@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats I read on the Litter Tray board that black cats are the least popular wrt being chosen for adoption from cat rescues - something to do with not being visible in the dark and getting run over by cars more often, [might of course be a load of twaddle]

So maybe the correlation is between the 'under-dog'/least favoured colouring and political leaning

And thank you for the new thread @DuncinToffee

A Hillsborough Law will be laid before Parliament today after decades of tireless campaigning by the families of the 97 Liverpool fans who died at the 1989 stadium disaster

Is it just me that is appalled that we apparently need a law to ensure that public officials would have to act with honesty and integrity at all times and would face criminal sanctions if they breached it.?
FFS - I'd expect that as a matter of course.

Pleased about this - both for the families and for the future. No coverage of it in The Times.

History tells us otherwise.

Only 36 years to acheive it - appalling

It may be that we are more likely to be mugs. 🤣
When I got my last two kittens from Battersea I said I was happy with any colour - but my preference wasn't for black as we already had a black cat.
They phoned me telling me they had two bonded black kittens and they had to go together and they were running out of space. Needless to say we took them. And they weren't even bloody bonded either.
Battersea saw me coming...

I've noticed a preponderance of black cats on these threads (we have three). Wondering if there might be a correlation between household pet preferences and political leanings?

My cat choosing was asking the shelter which adult cats really needed homing. Got the patient and the late lamented Cordelia, a small Bengal. I’ve had 3 black or tuxedo cats in the past though.

They are hard to photograph well for SM as well apparently, which is apparently a recent reason for their unpopularity…

cardibach · 16/09/2025 09:31

Re Trump, apparently Ch4 are doing a long broadcast of all his lies, debunking them, on Wednesday. Valiant work but I don’t think I could take watching it…

Evenstar · 16/09/2025 09:31

@DuncinToffee I certainly felt sorry for the street cleaners who had to clean up after them, especially considering the images of huge numbers of men urinating everywhere 🤢

Karistyleaftea · 16/09/2025 09:38

Thanks for the new thread Duncin.
May I please have a "late payment tax extension " as I am away from home and can't upload.any images.
Thanks!

Finally have some Cat tax. This is the newest member of the family. He only came to live with us on Saturday so is still getting to know us. @cardibach Milo is also a flat faced breed and we were a little unprepared for his snoring noises.
in other news I am off to that there London tomorrow to join the Trump protest so Milo will have to fend for himself for about 2 hours from me leaving until my partner is home from work.

The thing about black cats being hard to photograph must surely be a myth, given all the lovely photos we manage to post here!

He's amazing, I'm so envious of those that aren't allergic to cats!

cardibach · 16/09/2025 10:37

He’s lovely @ThatbloodyRoblox ! Yes, flat face cats make some heroic purrs and snores!
PerdyCat has…a cold. Essentially. Probably a cat flu carrier since infancy. They’ve given her metacam and an anti mucus thing to help her feel better. I’m £130 lighter in the bank balance department.
Glad it’s not serious though. She was so dramatic yesterday with her sneezing and theatrical lying about the place.

ThatbloodyRoblox · 16/09/2025 10:43

@cardibach glad Perry is ok- ouch at the cost though!

@Goldenbearmy eldest son was very allergic when he was younger so we haven’t had pets for years. He has now left home so we finally decided to get a cat.

It’s the real cat tax…
I don’t use insurance because the list of exemptions is so long and, apart from these last 2 cats I’ve spent very little on most of those I’ve had. I think I’m still ahead financially.

Still lurking on my go to thread for sanity, reasoned discussion and heartwarming kindness on the on the internet. I'm heartbroken at the moment as my lovely lovely dear little cat has been missing for a month and I'm totally at a loss. 😔. Love all your taxes 💕 💕
