I think I've found the cure to chin hairs..

Okay, maybe this is light-hearted. But then again, maybe not?
For the last few years I have suffered with chin hair. It haf been getting so much worse in the recent months. I would find if I left it a few days, I would have at least 6 of the beggars to get rid of.
However, recently I decided I wanted to lose some weight. So I've cut out all refund sugar, eating mainly a wholefoods diet, very minimal carbs and my main source of protein is tofu....and they've vanished?! Gone. Not one. I haven't had to pluck in well over a week. Is it a coincidence? Perhaps. Or have I unintentionally found a cure? Who knows. Call me Alexander Flemming...

OP, even if your blood tests came back normal I would insist on an ultrasound to check your ovaries anyway. My bloods came back normal, but my ultrasound showed very obvious PCOS (many cysts).

I use a safety razor to shave my neck/chin each day in the shower. It's not elegant but very effective and doesn't cause shaving rash.

I suspect that this post is by the Tofu Marketing Board in a vain attempt to try and get rid of the unpleasant stuff...

I find the opposite. When I eat healthy all the bastard hairs have a growth spurt.

Alcohol and nicotine is my cure for hair growth.

What a satisfying remedy 🤣

The unpleasant stuff being meat?

But plucking out my chin hairs using my light up magnifying mirror is the best part of my day!

Is that every day? They do like to creep up on people in the night.

Cutting out refined sugar and losing weight did not help my chin hairs as I had hoped it would. But Philip’s Lumea worked wonders and vanished them completely. I wish I bought one sooner!

@ £268.00! Why so expensive?

Ellopal · 13/08/2025 06:41

When I had chemotherapy I lost every hair on my body except for my one bastard chin hair. Talk about kicking a girl when she’s down 😭

PrioritisePleasure24 · 13/08/2025 06:50

I’m peri menopausal and it’s known to sprout chin hairs as you age. I don’t think it’s diet related. I eat a reasonably good one and still grow a few. However i’ve noticed that the glycolic acid pads i use on my face seem to help them disappear!

YelloDaisy · 13/08/2025 06:56

According to AI Google hormone levels are influenced by diet

There id a link to body fat and hormone balance. Can't remember it but may explain this - I found this too after weight loss.

NegroniMacaroni · 13/08/2025 07:02

I quite like my chin hairs. Gives me something to stroke when deep in thought.

Notsurewheretostarthere · 13/08/2025 07:28

I pluck mine with a torch under my chin before I put my contact lenses in, for better focus!

Mine are horrific. Started in late 30s, meno made them grow and then I added testosterone and now I have a full neck beard! Plus hairy legs again!

I use a micrroblade if I'm in a rush and no time to pluck.

Hendion · 13/08/2025 07:28

Can I ask what you eat in a day OP? I have pcos and need to go low sugar and low carb, but I’m vegan so struggling to know what to eat. It sounds like you’ve been managing it with tofu? Please can you give me your sample daily diet?

Plus squeezing spots but don’t have anymore due to age 🙄

OP chin hair is hormonal, wouldn’t necessarily show in blood work (depending on what that was). Sugar is awful for hormones

How interesting, OP.

It would be more than just 6 hairs. I have a friend with this condition and I thought I had it but dont, my friend showed me her facial hair and it was a lot

Not necessarily. I have PCOS and I get two hairs, same place every time and only two.

Nomoretopswithblacktrousers · 13/08/2025 07:48

Soitis83 · 12/08/2025 22:47

Do you eat processed foods, refined sugar and high carbs though? If so...my theory still stands.

Your hypothesis has failed. Like a pp the better I eat the faster those fuckers grow.

Side note healthy for me includes balanced amount of carbs because carbs = fuel

Sorry that link did not work. Try looking up the title in archive ph.

I've lost 2 stone in the last 6 months, massively reduced my sugar intake and that's exactly what's happened to me too.

My GP said better insulin control reduces androgen levels and can help keep hairy chins under control.

CountryShepherd · 13/08/2025 07:55

But I don't eat tofu!

Sure, I'm also vegan.
I eat oats with flax and chia, sprinkled with sweet freedom vegan honey for breakfast. One piece of wholemeal bread with one mashed avocado spread on top with garlic granules, salt and pepper, 4 cut cherry tomatoes with no sugar hot sauce (tangy, not spicy), 2 salt and vinegar rice cakes and an oat cake with sweet freedom chocolate spread (almost no calories and no refund sugar). Then wholemeal rice, vegetables and fried tofu with soy sauce over it. For snacks I have bananas and roasted chickpeas seasoned to your liking. I literally eat that every single day. I've taken the pleasure out of food and just use it as my source for fuel and nothing else. Somehow, this is the only thing that's worked for me.
