Come on, Labour! How hard can it be to do better than individuals from other parties with their snouts in the trough? 🤦‍♀️

You’d think, wouldn’t you? I’m disappointed beyond measure, I had such high hopes.

Alexandra2001 · 07/08/2025 11:10

I see Chris Philp is doing the news rounds, unchallenged, stating that Labours 1 in 1 out policy wont work, as only 6% might be returned.....

His Rwanda plan was less than 1%... 300 in year 1, 5000 over 10 years.... yet that was his deterrent....

How so called journalists don't point this out is beyond me.

Not to mention the cost of that 'deterrent'

I can’t be bothered to do the maths but £750 million to remove 1500 people doesn’t strike me as particularly good value for money.

Which of these gets mostly ignored?

It's been known for a while now that the limit to Reforms growth is Nigel Farage. For some reason or another he's been unable to pull off Trumps charisma appeal to a large base.

DuncinToffee · 07/08/2025 11:54

This could be a MN post

This email I received after I was on Newsnight pointing out how extreme and misinformed people are about immigration is quite something. To move from ‘I’m a pacifist’ to ‘let’s be at war with France’ in just a few lines is impressive.

(I will also nick the word 'illiterati')

I bet they're my age and so won't be deployed for war, more Dad's Army. Who does this person think they're kidding?

Notonthestairs · 07/08/2025 12:32

I'm sure the army would welcome them.

Saucery · 07/08/2025 12:33

Terry Fuckwit, there’s a blast from the past! Grin He always seemed a bit too exaggerated, but looking around social media today, I’m not too sure he was….

Along with all those reluctant and disengaged 16-18 yr olds some people keep trying to push their way.

Oh please post that at every opportunity. It’s a real (and very welcome) eye opener.

Private Eye is covering this as well, This so-called “research organisation” has been cited in The Sun, The Telegraph, The Times and Express

The Centre for Migration Control?

A “Think Tank” ran seemingly by one guy called Robert Bates, a Senior Reform Campaigner in the Channel 4 Documentary released last year ‘Undercover inside Reform’s campaign’.

His data is wrong and purposely misleading.

I've seen his work cited on MN too.

I've seen Sunak's compulsory national service scheme lovingly referred to on here over the last couple of weeks.

PandoraSocks · 07/08/2025 12:46

I hear Badenoch has been boasting about how she got one of her fellow pupils expelled for cheating in an exam.

She's really scraping the bottom of the achievements barrel now.

Surely he's referring to disinformation? Manipulation of data (lying) to fit an agenda.

Why isnt this being more widely discussed?

Willowkins · 07/08/2025 13:05

My initial thought is I can't take these people seriously, especially if they're going to make stuff up. But come on journalists, is it that you're not very good at your job or are you just lazy? Clearly Reform have an agenda but we shouldn't have to rely on a couple of people in their kitchens to report the truth on social media.

There was a piece in the Guardian yesterday about this guy and his 'thinktank' after Jenrick uncritically quoted his 'statistics'

I think career politicians are just a bit odd really. Remember Teresa May running through wheat fields and Keir constantly referring to himself as the son of a toolmaker.

Not sure Starmer qualifies as a career politician given his previous jobs.

But maybe career politicians are a little different generally.

How is KS a career politician?
