Does anyone else really fancy Steve Coogan?

He is just so funny and so good looking.

I just saw his Kate Bush medley from when he was much younger - has he ever been truly celebrated for how good looking he is?

I bet the actress who plays Lynn has many, MANY tales to share! She has been stuck with him for years!
I love Alan Partridge. He seems to get better and funnier each year - except for his on stage stand up, which was atrocious. Steve as a person though does absolutely nothing for me fancying wise.

TraceyDeacy · 25/08/2025 21:14

I think Caroline Aherne had real affection for him.

An old friend of mine had sex with him. He was absolutely terrible and cried afterwards. But that’s drugs for you

I really loved Paul and Pauline Calf. I remember Pauline listing all the pubs she was going to go in on her hen night and they were actual pubs of our home town, which anyone from there would have just LOVED.

Spudlover · 25/08/2025 22:45

I used to frequent the same pub as him back in the early 2000s and he’s really not very nice. He had a real “don’t you know who I am?” attitude and would walk out if anyone tried to chat with him.

So no!

God I remember that. The Albion was one of them. I have always loved the Paul Calf video diaries. Preferred them to Partridge.

I sold him a toaster about 30 years ago, I have nothing more to add.

27pilates · 25/08/2025 23:04

No, don’t fancy him at all 🥴 but he is very entertaining as a film actor, the Penguin film, Jimmy Saville & Philomena were really good. Don’t like the comedy stuff, sorry and aesthetically not that pleasing.

Don’t leave it there, we need the details! 2 slice or 4?

I used to but he’s gone off a bit with age as most of us do. I’d still do young Steve, not that I’d get the chance as I doubt I’d ever have made his list even in my foxyish prime.

Age isn’t everything; I wouldn’t kick Ralph Fiennes or Zinedine Zidane out of bed and they must be knocking on a bit.

Ooh I am with you on RF and ZZ - met the latter once in Paris, he has amazing eyes, I was butter.

But SC, I don't get that at all. He looks like his breath smells like a Pepperami.

HauntedBungalow · 26/08/2025 00:49

Ooh, he does a bit now you've said it.

He is very funny and talented but he can't do accents. Ruins every film he's in when he tries one. I reckon eventually Alan Partridge will completely take over, like that old black and white film with the killer ventriloquist dummy.

But. Anyone who is so filthy he shocks Courtney Love is ... intriguing.

I'd only want a shag however. He'd be a rubbish boyfriend.

happymelissa · 26/08/2025 04:58

I love him! Have loved him since his stand up days, think he’s so so clever and talented. I was last in a queue at a book signing once and he was a little bit grumpy - but given he’d done it (in character) for 3 hours and it was supposed to be 45 minutes I will cut him some slack.

Having worked in a career where I met a few celebrities (not him), I have realised the saying ‘don’t meet your heroes’ is true. I have been disappointed by what an arse many creatives I admire are in real life.

I developed ‘categories of arseholery’ - merely hilariously self-obsessed and transactional OR active bastard. Occasionally I would stumble into a third category that was merely ‘pretentious arsehole’ which was also unbearable but they didn’t treat you like an extra in the film of their life.

Only worked with two celebrity/creatives who were genuinely nice people, treated everyone they worked with nicely and just gave out ‘nice vibes’

Scotch egg, surely?

Yes! If me and my sister are going out and deciding what pub to go to before the restaurant, we (try to) list them all. Was is something like The Millers, The Weavers, The Roebuck, Cromwell’s Fun Pub?

He is clearly very talented which is attractive but he’s also clearly a cunt. Claiming furlough money for his gardener during covid as the same time as pretending to be ‘right on’? 🙄 knob. That’s without all the womanising and the ego. Jeez.

He’s also Alan Partridge in everything to me - even in his acclaimed roles… Stan Laurel, Jimmy Saville, Tristan thingy… nah just Alan. The only thing that didn’t was where he played himself in The Trip with Rob Brydon, but then strip away AP and there is just an arrogant dick.

I’m a fan of his comedy but I wouldn't find some self aggrandising bore sexually attractive in a million years. Y’all are mad.

Paul Calf’s Video Diary from 1993/4. It might be on YouTube? Then there was the fights, wedding and funeral video diary which was Pauline’s wedding to Spiros a Greek bloke she’d met on holiday “when I saw him slapping those women’s arses I thought that’s the man for ME!”

Ugh, no. I think he's repulsive.

This. Talented he may be but there's something dandruffy and pointy about him that I can't stomach. He has a bad rep around women too I think.

I suppose this thread has been a bit of an eye-opener 😔. Why would he be so silly? He’s got it all!

Spill the beans. Who were the nice ones? Who was in the really creepy category?
