Does anyone else really fancy Steve Coogan?

He is just so funny and so good looking.

I just saw his Kate Bush medley from when he was much younger - has he ever been truly celebrated for how good looking he is?

I saw him decades ago when he was still doing stand up and he was in the bar after and seemed quite normal. A lot taller than I thought. I didn’t fancy him though.

augustusglupe · 25/08/2025 16:24

I fancy him, I bet he’s filthy 😄

AyeRight78 · 25/08/2025 16:32

Yes he is my guilty crush. And I find him hilarious. Him and the comedian Jonathan Pie. I appreciate dark humour a lot!

@agoodfriendofthethree

How successful is the, ‘I can make you famous’, chat up line? And have any of these people become famous?

It's a no from me - but Courtney Love did.

TraceyDeacy · 25/08/2025 16:35

I remember reading his book and thinking that it sounded just like Alan Partridge’s memoir. I didn’t stick with it to find out about relationships, though.

No, he's horrible. I know a member of his family.

Shortandtothepoint · 25/08/2025 16:37

No, absolutely not.

All I know is that his chat up lines had a zero percent success rate that evening, so none of the party guests have any subsequent fame to report 😂

God I would, yes. I’m not aware he’s ever thought to have coerced anyone, has he? He’s just very very filthy. I’m quite up for that, or would have been back in the day, not that he would so much as have flicked eyes in my direction.

PauliesWalnuts · 25/08/2025 16:41

I’m torn. He went to my school as did the rest of his family - one even taught there - and I remember in the intro day age 11 we watched the annual school production which that year was something he’d actually written; a parody of Star Wars called Star Flaws. It was utterly brilliant.

He hasn’t exactly covered himself in glory when it comes to women, but then when paying tribute to some of the teachers in my school (BDH and Mr Wilde especially, which he did on the One Show a couple of years back, went to funerals and so on, makes me think he’s a decent human being who made some really really stupid decisions.

TraceyDeacy · 25/08/2025 16:41

‘Filthy’ as in ‘lavatorial’ ?@PermanentTemporary

He has lovely parents, too, doesn’t he @PauliesWalnuts ? They fostered children, I seem to recall from the bit of the memoir that I read.

Like Permanent I would, and the sleazy persona is kind of part of it…I think it’s because he is well known to be kind of a knob, it’s not hidden at all!
He is very, very funny.

MyDogHumpsThings · 25/08/2025 17:40

Hi Steve! What brings you round these parts? 🥲

Moveoverdarlin · 25/08/2025 17:42

TheBeesTrees · 25/08/2025 12:48

He's a sleeze

For me, that just adds to the appeal.

PistachioTiramisuLimoncello · 25/08/2025 17:43

Good lord no! But each to their own op 🤷🏻‍♀️

clarepetal · 25/08/2025 17:43

I used to be friends with someone who dated him. She told me he had a huge penis and was absolute filth in bed.

PistachioTiramisuLimoncello · 25/08/2025 17:44

What has he done that’s sleezy?

TraceyDeacy · 25/08/2025 17:55

He nearly ran me over on his bike.

He’s brilliant and handsome, but he’s ageing into Alan Partridge. As a pp said, the autobiography is pure Alan.

PermanentTemporary · 25/08/2025 18:03

Filthy as in… anyone remember that line from Les Liaisons Dangereuses when John Makkovich says ‘I have taught her to perform quite naturally acts that one would hesitate to request from a professional”? That sort of vibe. Like you’d be in bed with him and there’d be some really startling things on offer, but without any fanfare or ‘I’m really kinky, me’ he’d just do them. But also no pushback if you didn’t want to.

I may be overthinking this.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 25/08/2025 18:05

Oh dear god no. Even his personality radiates arrogance which I find off putting.

Love Alan though.

SomeKindOfMeh · 25/08/2025 18:11

He’s a Libra man. I know 3 and they’re all the same — sweet, hilarious, intelligent, charming, sleazy, skirt-chasers, barely on nodding teens with the truth..

TulipTuesday · 25/08/2025 18:11

I kind of fancy Steve Coogan, but I’m genuinely in love with Alan Partridge.

I constantly listen to ‘From the Oasthouse’ or any of the AP audiobooks. I just love him. I could totally see myself with Alan.
