I think I've found the cure to chin hairs..

Okay, maybe this is light-hearted. But then again, maybe not?
For the last few years I have suffered with chin hair. It haf been getting so much worse in the recent months. I would find if I left it a few days, I would have at least 6 of the beggars to get rid of.
However, recently I decided I wanted to lose some weight. So I've cut out all refund sugar, eating mainly a wholefoods diet, very minimal carbs and my main source of protein is tofu....and they've vanished?! Gone. Not one. I haven't had to pluck in well over a week. Is it a coincidence? Perhaps. Or have I unintentionally found a cure? Who knows. Call me Alexander Flemming...

Get a dermablade from Isoclean. So easy to use and then you can eat as much sugar as you want without worrying about chin hairs 😜

I wonder if you may have PCO? This causes excess hair growth and is often kept under control by limiting carbs and processed food.

Soitis83 · 12/08/2025 22:42

The cutting out sugar wasn't for my chin hairs, it was because I'm on the line of obese and desperately need to lose weight for my heart health. But I will bear that terrifying look tool in mind if they decide to make a comeback, thank you x

I find the opposite. When I eat healthy all the bastard hairs have a growth spurt.

Alcohol and nicotine is my cure for hair growth.

This sounds incredibly likely as I've cut out processed foods altogether. I was very recently tested for PCOS, all my bloods came back normal though.

Do you eat processed foods, refined sugar and high carbs though? If so...my theory still stands.

Not all hair growth is caused by PCOS obviously but it can be a cause. Obviously not in your case.

PractisingMyTelekenipsis · 12/08/2025 22:49

I eat minimal carbs, low sugar, tofu at least once per week. Still have a whole fucking beard. Bastard PCOS.

It would be more than just 6 hairs. I have a friend with this condition and I thought I had it but dont, my friend showed me her facial hair and it was a lot

Fernhurst · 12/08/2025 23:08

But plucking out my chin hairs using my light up magnifying mirror is the best part of my day!

Liliwen · 12/08/2025 23:25

I once plucked out all my dark chin hairs and I had about 150 of them. I shave them every day. It’s horrible. I’ve bought a Phillips lumea which I’m hoping works. Plucking was not a good plan because I got really spotty from doing that as it really irritated my skin.

I do eat a lot of sugar though. And I don’t have PCOS. I have no other symptoms of it. So I don’t know what’s caused the bastards to sprout

BlackRoseRed · 12/08/2025 23:29

Cutting out refined sugar and losing weight did not help my chin hairs as I had hoped it would. But Philip’s Lumea worked wonders and vanished them completely. I wish I bought one sooner!

justasking111 · 12/08/2025 23:32

I do have PCOS thought it would improve with menopause but I'm still hairy. Low carb diet is the only one that works for me. Haven't noticed a hair reduction but haven't been looking. I do have more energy. I think it's insulin resistant issue with PCOS

YellowZebraStripes · 12/08/2025 23:36

Its the carbs. When I eat more carbs my hair grows.

Its a more energy intensive but not essential bodily process so doesn't get prioritised when there's less carbs.

Oh this is good to hear. I hope it works for me too. How often did you use it?

Dabberlocks · 12/08/2025 23:42

I seem to remember reading something somwhere about tofu, and that it can affect oestrogen levels.

DiscoNights · 12/08/2025 23:56

HRT has sorted my chin hairs. Mine appeared with perimenopause.

MavisandHetty · 13/08/2025 00:01

I imagine the sugar -> insulin -> other-hormones-produced chain might be what’s going on with you.

LostInClothes · 13/08/2025 00:27

Plasticwaste · 13/08/2025 04:33

Everyone has chin hair and facial hair.

Don't get rid of it. Let it grow out and plait it.
