A brand new shiny thread. Whether you want to do one extra thing a day, or a brain dump of what you have to do this is the place.

Winter, there are so many good educational programs on YT. I'm glad the kids are interested in watching some of them. I'm trying to find fun ones and not push too much. It's a balance. I shut it off when I see attention waning.

I took them out for the whole day: Richmond Nature Preserve, Steveston to look at fishing boats and have lunch and the mall for the shopping errands. Bought my mum a book and the kids their Christmas pj's.
Kids were asleep by 7:30pm and I've been watching pvr'd shows then two episodes of Parenthood on Netflix. Now in bed half listening to a parenting podcast. 🙄
I like the topic, but struggle with listening to the presenter. It's a me problem. 😂

Winter, I just Googled, Hector's House. Did you watch it in French or English? There are episodes on YT.
It looks cute. 😃

Ok. Going to re-start this podcast and then go to sleep.

Hello all

Im sure it’s hard getting through all the steps you have to go through dealing with everything @autumnangel. You are doing incredibly well by the sounds of things. Baby steps. But I’d say although it’s hard getting the car sorted is a big tick.

Pancakes look fab @Mumtobabyhavoc!

I started this post yesterday and this is as far as it got!

Anyway. Hugs to all who needs them or just because!

The decorator finished the painting yesterday so I now have a very long list of things to do to put the place back together. Lots of it involves cleaning. Windows and lights today. Outside windows were done yesterday by window cleaner so if I do inside today it may be first time they have all been clean at the same time! At least in the kitchen/dining areas.

We haven’t finished painting the garden room yet. Should be doing it all this week but the house behind it is having some very tall and almost dead cypress trees removed so it’s too noisy and too dusty. Might try doing some inside stuff but I think it will be too loud. The guys doing it wear ear defenders. We will lose a lot of privacy with the trees gone but at least we won’t have to worry about them coming down in a storm. And our TV signal should improve!

@Mumtobabyhavoc - I’ve done a US trip around this time a few years and always get Old Navy Christmas pjs. Not this year unfortunately.

Have a good day all.

Morning 🌻to all who need them.
Weekend was a mixed bag here - lovely to see family, but because of Storm Amy a trip onto the Spanish galleon which is currently in the Liverpool Docks was cancelled. If anything was built to handle rough weather surely that boat was it! Bowling and a leisurely lunch instead for us all. Still wrangling with the garage over the car; it failed it's MOT so more work to pay for grrr. The house is pretty tidy, but have just upended everything in bedroom looking for my credit card 😄
Today

  • washing to do
  • Pay for next bit of car work and pray that gets it through it's MOT and Uber the replacement license plate for the cracked one. DONE
  • the house is pretty tidy so nothing to do there, but water the plants (massively disconcerting but will enjoy while it lasts!)
  • fix bed back up - DONE
  • chase refund for galleon trip - I'd paid for 12 tickets!
  • I've just moaned to the Amazon seller about the late delivery of boxing gloves and requesting a refund and lo and behold they are out for delivery
  • Finance admin - mine are looking pretty rough given the car -DONE
Busy work day today, so best crack on, have a good one, SoE

Don’t seem to be posting much at the moment but am still here and reading and impressed with everyone’s achievements. Hope things are starting to improve for you @mumofoneAloneandwell . You are doing amazingly @autumnangel - I’m sure your DH would be so proud of you. We must be about the same age @WinterFrogs as my children used to watch the same programmes and I was definitely a Hector’s House viewer too!
A fair amount has been achieved here in the last couple of weeks. I went through my filing cabinet and reorganised all my paperwork. So much was out of date so there was loads of shredding to do. I’ve also dealt with phoning lots of organisations to ensure my dad’s LPA is registered with them and that his correspondence address is changed to me or my brother.
Today I’ve:

  • done a Petalerrands trip to the village to take recycling and buy some DIY stuff for DH - also checked if one of the local roads was open which is due to be shut for the next three weeks
  • name labelled new trousers to take to my dad next week when we visit
  • took some earrings to the jewellers to have the posts made slimmer
  • cleaned two bathrooms
  • changed the duvet cover that naughty Junior Petaldog jumped all over with muddy paws

Never Ends GIF by Better Call Saul

Girls i'm going through it 😅😭😭

Will be back soon and will tell you everything xx

Mumtobabyhavoc · 08/10/2025 21:03

@mumofoneAloneandwell sending a handhold, glass of wine and chocolate, really good chocolate. 🩷

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 08/10/2025 21:08

Hugs @mumofoneAloneandwell and @autumnangel . Friendly waves everyone else. Got back this evening from two days working on site (staying overnight) so basically this week is only three days long instead of five and it feels very disconcerting 🫨hopefully normal service will be resume soon!

On the plus side, D had a successful bedtime with the newish babysitter - no crying or wailing 🥳

WinterFrogs · 09/10/2025 07:35

I think we probably are @petalpower 🤗 You wait to see the current TV for children. Some of It's quite hypnotic ( and some presenters will make you want to throw things- looking at you, Blippi!)
In English, @Mumtobabyhavoc I only realised later that Zsa Zsa and Kiki are French names. Isn't YouTube brilliant? I just watched a whole episode ❤️ I had a Kiki soap on a rope once (how very seventies 😆)
I hope you feel less discombobulated as the day goes on @SingleThreadJoiner2

That does sound like a very long list @Peridot1 but so worth it when it's done!
Bah to the cancelled galleon trip @SpiritOfEdna I hope you get your money back!
Brings to mind the John Masefield poem 'Cargoes'. Who else learned it at school?

Huge hugs to @mumofoneAloneandwell life can feel so tough sometimes and it sounds like you are dealing with a lot on your own 🫂

Hello everyone else 👋

Project: top of my chest of drawer has become a mass of clutter. My mission is to spend the all of ten minutes required to put it straight. Oh, and order a prescription on the nhs app. Have a great day all ☕️ 🍰

mumofoneAloneandwell · 09/10/2025 12:06

V outing so won't speak more on this thread 💕

FourSeasonsLobelia · 09/10/2025 13:58

@mumofoneAloneandwell Thanks

Hope so much you are okay and DD is okay. xxx we are here for what you need, if you need to talk or just have our love winding its way to you via cyberspace. xx

Aria999 · 09/10/2025 14:22

Hello all. Sorry for dropping off the thread for a bit. Hugs to those who are having a hard time. I have not been achieving very much, at least partly due to slogging through this training material which I keep getting distracted from.

today's project, de-mould and reseal the grout in the master bathroom.

WinterFrogs · 10/10/2025 15:46

You reminded me to put mould stuff on my bath seal, thank you @Aria999

I am doing admin 😕 Want i want to be doing is a woodland walk and kicking leaves. There is also bolognaise in the oven. Just got to wash up

WinterFrogs · 10/10/2025 15:58

I'm clearly not doing admin because I'm here, procrastinating 🙃
But I have achieved quite a lot.

@mumofoneAloneandwell I think you are the same age as my youngest daughter. I wish I could give you a hug 🫂

Ed to say, not a stalker, promise, just you mentioned age or school year or something at some point on here

Peridot1 · 10/10/2025 17:25

Hi all.

Hope you are ok @mumofoneAloneandwell.

Happy Friday to all.

Had early PT session this morning - well 9am - it’s early for me! Then quick nip into town to pick up a parcel and get a few bits from the supermarket. Two loads of laundry done. This afternoon I washed the patio door windows in the sitting area and the bifold windows in the dining area. And helped DH put a plastic rattan outdoor sofa into the skip we have. Sadly the rattan is coming apart.

Weather supposed to be nice and sunny tomorrow so more painting of garden room is planned. It’s dull and cold here today and we froze yesterday doing it. Almost done I think though. A couple more session over the weekend should do it.

Meatball pasta bake here for dinner with some burratta that needs using up. And wine!

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 10/10/2025 18:54

Thanks @WinterFrogs . Things still feel chaotic but I managed to get into town for an hour and a bit yesterday, dropped off a charity shop bag, picked up new pool slippers for D in bigger size, and also a birthday present for a party she's going to at the weekend. Felt pretty accomplished. Weekend is going to be busy and sociable so looking forward to it!

mumofoneAloneandwell · 10/10/2025 19:44

Home now - place is a state, nothing has changed re my other post, ive gained weight, I think we've both caught covid

😭😅

Gonna take tonight, have some chicken wings and strawberry laces whilst binging eastenders and start again tomorrow

Will catch up on the thread when ive more brainpower but ive seen you all and wishing you all well ❤️

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/10/2025 20:58

Quick hello. 😊
Past few days: vacuumed and washed floors, thorough vacuum of horror bedroom by pulling things away from the walls, started packing dc's vlorhes to donate, pulled fridge out to vacuum behind and wheels broke, cleaned top of fridge. 🤦‍♀️
Today took baby to doctor appt, folded and put clothes away and have another load of laundry on.
Used wand vacuum on couches and area rug then pulled out filter and cleaned out compacted dust using a salad fork. 👍
Off to dentist shortly then will try to pick up prescription at pharmacy for my mum.
It's Thanksgiving this weekend. Will need a grocery shop tonight or tomorrow when Costco opens at 8am, but my preference is tonight just before closing. Planning on roasting a duck and 2 veg, good bread, scalloped potatoes and apple pie or cheesecake.
Also want to take kids to Vandusen Gardens, weather pending. It's grey and rainy atm.
💕to everyone 💕

Mumtobabyhavoc · 10/10/2025 21:05

Have just updated iPhone to v26. 🙄 Maddeningly, cannot flip between browsers or copy and paste url's. Tips welcome

FourSeasonsLobelia · 11/10/2025 06:50

Hi all. waves and hugs to everyone.

Still here, just I don't have alot of brain space for doing much in the house. Just sort of in an extended slump.

Thanks
Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/10/2025 06:52

Hi, Lobelia. Do some nice things for yourself. 🩷

FourSeasonsLobelia · 11/10/2025 06:58

Thanks @Mumtobabyhavoc . I confess I have already been to the 24 hour Tesco to get breakfast for the DCs and picked up a mini bottle of prosecco to have with my lunch. Grin

I am feeling so demotivated and sluggish.

WinterFrogs · 11/10/2025 07:29

Morning all! Boo to covid @mumofoneAloneandwell 😔

Happy Thanksgiving weekend @Mumtobabyhavoc 🥳

Sorry you're feeling like that @FourSeasonsLobelia 😔 Life really does go in peaks and troughs doesn't it? I hope you feel more like yourself soon 💐

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/10/2025 07:43

Lobelia, I'm impressed you can buy alcohol at that hour! We are way more puritanical here. 😂

WinterFrogs · 11/10/2025 14:14

I don't drink ( well barely) but I think you can buy alcohol 24/7 in England.

In our local supermarket there are covers they pull down over expensive make up ranges, due to shoplifting. They used to have them in the booze aisle too in the old days.

I am not vice free - I need to nip out and buy some chocolate ( also craving an apple!) Sugar addict here ( I'm on and off that wagon all the time!)

I am being very lazy. I actually have some work to do and I'm procrastinating again. I a bit blue because I have a knee that has started letting me down so I can't currently manage proper walks which my MH relies on. I'm contemplating starting swimming again to compensate. I carry an extra stone so really I should stop with the chocolate. To quote @mumofoneAloneandwell I'll start again tomorrow!

Aria999 · 11/10/2025 16:13

I've gained weight too and I can't shake it. It's so annoying, I had my weight under control for years and I am not doing anything different but it's apparently stopped working.

My doctor reduced my thyroid medication dose in the summer which I think is what triggered it, I persuaded her to put it up again but although the weight seems to have stopped going up now, I can't get it to go down again!
