Desperately seeking that Peace Prize.
May have to settle for the Hero of the Russian Federation award. Bigly sad.

Serpentstooth
Quisling family runs Quisling administration shock.

I don't think I understand this. Vidkun Quisling was a Norwegian puppet-leader for the Nazis. Are we saying Trump is Putin's puppet so everyone in the US administration is as well?

logicisall · 25/08/2025 17:18

Top comment for me:

We don't want a dictator. We want a funeral.

And I see there's merch. Is he dead yet? T-shirt.

Please can we be extremely careful not to cross the line into anything that's actively calling for the pointless lump of lard's death? Or any violence at all?

I'd hate for these threads to end up for deletions for it – or worse, some sort of legal jeopardy.

Have we reached the stage where it's illegal to imagine someones passing ?

I'd never wish anybody dead. However there are a few obituaries I'd read with pleasure.

Are we allowed to reach for Dylan's Masters of War? And play the last three verses loudly?

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
That even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good?
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could?
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul

And I hope that you die
And your death will come soon
I'll follow your casket
By the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand over your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

I'm not a massive Dylan fan, but "It's alright Ma (I'm only bleeding)" is pure unadulterated genius.

(I first heard that sneaking into "Easy Rider" aged 16 at the Roxy in Wardour St. in the very early 80s).

Disillusioned words like bullets bark
As human gods aim for their mark
Make everything from toy guns that spark
To flesh-colored Christs that glow in the dark
It’s easy to see without looking too far
That not much is really sacred

While preachers preach of evil fates
Teachers teach that knowledge waits
Can lead to hundred-dollar plates
Goodness hides behind its gates
But even the president of the United States
Sometimes must have to stand naked

While I understand your concerns, it would be remiss not to acknowledge the growing expressions on SM that only Trump's demise will allow America to break free of his dark arts stranglehold on democracy and justice.

DuncinToffee · 25/08/2025 19:20

His right hand was very bruised.

Who remembers how Fidel Castro held out ?

logicisall · 25/08/2025 19:45

I remember Fidel Castro very well as I lived for a while in South America, in the 70's.

The Bay of Pigs ended in a negotiated settlement. JD Vance, 2025.
(I may have dreamt that one).

I sincerely hope its not a case of

"Always keep tight hold of nurse
For fear of finding something worse"

Spandauer · 25/08/2025 20:40

Trump: "Beverly Hills, I have friends, they leave their trunk open for their car bc they know they're going to be vandalized. They don't want trunk ripped off in order for them to steal what's in their bag. They leave doors open so when they go in to steal the radio, they don't rip off the door"

So Drumpf's friends are all driving 1980s Chevrolet Chevettes in 2025 without so much as a CD player between them are they?

Utter garbage - he doesn't even have any friends.

Meanwhile a large poster of Donald Trump is now hanging from the Department of Labor building in D.C.

North Korea by any other name...

Yes he isn't even original in his attempts at dictatorship

Serpentstooth · 25/08/2025 22:29

I don't know how Americans living there can stand it. My sanity teeters on the brink from the Trump outrages every day and I'm not involved, have no family there. Utter hellscape fast approaching. And the rest of the world bends its knee. What else can it do ?

I won't do it

I wish him to have the most painful case of piles imaginable. That'll do for now

Every time DH talks to his brothers in the US (probably 2-3 times a week) I ask him if they are outraged by whatever latest thing Trump is doing and the answer seems to be that they're 'concerned' (shades of Susan Collins there 🙄) but there's no wailing or gnashing of teeth... I can't understand it (and neither can DH) I'm in an almost permanent state of apoplexy... in case it wasn't obvious!
