I’m an atheist. I spend more time in churches than most vicars. Addiction to church music means I sing it a lot. Here’s a bit of me (and about 40 mates) on tour.

Very nice 😁.
I'm also a cat owning, regular church going (choir member) atheist. Singing the weekend services at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle later in October.
Experience would suggest that quite a few church choir members are closet atheists 🤣

I just listened to this. It is gorgeous. I am also an atheist, but I love churches and religious music and art

Thanks for posting this.

That choir/music/singing is so beautiful.

LlttledrummergirI · 22/08/2025 23:31

@cardibach that is beautiful. I adore churches and mediaeval buildings but not so keen on sermons. I sang in a church choir when I was a child- the music is beautiful, but sadly came to realise that people would happily pay me not to sing. I am definitely not blessed in that department.

I'm thinking of giving the can't sing choir a go.

Interestingly, the wonky red line paint on roundabouts has appeared in the more expensive housing area before my poor part of town. Not what I would have expected at all.

EmeraldRoulette · 23/08/2025 02:16

@LlttledrummergirI why do you say it's not what you would have expected?

MsJinks · 23/08/2025 06:34

Ventured over the county border yesterday, started seeing the odd flag, then hit a short stretch of road with loads of St George/Union Jacks all half mast on lampposts - rather disturbing tbh - then no more of them as I drove on. Not sure why it was so condensed into a small spot of road, maybe one person bulk bought. I’m glad I don’t live on that street it would be unnerving - it’s a fairly not well to do road at all but no worse or better than surrounding places I went through.

I said ventured as the county is Reform led so perhaps not over surprising. Hopefully, rain today will wash them away - they do look tacky and depressing even without the connotations.

So far, here in Tory Central there isn’t a hint of a flag anywhere.

Saucery · 23/08/2025 09:11

I’m going on a 7 hour journey today. I’ll keep my eyes open for flag shagger hotspots Grin Joking apart, we’re White, so I can only try to imagine what travelling round the UK in this atmosphere must be like for people who aren’t. Bloody horrendous.

countrygirl99 · 23/08/2025 09:19

Drove past our local refugee hotel this morning, no protestors but it was 7.30. clearly part timers! One flag on a footbridge over the A6 and a few on one bridge over the A14.
I'm now sitting in the middle of a field until mid afternoon wondering whether they'd be stupid enough to try and attach flags to the neighbouring wind turbines.

Their ladders won’t reach the top of an average lamp post so I think wind turbines will be safe. Although isn’t there an episode of Camberwick Green where Windy Miller gets caught up on one of the windmill sails? That would be hilarious, so I hope they do try it.

countrygirl99 · 23/08/2025 09:26

@Saucery I had fond imaginings of them going round and round at great height but there's no wind at the moment.

I completely agree.

I agree.

Please provide a link to the ‘racist shit’ and I will happily report it.

I dont want ‘it’ as it stands, and I am married to a person who is ‘non-white’.

I am also not a racist.

Goldenbear · 23/08/2025 09:38

Thanks for new thread DuncinToffee.

The local paper has reported on flags been attached to lampposts on the outskirts of the city I live in but not centrally.

Many areas of law are open to interpretation, and the judiciary is not apolitical.

Let’s agree to disagree.

What's your solution then- get rid of the rule of law, the essential to the existence of a democracy or is it the democracy bit you don't care for?

Meanwhile, Cooper is using taxpayers' money to fund an appeal so that she can continue doing something that taxpayers don't want.

This taxpayer is fine with it, as long as work is being done to speed up.claims, collaborate internationally and attack people trafficking at source (and it is). The likes of you don't speak for me.

That is a well written article @BIossomtoes And something many of us have been trying to get accross on other threads

But the failure on small boats eclipses all else

The beloved mayor is piping up about this issue. He's had quite a lot of pushback.

Must admit I didn't know we had any at all locally. Which is kind of the point - most people don't know until they are told.

Thank God for that. I was starting to worry about myself as I read it but perhaps it’s Fraser who should be worried!
