A brand new shiny thread. Whether you want to do one extra thing a day, or a brain dump of what you have to do this is the place.

indeed, mine @WinterFrogs tis the season for birthdays in my family but I'm the first 😃
Today:

  • plants need watering, the one by me is bone dry
  • I keep wandering round to find my phone and finding other things I need, but now I need my phone
  • sitting on my hands to stop sending a crabby email in response to a crabby email in response to my crabby email😄Added: they decided to call me rather than exchange increasingly terse emails.
  • I found the curtains I loved on an old photo on my phone from ages ago and they still exist and can be bought.... lesson for today tidy your photos up on your phone. No wonder my google searches didn't bring them back.
  • new bar stool has arrived so I can work in the kitchen finally
  • wall rebuild quote - just waiting for confirmation of time they come to quote
  • Sort accommodation for Cornwall- not my task though Added - we have somewhere and they have offered surf lessons. It'll be cold 😄
  • SpiritDoggo was a bit barky last night - but is more settled today; lol as am I - bed at 8:30 last night after a couple of disturbed nights. (aka drinking coffee after 10am for a couple of days - I live the life)
  • Boring stuff - load of washing on, desk tidied (lots of coffee cups), junk picked off bedroom floor, will carry on with general tidying.
Right a day of meetings beckons, have a good one, SoE

Thank you for the beautiful picture @Mumtobabyhavoc and happy birthday @SpiritOfEdna !

Running on fumes here, lots of multi day work events and on site days and useless trains. Will be treading water until after the end of next week. BUT I am almost on top of laundry, and have sorted out February half term plans, and am making some progress with D's learning her (small amount of) lines for the nativity play, so I won't complain too much.

WinterFrogs · 07/11/2025 07:05

Happy belated birthday @SpiritOfEdna!

@mumofoneAloneandwell a thread came up on active which I'm guessing was yours. Lots of love to you both 💕

@SingleThreadJoiner2 sounds like you have a lot on!

Have you got straight now from your trip to Ireland @Peridot1? I hope you had a lovely time!

@petalpower I love that you still meet with your antenatal class friends! My lot all grew apart but I do still have friends that I made when the children are small. There have been weddings and new babies this year 💕

Are you all feeling better yet @Mumtobabyhavoc?

I had a good sleep but I've woken up all jittery and not sure why. My mother just called, clearly unintentionally, from her mobile, so that was a shot of adrenaline. Maybe it's that. She's in safe hands now but I'm still hypervigilant from her last couple of years at home, I guess.

I need to clean the fridge today. Best get going. Hope you all have a good day 😊

petalpower · 07/11/2025 07:44

Cleaning the fridge was one of my extra jobs yesterday @WinterFrogs !
Today’s going to be a busy one - need to pick up a parcel for DD, get senior dog a vet appointment as she’s still not well, have an ECG (me- routine for heart condition), make three cakes for 5 visitors who are staying for the weekend and get the house ready for said visitors. Dog walk first for junior dog who’s full of beans and raring to go!

Peridot1 · 07/11/2025 09:48

Morning all.

I am back from Ireland @WinterFrogs but managed to get flu somehow. Probably on the plane. Felt like I’d been hit by a bus yesterday and I spent the day in bed sleeping and shivering.

I got back on Monday and went to a pub quiz that tonight so maybe I picked it up there. Still not feeling great but better than yesterday.

My house is a mess though and even though I cancelled someone coming over yesterday morning she still came- she thought my message was from someone else. It was a meeting with DH anyway but I’m mortified by the state of the house. The hall is full of shoes and washing and bags and boxes and the kitchen is messy with stuff everywhere. Ugh.

Not planning on trying to do much today.

Belated birthday wishes @SpiritOfEdna.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 07/11/2025 16:12

Thank you @WinterFrogs and everyone for your well wishes

Happy belated birthday @SpiritOfEdna !! Hope it was a lovely one

Love to you all ❤️❤️

Mumtobabyhavoc · 07/11/2025 23:36

Lots of little jobs done here today:
Amazon picked up toy for return
Handyman repaired kitchen cupboard, changed bathroom faucet, removed closet doors and ordered new doors as the other new doors were damaged
I 'm off to do an errand for my mum shortly
Will likely go to Costco later, after dinner
I removed broken baby locks from 4 cupboards/closets/drawers with success, but a bit of minor damage from prying despite using hairdryer to loosen the adhesive 🤷‍♀️

Need to sort why my phone's internet start page has gone blank; was googling middle of the night and cannot figure it out.

The knitting everyone is chatting about sounds fun. 🤗
Glad to hear doggo is thriving. 🩷
Now I want poached eggs. 😛

Vet trip for senior dog wasn’t good. We found she had several tumours and had to have her put to sleep. Just so sad as she was my dad’s dog. Pets have such a special place in your heart. We have a house full of visitors ( all very kind) so I’m trying to put a brave face on things.

Oh petal, I am so sorry 😞.

Did you all get a chance to say goodbye?

Yes, this is a true loss of a family member, you take as much time as you need to feel what you need to feel 🥺❤️

I dont know much about her, so please share what you feel comfortable sharing about her, if and when you are able ❤️

Mumtobabyhavoc · 08/11/2025 02:10

Oh, no @petalpower What a shock! 😢
Not what was expected at all. I'm sorry. 💐

Aria999 · 08/11/2025 02:47

😢 @petalpower xxxx

SingleThreadJoiner2 · 08/11/2025 07:49

Oh @petalpower what a shock. Sending hugs xxx

FourSeasonsLobelia · 08/11/2025 09:26

Hugs to you @petalpower xx. I am so so sorry.

WinterFrogs · 08/11/2025 09:59

I am very sorry to hear this @petalpower 💔 They leave such a hole, don't they?
Much love to you and yours 💐

Peridot1 · 08/11/2025 10:05

I am so sorry @petalpower. Poor doggy. We had to have our black lab put to sleep a year ago tomorrow. They leave such a huge hole. And especially as it was your Dad’s dog. Sending hugs.

SpiritOfEdna · 08/11/2025 14:30

@petalpower 💐 so sorry x

Thank you all for being so lovely. I feel silly being so upset about a dog when lots of other people have such difficult things happening in their lives.
@mumofoneAloneandwell yes, we got chance to say goodbye. The vet called after doing a scan to give us the bad news and we went and had half an hour with her giving her lots of cuddles. She looked so unwell we knew we were making the right decision. She was my dad’s black lab who came to live with us last year after dad went into a nursing home with Alzheimer’s. Such a gentle, lovely soul who just fitted into our lives like she’d always been there. Unfortunately only DH and I could get to see her as DD and DS weren’t able too get there in time. Junior Petaldog is very out of sorts and keeps wandering about and not settling. I can’t bear to move her bed and still have her lead and collar in my handbag from last night. I just keep expecting to see her.

PS: Please don’t feel you can’t say anything about projecteering today.

Peridot1 · 08/11/2025 15:09

@petalpower - I can’t get rid of our dog’s leads. Or the dog! We still have her ashes and our other dog’s ashes in a cupboard. We are planting some trees in the garden this week so we might plant them under the trees if DS agrees.

No projecteering going on here - still feel rough. DS kindly tells me old age does that. 🙄. Gorgeous day here for a walk around the fields but I don’t think I’d make it to the bottom of the garden right now.

Oh 🥺❤️

And poor jr petaldog as well.

You definitely have no reason to feel silly, she was family - this is a difficult time. My love to you all xx

mumofoneAloneandwell · 08/11/2025 16:33

Project wise, just put up some christmas lights in mine and dds bedroom (given up calling it my room now)

Just need to do the same to the living room window, put a load of washing on, and do some reading. Its day one off of the coke zero and i miss it so much I am tempted to order some 🙈

Love to you all on the thread, thank you for being a true safe space xx

FourSeasonsLobelia · 08/11/2025 18:36

We still have our dog leads on their hook. I can't move them either. The last one died during the first lockdown.

Hope everyone is as well as can be expected. Thanks

Not much projecteering going on here. We have a surprise birthday party tonight- for a 75 year old and it starts at 9 pm. Honestly I'm WAY too old for this sort of caper.

More tomorrow. Thanks

Mumtobabyhavoc · 08/11/2025 21:08

Just watching a live production (pvr'd) of Wicked songs, all the major stars etc. Just gorgeous, gorgeous vouces and music.
Havoc was askeep last night by 8pm, baby and I around 9:30pm. I was up at 6:30am and shocked I had been asleep mist of the night. Havoc was up nit long after ne, got breakfast for us and, feeling energetic, took the kuds with me, both of them, to Costco. On a Saturday. 😵‍💫
Barely survived that. Honestly.

Have got towels/washcloths bleach-washed, dried and put away. Made us an easy brunch of fruit, chicken, bagels with pb&j. Two lattes for me. Feeling very happy to have successfully returned grapes, strawberries and gloves to Costco. Also confirmed they will take back my kettle purchased June '23. 🤗
The milk frother I bought in from Amazon in August is also being replaced and seller is sending me a replacement.
My phone fixed itself re the start page to Safari suddenly being blank.
Found baby's sunglasses I thought dropped in Costco; spent 20 mins back-tracking trying to find, asked at lost & found ... 😵‍💫
Already have refund for toy returned to Amazon yesterday.
I am going to plan new bed frame purchases x4 and see what I can get on sale as Black Friday sales are coming up. If I can find some very good deals I will make some purchases and change our bedrooms around. We need to trade around to maximize use of space.
Just simmering chicken carcass for soup later.
Next admin is to call tv/internet provider and get a better deal. Paying way too much and will drop some channel bundles if necessary.

Love and support to everyone today. 🩷💐

WinterFrogs · 08/11/2025 21:37

I had collars and leads hanging up for years, but have now discarded them, just keeping the tags 💔
That all sounds very productive @Mumtobabyhavoc!
Your 75 year old must be a night owl @FourSeasonsLobelia I hope they have a great party!

I bet your liitle one loves the lights @mumofoneAloneandwell

I walked on the beach today. It was a very high, high tide. Due to the full moon last week I think.

I have been slovenly today. Washing up is waiting for tomorrow morning and I have let clutter creep. I also went to the shop after dinner to buy junk food. The struggle is real!
Headed for an early night and will get my act together tomorrow.

Night night xx

FourSeasonsLobelia · 08/11/2025 23:47

Back from the party. Had a FABULOUS time. Met a few new people who were delightful and just really enjoyed myself.

When we left 30-ish minutes ago the Birthday gentleman (it seems odd to say Birthday Boy) was clearly settling in for an extensive night. Smile . Apparently his actual birthday was yesterday and he partied with his family until 4 am, not knowing there was to be a second round incoming. Grin

Love to you all. A walk on tthe beach sounds blissful @WinterFrogs

Mumtobabyhavoc · 09/11/2025 05:25

I returned the kettle jyst before clising this evening! 🤗
I then wandered over to the toys and bought and dc a Christmas present and took a look at Christmas lights - that I do not need.
