I’m clearly extremely naive, politically, but surely at this point, there should be enough recognition of, and disgust with, Trump’s narcissistic delusions of grandeur and his self-serving behaviour at the cost of the country, for a formidable political/legal opposition to have gathered from all sides, to put together a peaceful coup which puts him in prison for treason and bringing the Constitution into disrepute? At which point he would have no power, though the spite and vindictiveness would remain.
Would that there were more like the the Congresswoman in Texas who resisted being bullied by the GOP, or the people at Vanity Fair who refuse to normalize a despot, or the Trump-appointed judge in Maryland who threw out "an unusual lawsuit the Trump administration filed against every federal judge in Maryland over an order slowing down efforts to swiftly deport people it believes are in the country illegally.” https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/trump-appointed-judge-rebukes-doj-calamitous-lawsuit-against-maryland-judges-2025-08-26/
Surely these are not lone figures in the wilderness?
Oh, yes, and why is the Minneapolis school shooting yesterday almost out of the headlines already, and the main takeway from it not being about the need for gun control, but blaming the shooter for being trans?
