Ex-priest found guilty of 17 indecent assaults https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c20662dxl88o

I’m sure angry young white patriots will be assembling around churches right…now!

@PandoraSocks- I just hold on to the hope that, as seen on the streets last year at least, ‘there are more of us than there are of you’.
Hate speech online is easy, smashing and grabbing at Poundland in the sun is fun - when it comes right down to it though will these haters get off their arses and do much? Show themselves for the horrible thinking humans they are?
I don’t agree with the immigration rhetoric, and think ‘concerns’ are at the best ‘misinformed’ but there’s a place to deal with these issues in an adult manner if that is your pov - but hating and hurting other people is abhorrent and ruins all society and humanity.
I’ve no idea where they can place people, and I strongly suspect none of those shouting loudly have any real idea either.
It’s probably heightened because the country is on a mess, people feel lack of cash and home safety and then turn it on others - that’s the kindest interpretation I can find - maybe we are mainly just the worst kind of animals and are looking to hunt and kill - not letting them off though from the disgusting and ignorant behaviours whatever the reason.

Philps wants the Government to reinstall the Rwanda agreement.

Did they not notice what happened when Israel tried that policy?

Did they not notice what happened when Israel tried that policy?

Or that it was ruled illegal

Ffs, I’ve actually got someone arguing there was never austerity now.

I know. Because the unadjusted government spending figures show a minimal increase year on year from 2010 to 2020 apparently it didn’t happen and public services weren’t cut to the bone. 🤯

placemats · 20/08/2025 19:39

Well tell that to the mother's who suffered birth trauma and the parents who lost babies or had them severely injured during those years because of lack of funding to maternity and NICU. Yet Stephen Barclay found millions to fund the Thirlwall inquiry at a cost of £13 Million.

Also from the Cameron-Osborne era

Highly critical report finds that instead of promised annual saving of £100m, fees have rocketed amid financial crisis

Austerity was the biggest error this country has ever done, worse than Brexit, run down all services and the costs to put right are now unaffordable.

eg Save 1bn on road mcte, cost to make good - 11billion and rising.

Agreed.
Austerity contributed to Brexit and beyond.

BIossomtoes · 20/08/2025 20:12

Never happened. It was a mass hallucination apparently. 🤷‍♀️

Notonthestairs · 20/08/2025 20:14

Bloomberg imagined it 😁

I shared this on the Reform councils thread

Just a group of Reform councillors posing for photos with a man draped in a flag bearing a neo-Nazi symbol

A post on bsky explained the hand symbol

Making the Kühnen salute, with thumb, index and middle finger extended to form a “W”—as five protestors accompanying the Reform councillors are doing in the photo—is a criminal offence in Germany. The salute was popularised by the German Neo-Nazi Michael Kühnen.

On another thread a poster has been singing the praises of Yaxley-Lennon. Luckily the post contained a personal attack so MNHQ deleted.

Evenstar · 20/08/2025 20:38

Sorry that should have read CAN’T believe, as I struggle to understand anyone believing that councils are handing out discounts on beach huts etc

Evenstar · 20/08/2025 20:40

@DuncinToffee I think it is probably time we looked at similar legislation here

Reminiscent of the locals making the KKK symbol with their fingers in belts in "Mississippi Burning" ...

PCC do offer their leisure card which allows 50% off some services to asylum seekers if they have documentation.
They also offer it to foster carers, disabled people and many more.

Can’t get upset about people being given a chance to access the community 🤷‍♀️

They're not the far right, of course. Suggesting that would be a silly mistake to make.
