It seems the police think this isn’t a matter for them 😡 Contractors removing flags face abuse - councillor https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cjw6p24ev90o

They should have left them till the schools go back.

Went on 3 threads yesterday - it’s like whack a mole on here - except I can’t whack it seems, nor keep up - I try to add facts and not be rude but idk if it’s worth it at times - other times I think I should at least say something.
It’s the bad misinformation and misunderstanding that annoys me much more than disagreement with my personal opinion of where we are heading, and what I’d prefer, which I acknowledge could be challenged/disagreed with and that would be fine - good even to have debate.
Frogface won’t send ‘them all back’ - countries have to accept them as their citizen if they’ve no id and apparently they’ve all got no id - hardly sending them to France either are we in reality. I mean I’m sure there are options to remove them all, but I hope we haven’t really the stomach for those.
In the meantime whilst excusing no mass deportation (which will be labour’s fault I guess) Frogface will be busy lining his pockets from the sell off of the NHS and his mates able to make much more cash on the back of no rights workers. Guess it will take a while to filter through to folk what’s happening though.
Praying it doesn’t come to this.

I think we’re all been playing whack a mole over the past few days Ms.Jinks. Last night was a nightmare!
i saw Pointythings & Blossomtoes plugging away earlier!

Without any backing from MNHQ though I don’t think we’re going to get anywhere!

OwlsR · 25/08/2025 22:06

Thank you all for trying to give facts - it is relentless

https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/farage-immigration-deportation-reform-law-b2813624.html

Courts would block Farage’s ‘mass deportation’ plan using common law, says former attorney general

Exclusive: Dominic Grieve has issued a scathing critique of Reform’s immigration plans ahead of a speech by the party’s leader

Quite!
I've argued this repeatedly & we can't deport to a country which says NO, just as we wouldn't accept back Shamina Begum.

Unfortunately, many people don't seem to realise this, they see Trump and want us to do similar.

Huge problem for Labour.

Piggywaspushed · 26/08/2025 09:17

I do think about the lovely lad on the Flintoff show - now plays cricket for Lancashire and is an entirely productive member of British society- and wonder what these 'deport them all' types would do with him.

placemats · 26/08/2025 09:21

Today Radio 4, this morning had a discussion with Reform person called Lee something. It's on the topic of mass deportation. Starts from 8.10am. Well worth a listen. My personal conclusion was fluff and nonsense, unsurprisingly.

Notonthestairs · 26/08/2025 09:30

The thing is Farage and friends dont respect UK laws or the justice system.

What they want is political appointments as judges as per the US.

A legal system for the use of and at the mercy of politicians - not voters.

So that article will be music to their ears.

But that would take far longer to achieve than a single political term and Farage’s supporters would be expecting instant results. It would take years to wade through all this:

This policy would require leaving the Refugee Convention, change your national domestic laws, which reflect the operation of the Refugee Convention, pull out of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR) and give the government through primary legislation essentially full powers to remove aliens who are regarded as being undesirable from the United Kingdom,” he noted.

Notonthestairs · 26/08/2025 09:40

All the better to set up the fight for a second term.

Look! Look! The whole Establishment is against us! Blah blah. Truss style.

Notonthestairs · 26/08/2025 09:41

The point is not to bring about change, it is about setting up a long form fight to retain power.

If more asylum seekers cross the channel, that works just fine.

You think Reform voters are sufficiently patient? They’re the ones complaining bitterly that the current government hasn’t turned the country to the land of milk and honey inside a year. If immigration didn’t fall dramatically almost immediately they’d turn on Farage in a heartbeat - and I suspect he knows that.

Piggywaspushed · 26/08/2025 09:55

Your average Farage fan wants zero immigration of any kind and favours mass deportation. This is a beginning. Overton Window stuff.

Will any journalist mention the impact of Brexit on the boat crossings or ask about the GFA?

I disagree. I think he’ll slash taxes (which is all the media owners etc are really interested in) and invoke austerity which gets a lot of people very excited. Fuck with the BBC’s charter. Etc.

And then he’ll complain about France/the EU/von de Leyden blocking his progress.

Having an enemy to pin blame on (judges, lawyers, the establishment, podcasts, tofu eaters, whoever) is what counts.

BIossomtoes · 26/08/2025 10:08

That would be an incredibly high risk strategy. Obviously he could try to blame the inevitable deterioration of public services on immigrants but that wouldn’t wash if the numbers remained the same.

DuncinToffee · 26/08/2025 10:11

He can't mass deport people. If it was that simple the Tories would have done it.

I have faith in the British people to see through his lies.

Like Brexit gave us unicorns shitting gold on sunny uplands ?

Farage supports are thicker than pigshit. They want to be fooled, That's what makes them so dangerous. In days gone by they would be burning witches. And I can easily see a future where they start up again. We're already there in some respects.
