the most cringey dialogue I’ve ever heard.

WorthySloth · 20/09/2025 07:16

Wicked. Absolutely hated it. Took the kids and thought at least they’re enjoying it… told me afterwards they hated it too 😭😭

dammit88 · 20/09/2025 07:18

Wicked as well. Although I did like the film! But the stage show not at all.

Starlight express.

Cats.
