How would this request go down in your household right now?

Our little next-door neighbour just knocked and asked, and got given a brand new stick.
Just wondering how you would fare in the emergency pritt stick scenario?
Do you have any to hand?
Luckily for NDN child, this being the start of a new school year, our stationery supplies have been very recently freshly replenished!
Had it been a couple of months ago, I think we'd be hard pushed to find a dried up empty stick between us 😄

The best I can offer is Bostik All Purpose glue, about 1/3 of tube left.

I’m a teacher. I keep an emergency glue stick in my school bag at all times 😂

wiminny · 08/09/2025 18:33

I have double sided tape if that's any use 😊

MargaretThursday · 08/09/2025 18:33

We have quite a few.

When the dc were at junior school a "glue stick" was one of the must-have for the pencil case. I'm not sure if they ate them, but the girls at any rate shot through them. Ds never bothered though.
So I always bought loads when they were on special offer.

Last dc left juniors 7 years ago and we're still working through my stockpile.

Mangetouts · 08/09/2025 18:34

We have one, whether it's usable is another matter... (trundles off to look).

CakeFace1234 · 08/09/2025 18:34

I do, I bought a Scotch bargain pack from Costco about 12 months ago so have at least 10 around the house in desks and shelves. I don't think anyone has ever used one.

I have 5 in the desk I am using now, just checked - still tacky!

Moveoverdarlin · 08/09/2025 18:35

I have one to hand, not sure if I would have lent it though.

DeanStockwelll · 08/09/2025 18:55

I can't help with a prit stick but I have got paper clips , double sided tape , super glue, blue and white tack and drawing pins .

Backtoschooltime · 08/09/2025 18:57

I have a cupboard of replacement pens and pritt-stick as the DC give me no warning and they get negative marks if they don’t have the right equipment at secondary school.

Thatcannotberight · 08/09/2025 18:59

I have every kind of sticky stuff except a Pritt Stick. They dry up and turn to rubber, so I gave up buying them.

Geneticsbunny · 08/09/2025 19:02

We only have accidentally stolen pritt sticks from school which are waiting to be returned but I can do you some pva?

WhereAreMyKids · 08/09/2025 19:03

Tesco yellow stickered their glue sticks so I have about 50 😆 9p for 3!

HoneyHoneyHowYouThrillMe · 08/09/2025 19:04

Nope, we don't have any! The best I could do would be one of DH's huge canisters of glue spray/foam/whatever it is.

Kangarude · 08/09/2025 19:08

I may have one in a cupboard, but it was bought many years ago for my DGD so it’s probably dried out/turned to rubber. Sellotape any use?

singthing · 08/09/2025 19:09

I've got 100 of those sticky dots, because I bought them for a project but never actually needed them.

Frlrlrubert · 08/09/2025 19:09

I do home tuition, what size would you like?

MaMisled · 08/09/2025 19:09

On Saturday, DH and I went to separate shops at the same time (Sainsburys for stationary and cakes, Home Bargains for ablutions )I bought a pack of 3 Pritt Sticks and so did he! So I have 6. I'll give you one if you come and hoover the pet hair off my rug?

HowDairy · 08/09/2025 19:23

@MaMisled hmmm...how big is the rug and would you throw in a cake as well?😉

Yes but it’s shit so virtually useless.

I could offer some gloopy PVA and a lollipop stick that would do the job though.

CrushingOnRubies · 08/09/2025 19:42

I think there might be one somewhere. Would some pva glue in a gü pyrex dish and a brush do?

HowDairy · 08/09/2025 20:22

Thanks all! You're a generous lot!
Think I'm alright for glue sticks now.
Does anyone have a stapler though? 😄

TY78910 · 08/09/2025 20:27

I’m sure there are a couple of shrivelled up glue sticks with no lids on in DCs room. That’s the best I can do right now

FurForksSake · 08/09/2025 20:29

I’ve got 8, plus a box of unbranded Amazon ones that may or may not be sticky. I could always rustle one up.

im not a teacher, i dont use them for craft, we are a scout leading family but these are not the scout supply.

why do i have so many? In case ds loses them all at school? Erm…

LEM0NADEY · 08/09/2025 20:31

I bought a set of theee from hobby craft for £6:99. Then went next door to Aldi and saw the exact same pack for £2.50. So we have six now!

Yes and spare staples!
