A brand new shiny thread. Whether you want to do one extra thing a day, or a brain dump of what you have to do this is the place.

Sounds like a productive trip @Mumtobabyhavoc.

@WinterFrogs - what I mean by paragraphs is that at the end of this sentence I will.

put a full stop and two returns and in the old days it would automatically put a capital letter at the beginning of the new sentence.

it’s definitely not just settings on my device as posters have addressed it with MN and they say it’s difficult to fix.

and even after a couple of years

it still annoys me!

anyway…… I was awake for about three hours in the night stressing about paint colours. Can’t decide on colour for the door frames and skirting boards. I’ve decided it’s the oak doors that are the issue. They are quite orange.

Today:

  • dishwasher - done
  • Laundry
  • PT session at gym
  • lunch with a friend from Australia
  • put laundry from last few days away
  • get some paint samples

Have a great day all.

autumnangel · 26/09/2025 09:58

Hope everyone is good and looking forward to the weekend. I've been quite productive this morning already - I've got a washing out on the line and another load in the machine, set up my spending spreadsheet for the month since it's payday and tidied up around the house. I've got a busy wee day planned:

  • Pack for holiday tomorrow
  • Book taxi to take me to the bus stop
  • Check in for flight and add suitcase
  • Find out how to work DH's tablet and download some films
  • Buy flowers for MIL and take them round to her, maybe go for a walk or coffee and cake with her
  • Sort heating and timers on the lamps
  • Get a key cut for BIL to come round and do a few jobs
  • PACK!!!
SpiritOfEdna · 26/09/2025 16:26

@autumnangel enjoy your break - you made me smile with your taxi to the bus stop.
Better day today - I’ve been ironing and putting stuff away, dishes all done and a big shop picked up. I am trying to break the habit of going to the Coop everyday - an extortionate £1.20 for a packet of chocolate buttons has strengthened my resolve. Sibling back from holiday tomorrow and visitors next weekend so a tidy house is a must.
Still envious of the big shed so off to do the lottery x

SoE I paid just $6.99 for a massive pumpkin pie from Costco that I've been "sampling" three days now. 😂🫣

FourSeasonsLobelia · 27/09/2025 07:13

Oh i LOVE pumpkin pie. I might make some this year.

Have a wonderful holiday @autumnangel ! I hope you have a good chance to rest. Thanks

I self banned myself from the lottery sadly @SpiritOfEdna .... but next week I am SURE to win big on the premium bonds so we can both have new sheds!!

mumofoneAloneandwell · 27/09/2025 14:03

Just popping on to say hi to you all - have a lovely weekend and will focus to read the updates soon ❤️

WinterFrogs · 27/09/2025 14:37

I get a euromillions ticket each week. Not won more than a fiver in all the years it's been going. Doesn't stop me planning what I'd do with it though...

I have been making soup out of leftovers again and I had a fit of enthusiasm and cleaned all the inside windows!

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 28/09/2025 14:22

@Aria999 ,let's form a Perennial Catchup Mode Club! 😁

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend, it's a bit grey and dreary here. Had a successful day yesterday, sent off some books to Sell Your Books, booked a flu shot for next week, and hosted a successful dinner for our guests.

Today we went to see the PILs at the care home with my D, I was glad she didn't cause too much chaos. We're going to hopefully catch up on Strictly shortly 🪩

FourSeasonsLobelia · 29/09/2025 07:03

Morning all.

Everyone is having busy days!

Busy here too today and a busy week ahead with a number of things ggoing on at the school I have to attend.

Plus I have GOT to book in some tip runs!

Hope everyone has a good day. xx

Mumtobabyhavoc · 29/09/2025 07:36

I should be asleep, but.... watching a series (Parenthood. So. Good!) on Netflix. 🤷‍♀️
I vacuumed and changed the bed/washed sheets earlier today then steam-mopped the floors and area rugs and steamed my bed's mattress protector. In between all that I took dc for a miniature train ride and then Liege waffles and a walk around S Granville. I was going to do a grocery shop at Costco, but instead decided to figure out what I could make at home. Made a pizza with the leftover ground beef I had from 2 nights ago. Felt smug it didn't go to waste. And it was damn good. 😛

eta: and repaired dc's Halloween costumes. Brand new + super excited kids = ripped zipper on one and stitching on the other. 😠. Sewing is not my favourite past time. 🙄

😪😪 - attached photo of my wing mirror. Managed to ding another car on the school run this morning, now spending the day figuring out how to reattach it myself

@Mumtobabyhavoc you're ahead with the Halloween costumes, I havent thought about dd's
That pizza looks epic!

@FourSeasonsLobelia have a lovely day

@WinterFrogs @SpiritOfEdna I won £5 on the euromillions on friday 😭, just bought myself another ticket

If I won, omg I would move to New York!! One can dream

@SingleThreadJoiner2 glad the visit with the pil and dd went well, are they settled in nicely? I caught strictly, rooting for Ross (the itv Hollywood reporter) even though he isnt great 😄

@Peridot1 this garden room is amazing! Your decor plans have inspired me to get going with mine - bought some paint for my bedroom, will hopefully get it done this week!

Take care everyone, wish me luck trying to sort my wing mirror xxx

Daily Project round 8
Peridot1 · 29/09/2025 09:31

Good morning all.

Oh dear to the wing mirror @mumofoneAloneandwell. Not a good start to the week!

@Mumtobabyhavoc - that pizza looks yum.

I had a busy weekend with two nights out so was shattered yesterday. And as it was raining we couldnt’t do any more shed painting. Which I was happy about. Having to rethink the colour too as the one I picked thinking it was a nice soft pale green/grey is a lot paler than I expected. I think it will just look white.

Did make a decision about the colour for the skirting boards and door frames which is to stick with what I originally picked! It looks a lot different against the new wall colour than the old which is what was putting me off. Just got one wall to decide on now. Dark blue or pale neutral. It’s a panelled wall which will have a large bright painting on. If we go dark blue we need new sofas as our current ones are dark blue too. They were a cheap temporary fix when we moved here anyway.

Today’s list:

  • dishwasher- done
  • fold laundry - done
  • put laundry away
  • do more laundry (it’s never ending!)
  • organise to get ironing done (last of the summer ironing - hardly have any in winter)
  • message my sisters about going over to Ireland next month
  • change a bed
  • paint

And I need to either go for a walk to to the gym.

Have a great day all.

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 29/09/2025 21:22

@mumofoneAloneandwell how is the wing mirror?! How annoying for you!

And thank you, yes, PILs have taken to the care home remarkably well, we are so grateful and relieved - even better than we had hoped for for!

Quite a productive day today, got my flu shot, paid for for D's after school club, ordered her dance class uniform, arranged to pass on some toddler clothes, made dinner (pasta with courgette and smoked cheese). Lots of small jobs, but glad to be able to tick them off!

mumofoneAloneandwell · 29/09/2025 21:51

Thank you @SingleThreadJoiner2 and @Peridot1 🥰

I took the car to a mechanic in a super super rough area 😄😄 (and given that I grew up in one, it was rough!) and it turned out I met the loveliest guys!

They glued the wing mirror back on for me and then taped it with the frog tape i'd bought, and one young boy was making me laugh. And didnt charge me!! - gave them some biscuits i'd bought for dd and some coke zero cans (still drinking them 😔)

I feel so grateful, especially as I was feeling so shit this morning.

Glad your pil are doing well @SingleThreadJoiner2 its good news xx

@Peridot1 i'm kind of into navy blue sofas you know - maybe you could get new ones though - glad its coming along - half of decorating is deciding honestly xx

Mumtobabyhavoc · 29/09/2025 22:00

MumofOne: I made stuffed peppers on Friday, so I had sautéed ground beef with diced mushrooms and chopped grape tomatoes. For the pizza, I put pesto down first, the beef mix, spinach then cheddar from the mixed cheese tray I buy every week and it's always the last cheese eaten. 🙄
I guess you could call it a cheeseburger pizza? 🤔

And sorry about your car! Frustrating!

FourSeasonsLobelia · 30/09/2025 06:38

@Mumtobabyhavoc alot of the youtubers I follow (UK-based_ do something called a cheeseburger pasta.I plan to try it one day!

(Not today though- a more traditional McDonalds one as we have to pick the DCs up at 4.30 then be back at school at 5.30 for an information evening. )

Mumtobabyhavoc · 30/09/2025 08:00

Lobelia, I think you can put most left overs onto a pizza and cover with cheese. Smug pizza? 😁

I did a very thorough vacuuming, moving the couches and vacuuming behind/under, along the baseboards and then taking cushions off and vacuuming the couches. After that made my way to my favourite item, a bench with copper coloured legs and a white fluffy cover. 😍 It has suffered two spilled coffees, and is sadly stained and matted. I vacuumed it then got a hairbrush and brushed it thoroughly in all directions. I think it helped!!!!! I'm unsure how to get the stains out, but I've made some progress at least. After that I vacuumed the kitchen, pulled the fridge out and vacuumed behind it, knocked it off kilter somehow and now it's wobbly. ☹️ So will have to figure that out later/tbd. Add that to the one step forward, two steps back list. 🙄 Then I grabbed a few armfuls of clothes from the laundry basket and threw them into the wash; turned on the dishwasher and folded the dc's clothes.
Have now got dc bundled up with blankets and pillows on a very clean couch and put paddington 2 on Prime.
we're up late because we all crashed and slept the whole afternoon. Tomorrow is a holiday, so a late night tonight is ok.

Peridot1 · 30/09/2025 09:10

@mumofoneAloneandwell - great result on the wing mirror. I’m from a fairly rough area too originally and yet there were always lovely helpful people - the majority. It’s always a small group of individuals who give places a bad name.

I do like dark blue sofas. The only issue is if we go dark blue on that wall the sofas will blend in. I suspect we will end up with the same pale neutral in the wall that the rest of the room is. But I would like something a bit richer.

The hardest part of decorating is making decisions. And the most expensive bit is making mistakes with those decisions!

@SingleThreadJoiner2 - it’s great that your in-laws have settled so well. Must be a relief all round.

@Mumtobabyhavoc - that sounds really good. Both the stuffed peppers and the pizza. Might try something similar.

I think I have some cheeseburger pasta recipes saved on Pinterest @FourSeasonsLobelia. Might even have tried one once! Might give it a go again.

So my day today will be very similar to yesterday - I’ve done dishwasher/kitchen and put the supermarket delivery away and put some washing on. Didn’t get all my list done yesterday so today I need to change a bed, organise to get the ironing done, pay a bill. And then more painting. We got quite a lot done yesterday as it was such a lovely day.

Also need to go for a walk.

Photo attached of a garden visitor this morning.

How nice! 😍

eta: re Peridot's deer pic.

SpiritOfEdna · 01/10/2025 10:18

@mumofoneAloneandwell see you got sorted with your wing mirror. I had the brake fluid klaxon of doom over the weekend so back to the drawing board with that one - so back to the garage we go this afternoon It's topped up for now, but it will go again soon
Today

  • Some holes to fill where I've moved the fixtures for the curtain rail - man it was heavy and I managed to give myself tennis elbow manoeuvering the teeny tiny screws into place - thankfully it's better today
  • waiting for some Amazon delivery
  • taken the tool box out of the shed and am re-arranging it 😄Still haven't found what I was looking for (drum roll music 😄)
  • coffee pods recycling
  • just picked up the Rug Doctor machine and am primed to do my bed - lots of muddy paws and coffee stains and then the sofa
  • we will have a house full on Friday so may need to fix a lock to the bathroom door bought one, found another, cancelled one 😃
  • back at ref pilates this morning - that was brutal getting up so early
  • need a trip to the tip in the next couple of days - depends on whether I have a car or not
Have a good one, SoE

Hello all…home from 4 days in Reykjavík, Iceland. A very bittersweet experience as it was my 40th birthday gift from DH and he should have been there. He sent me lots of signs so I guess in a way he was with me. Back to reality now. Yesterday me was ever so kind to today me and ordered a food shopping to be delivered this afternoon. Could this be the start of a new more organised me?…probably not 🤣

  • unpack
  • put a washing on
  • tidy out fridge
  • put shopping away
  • sort photos from holiday
  • think of some goals to set for October
  • make a decent meal - as much as I enjoy eating out I really need a proper meal at home.
  • go for a walk
  • look through DH paperwork for some bits I need
  • online bereavement support group this evening
mumofoneAloneandwell · 01/10/2025 20:04

Hey everyone

Had a bad head day today. The past few weeks ive been living in the past 😔😔

So kept dd home (i know 😪) and spent the day cleaning my bedroom. Did a bit of painting just to make a start - i wanted a chocolate vibe for my room but ive gone too dark and its come out grey so will need to revisit the dulux site

@Mumtobabyhavoc that sounds epic - me and dd are in a rut of eating the same meals so will get creative and try and make her a pizza tomorrow - got some mince in as well! Well done on the vacuuming, managed to get some done today myself

Hi @autumnangel wow rekyjavic sounds lovely - i think its great that you still went and I think he was there beside you. Best of luck with tonight's support group, i hope it help

Thank you @FourSeasonsLobelia and @SpiritOfEdna I cant believe how lucky I got, honestly. I was expecting to have to fork out hundreds. I even began to adjust to life without it and did a food shop before going to the mechanic 😄. Wishing you the same luck with the brake fluid, spirit. Cars eh 😪

Omg @Peridot1 that deer is so cute, what a photo! Do you live deep in the countryside now? The closest ive been to anything exciting is this unwell fox outside our local greggs 😄😄. Poor thing just hangs out playing with stuff. Tried to feed him a sausage roll once but he was more interested in an old shoe, bless him

Completely agree re just meeting salt of the earth people in areas with bad reputations, honestly

Have a lovely evening everyone i havent mentioned, take care of yourselves, especially if youre in the path of storm Amy (iirc) xx

WinterFrogs · 01/10/2025 21:03

Lots of love to you all ❤️
@autumnangel and @mumofoneAloneandwell 💐

I have had a very long day but 👋 everyone

Gorgeous deer @Peridot1 I see a lot in my travels but never had one in my garden. Fox families and hedgehogs though 💕
