I hope if the Reform party come in they reverse the farm inheritance tax. One of the most idiotic mistakes by any government. Farmers are giving up in their droves. That is not good.

This is utter nonsense and hyperbole. I know farmers and they are not giving up.

placemats · 19/09/2025 21:49

Goodness only knows where NF will be in four years time. Or how many Reform led councils will still be leading.

Polls this early on are nonsense and irrelevant. The Tories under Johnson were topping polls in the first year, despite Covid and the pandemic and look how bad the Tories ended up - struggling to match a cabinet in opposition.

Reform rely on a one agenda vote and the rest is irrelevant.

NHS gone and it'll only take a year. Reform will do that. Is that really what people voting for Reform want?

MsJinks · 19/09/2025 22:11

Can’t see NF plugging away for 4 years - he got away with it as an MEP as no one really noticed his lack of work ethic. However, they’re clearly popular in polls - but is that enough of a protest for some ie/ I will say I’m voting reform cos I’m sick of whatever but at the polling station I’m voting for a party with some experience.
Also Musk will back a further right party surely - one that accepts his good mate SYL - that would appeal to the more ‘right wing’ reform folk and maybe lower reform’s vote.
Over 4 years stories of how rubbish they are at a local level will come out - or that they’re doing stuff/not doing stuff they promised. Guess that’s in the hands of the media though.
I’d be ok about a one nation Conservative Party regroup - but I think everyone has moved too far right for that to happen.
Maybe LibDems and greens will do ok if labour isn’t appealing to non right wingers - I’m not sure I can really define it as left any more - a full shuffle right for all imo comparing to parties a couple of decades ago.
I think we will see a lot of ‘deals’ closer to the time on the right.

I remember that just a couple of years ago the troll farms were working hard to convince us that politics had lurched to the left, despite all the evidence to the contrary. Goodness knows how many they convinced.

A ride through Seaham, Peterlee and assorted pit villages with DS1, this afternoon, revealed that they really our quite, er, patriotic out there, this month.

I have no idea. I don’t trust politicians in general. The only politician who is in our corner is Kemi Badenoch.

Is she?.

Notonthestairs · 19/09/2025 23:16

Not in the corner of those over privileged SN kids.

PickAChew · 19/09/2025 23:33

Never mind the colours, I think infinite scrolling is back.

Same here. I don't know a single farmer who is giving up and the only one who ever mentions IHT has one child who is totally disinterested in farming and has told them they should sell up and retire on the money (they are mid 60s with health issues) because they will just sell anyway if they inherit.

Notonthestairs · 20/09/2025 08:48

In a surprise to no one

Reform UK has suspended one of its councillors while the party investigates him over alleged online comments about wanting to kill Keir Starmer.
The suspension came after the party was presented with details indicating that John Allen, a Reform UK Northumberland county councillor, had posted comments online about wanting to shoot the prime minister.

Poor little Yaxley-Lennon tried to go on holiday to Colombia. He was arrested on arrival and was to be deported. Officials agreed to let him book a flight to Panama instead of deporting him. On arrival in Panama he was...arrested and deported.

🤣🤣🤣

DuncinToffee · 20/09/2025 09:50

Poor tommeh ten names, deported from 2 countries

He wanted a quiet break so he tried to go to Colombia. 😂

Honestly, this sort of total commitment to scoring some gear deserves our admiration.

He was deported on grounds of national security - which is rather revealing.

DuncinToffee · 20/09/2025 09:57

He has a criminal record, can't even visit his mate Musk in the US

We need the Tories to decide who they want to be too, return to One Nation Conservatives or become Reform?

Tories are toast. And they will have many decades to reflect on how that happened.

We also need to remember that Nigel Faright made it a public mission to destroy them years ago. They pretended it was all bantz. But history will record how he succeeded.

I hope the officials knew exactly what they were doing when they agreed to Panama. Can imagine the laughter behind the scenes.

Yeah, quiet time to relax in Columbia, sniff.

I have visions of the Colombian officials phoning ahead to Panama and having a right laugh.

Noblegiraffe has started a thread on it.

Which suggests the US backing for his little adventure is sorely lacking.
