Rees Mogg also posted against the two tier rhetoric.

Fair play to him. At least he understands the difference between a guilty plea and a jury trial.

PandoraSocks · 16/08/2025 10:50

Yeah, I have a grudging respect for JRM for posting that.

Yeah, I have a grudging respect for JRM for posting that.

He also said a second referendum was a good idea.

E2A: If ever I have a "Are we the baddies ?" moment, I do check that I am able to give praise where it is due. If I detect a lack of that sentiment in others, then I do find it rather colours my opinion.

So do I. Unexpected and very welcome.

I didn't combust in flames when posting those Grieve and Ress Mogg comments

JRM isn't seeking office again, but even so, very welcome and unexpected.

I had to go lie down in a darkened room with a pretend faint after reading what JRM posted. Happily after the swift application of smelling salts, my senses recovered.

Well quite. But then you look at the company he keeps.

Things have reached a new low on the Facebook groups locally, there is someone trying to raise a mob to attack houses where they claim “illegals” are living. They have accused them of following women and taking pictures of children in the park.

Meanwhile after an horrific hit and run last year, where a pregnant woman lost her baby who had to be delivered prematurely, the local knuckle draggers are out in force trying to claim that the young Asian driver wasn’t British and that we probably paid for his driving lessons. No compassion at all for a bereaved family 😔 just the usual rants about Starmer etc

placemats · 16/08/2025 15:47

Two tier justice means we yobs get to control the outcome of our violent and racist rants. Anyone who disagrees can get in the bin. Obviously I don't think like that for the purposes of clarification.

Round are way there has been a spate of St. Georges flags hoisted halfway up s series of lampposts. And whilst I applaud the choice of a flag it's harder to hang wrong, I think the impact was rather blunted by the mealy mouthed excuse for the half mastedness as "too high up". The irony of shouty "patriotic" types only being prepared to put in the minimum effort wasn't lost on some.

Anyway, in a separate post, someone posted a picture of an overgrown pavement and a rather sharp-toungued poster suggested that if people have got the time to put flags up lampposts unasked, then maybe they could see their way top a spot of community work.

They didn't like that.

If it’s the same page as I’m seeing @Evenstar I think those posts have been taken down now. Unless my FB is glitching (possible). ‘Local FB Group Better Moderation For Hate Speech Than International Parenting Site’ shock Grin
I’m sick of seeing the faces of those two scumbags who drove into the woman, but I’m pretty sure they were British scumbags, unfortunately. Not that you can tell the thickoes that.

Evenstar · 16/08/2025 16:36

Glad to hear that @Saucery and to be fair there were people calling them out for their disgusting behaviour which is encouraging

Argghh, no, it’s just popped up again on my feed, FB glitching earlier. You’re right though, there are plenty of people calling them out on it. The local MP is stirring it with his stupid ‘survey’ too, wanker.

placemats · 16/08/2025 16:44

There's a gay couple that live close to me and we follow each other and have a special interest in gardening and local wildlife.

They got a note through the post box to say cut back your hedge - and has made it public on farce.

Saucery · 16/08/2025 17:22

Gotta love FB Grin. Apart from the occasional pivot over to hate speech, of course.

I just can’t explain it. I think it’s something to do with Ursula von der L. She’s not authentic.
