A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Alas, social media allows anyone to post anonymously, which permits extreme views.

Imagine if, in order to post on MN, one had to do so using their real ID.

There would only be threads about cats etc.

Yep. And I'd probably start most of them. Grin

The only things I post on FB are cat memes. Sometimes I send private messages to my braver and more courageous friends who post their thoughts on gender critical issues and politics. (Well- if I agree of course).

The Speaker has granted the request for an emergency debate on Peter Mandelson. It will be held tomorrow at 12.30pm.

I wondered when the Speaker might enter the fray

I have a teeny (4 of us!) GC Messenger group I chat with if we find something to share. I also have a safe person at work I chat to. Plus DH. And that's as far as I go, when I'm not anonymous.

A debate on Mandy on the same day Trump lands in the UK 🍿

It’s true - SM has worsened life in so many ways - you cannot have a private life online in your own name without risking being sacked as you’ve posted something on Facebook that someone else at work saw and felt offended by….

yeah, time travel. That’s what we need…

or, we need to have better protection for having a right to an online private life.

this Labour dude was using Labour Party systems.

Barbadossunset · 15/09/2025 18:11

Interesting about it not being a natural Reform seat as that was my first reaction and the polls would suggest maybe that's changed? But I don't know the constituency so can't really comment as to that.

We live in Danny Kruger’s constituency but I’ve never met him. We did know Michael Ancram who was very popular - with good reason as he was a lovely man.
DK’s seat used to be very safe but there were boundary changes and his majority went from nearly 24,000 in 2019 to 4700 in 2024.

twistyizzy · 15/09/2025 18:14

So Phase 2 has been the Scandalson era. Can't wait for Phase 3....🍿

twistyizzy · 15/09/2025 18:26

Although listening to snippets from Starmer interviews today he is talking us onto a war footing against "far right rascists" 🙄 He will be parading around in his camo gear next. Of course it's PM 101 in the handbook, facing a crisis = create a war to divert attention.

All it means is that they will just double down on ignoring legitimate discussions and shutting down dissent.

EasternStandard · 15/09/2025 18:35

That Ovenden stuff bloody hell. Just looking at the messaging

Yep, and in the next breath, he'll be banging on about 'illegals' and filming ICE clips of them being shoved onto an aircraft back to France.

He's a fecking idiot.

Same. And wtaf kind of a world are we now living in where we have ‘safe’ people / groups we can talk to about the fact we understand that yes biology is real and sex matters. It’s mind blowing. Imagine if someone had told us a few years ago that some people didn’t ’believe in’ biological fact, and if we did believe in biological fact we’d have to hide it or else be sacked / cancelled. Getting better now than a year ago but still.

Yep agree. The fact I've had to explain to DD why some people believe men can have cervixes etc 😡

twistyizzy · 15/09/2025 19:44

Ffs another "they just need better comms" comment 🙄🙄
No,they need to stop fucking up!

The 1% who still think Labour are doing a good job are all on MN.

EasternStandard · 15/09/2025 20:11

11% approvers all seem on here too. It’ll be interesting to see what Mandelson issue does to that rating.

TheNuthatch · 15/09/2025 20:11

And we're all supposed to appreciate Keir because Truss, Boris, [insert hated tory, but miss out Sunak, because we need to pretend he didn't exist] ..were worse.

OP posts:

I don’t think many appreciate Keir anymore 😬

Just on here it seems it

GabrielsOboe · 15/09/2025 21:11

The crisis engulfing Keir Starmer has deepened on the eve of Donald Trump’s visit to the UK after the resignation of a third senior ally in two weeks raised further questions about the stability of his government.

Paul Ovenden quit as the prime minister’s director of political strategy after the publication of old WhatsApp messages in which Ovenden relayed lewd jokes made at a party about the Labour MP Diane Abbott.

His resignation comes after a bruising two weeks in which Starmer has overseen the departures of both his deputy prime minister, Angela Rayner, and his US ambassador, Peter Mandelson.
Starmer has also been under pressure from his own MPs after a mass far-right rally in London over the weekend. The government’s response to the rally was deemed to be weak.

On a different note. As it’s bedtime (for me today anyway), I can’t believe how much Angela Rayner looks like Liam Gallagher. Both from Manchesta.. they could be related..

Sorry, running behind.

The first deportation of a Channel migrant under Sir Keir Starmer’s “one in, one out” deal with France was cancelled at the last minute.

The Telegraph understands that one migrant was due to be flown from Heathrow to Paris on an Air France passenger flight on Monday, but the flight was postponed amid protests by charities and threats of legal action.
