Pull up a chair for some friendly chit chat about politics and beyond BrewCakeBiscuit

Taxes optional but greatly appreciated.

I was trying to remember the guy who had to resign from the last government over his tax affairs to make a joke that maybe he had advised Angela Rayner.

I couldn't remember the name, so I went looking

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_departures_from_the_second_Johnson_ministry

Rightly so.

Blimey you're all very chatty! I was just thinking I hadn't seen a notification for these threads - think I actually missed a whole thread!

With the greatest respect, the existence of flags here or there is a fucking sideshow at the moment.

There are far more significant issues in play, including Cooper’s asylum ‘reforms’, and Rayner’s tax affairs, all of which segue into Starmer’s ‘Phase 2’ - read ‘please give me more time…’

Aye luv.

With the greatest respect, may I suggest we don't allow another massive derail?

I agree. As I've informed our new friend, it's surely not the case that she is trying to dictate what we should and should not discuss? If we want to talk about cats, cluster headaches and roundabouts, we can. For complaints about the government, the relevant thread is >>> that way.

menonprohibebis · 01/09/2025 21:34

Cool, then I shall lean into the topic du jour.

pointythings · 01/09/2025 21:34

It's just a shame the Dutch don't have a women's rugby squad worthy of the name, otherwise I'd consider putting up the orange flag,

I had a lovely caramel cake at dinner this evening. Image coming up.

Edited

I need to make some flapjacks, but after last weekend I have baking fatigue. The cat rescue fundraiser raised £2.5 k. However, DD has made another delicious batch of passata with our home grown tomatoes.

DuncinToffee · 01/09/2025 21:37

It was. It was dessert at the fish restaurant in the same street as my hotel. It rather negated the health benefits of my grilled salmon salad. 😉

PandoraSocks · 01/09/2025 21:43

@DuncinToffee be careful.

You’re on holiday. Normal rules don’t apply.

Notonthestairs · 01/09/2025 21:52

Oh for heavens sakes. Is anyone else also annoyed at how shoddy the paintwork is? At least do it evenly.

bombastix · 01/09/2025 21:53

I don’t know if it’s right to want this stuff to look better, but that has a plague quality to it which is not good
