How does this make Brits feel about Prince Harry?

kmo0416 · 03/08/2025 04:18

Does it melt the hearts of the British when they recall Prince Harry's 'Mummy' letter at Diana's funeral?
Does this make them think twice about treating him and Meghan without more sympathy?

I think you can simultaneously feel sorry for any 13 year old who has lost their mum, and contempt for a 40 something man who is selfish and entitled.

Very well put.

Mylovelygreendress · 03/08/2025 10:49

Can we remember that William is only 2 years older and has somehow managed not to be an entitled brat ?

Ukisgaslit · 03/08/2025 10:50

Nonsense William is the very definition of entitled

Come on how could you possibly know that? Is it because of what you have seen in the media perchance or do you know him personally.

Harry and Meghan were all over the press etc then suddenly it was Kate and William. Does noone else find that odd?

I think they were hounded out so they went. I'd like to think fatger and son can mend their relationship before Cgarles dies, but they live under an antiquated royal picture so who knows?
William and Harry's rift will likely never mend. It's sad but they won't be the first family to part ways will they.

I personally like Harry. I don't know much about Meghan but her charity work prior to meeting Harry suggests she's sound. I hope their relationship can withstand everything that is thrown at them.

They weren’t hounded out ! The late Queen said no to their half in/ half out request ( collaborate with her 🤦‍♀️) so they flounced off !
If rumours are true, Harry is desperate to get back into the fold.

Ukisgaslit · 03/08/2025 10:55

William is doing next to nothing while simultaneously ripping off the tax payer ( look up the Duchy scandal re William charging charities, the hypocrite)
William is an empty suit of a man propped up by obsequious PR , a PR which only fools the stupid
We were fed a line that Charles would ‘slim down’ the monarchy . They didn’t don’t ’slim down’their take from the tax payer though did they ? They are taking in more than ever
Now the next line is William will ‘modernise’
Laughable
William is a lazy man , devoid of empathy.

Aye all cut from the same cloth, which includes Harry.

UpDo · 03/08/2025 11:08

I think there must be a significant slice of the British public who don't think well of either William or Harry.

Ukisgaslit · 03/08/2025 11:11

I don’t doubt it

We could simply be asked
They did it in Sweden over 100 years ago
But no such democracy in feudal Britain

the80sweregreat · 03/08/2025 11:13

I always thought at the time that the two Princes shouldn’t have been allowed to walk behind their mum’s funeral cortège and only the more senior adult ones. I very much doubt that it would happen today, but obviously someone thought it was a good idea.
On top of everything else, Harry has never really moved on from what happened. I know it’s the same for anyone losing a parent so young, but their loss became a very public one and can’t have been easy despite the money and their unique privileges.
I do feel they were used.
I don’t have a great deal of sympathy for him now, but his upbringing has certainly shaped him and not in a good way. They are all pretty much messed up I think.

Which has been imposed on him, not something he has sought out through choice.

Ukisgaslit · 03/08/2025 11:17

The children were used as human shields during Diana’s funeral
Charles was reviled and because he had to walk ,as we all do , behind the coffin there was the fear that he’d be heckled or worse

BitOutOfPractice · 03/08/2025 11:17

What an odd op. “The British”? We are not one homogeneous hive mind. Are you British op?

This British person has no feelings one way of the other about Harry. I also don’t remember that letter. Make of that what you will, utter indifference.

That’s true
And is another argument for ridding ourselves of the Windsors.

Let them stand for election if they which to ‘serve’ the public

TizerorFizz · 03/08/2025 11:20

What has Diana’s funeral got to do with Meghan and her subsequent actions with Harry? Very odd.

ninjahamster · 03/08/2025 11:23

I have a lot of time for H and M.

I think he was fundamentally traumatised as a child and the adults around him at the time need to bear responsibility for it.

Your posts drip with hatred. You have absolutely no idea what William is like. You appear more than a little deranged.

anyolddinosaur · 03/08/2025 11:28

There is a Royal Family area of mumsnet for people who care.

Harry stuck the knife into his family and twisted it, repeatedly. Meghan encouraged it. When his name is brought up that is what many people think about.

LadyCankleOfGrantham · 03/08/2025 11:31

Hang on - OP are you saying that if someone loses a parent in their childhood it gives them carte Blanche to behave like a total bellend 30 years later and nobody can say anything?

No. I don’t subscribe to that belief.

How come Sussex Squad types behave like William also didn’t lose a parent?

the irony is OP that the sad little boy who wrote the mummy letter is basically the reason Harry got away with some truly despicable behaviour in his teenage years and early adulthood. It bought him time to be a racist cunt. But his behaviour of recent years isn’t as cute as it once was.

Hes a narcissist prick who’s found a wife equally as narcissistic. His conduct around his latest “poor me I’m so special” civil trial about this security tells me everything I need to know about what a nasty vindictive clown the man is. If I had it my way not a penny of taxpayer money would be spent on his security

The truth hurts doesn’t it ?

If William had empathy he would be actively trying to improve life in the UK.
In reality he’s worse than Charles

Didntask · 03/08/2025 11:34

Nope.

What do you mean by improve life in the UK? Are you not aware of William/ charity work?

There's very little 'truth' in any of your ranting.

Ukisgaslit · 03/08/2025 11:39

@LadyCankleOfGrantham

Oh yes I’m well aware of William’s PR / charity

William spends more on his image boosting ‘awards’ than is given out as prizes

Really you are flogging a dead horse trying to argue that William does anything close to ‘work’
He has even told us he will be a zoom king , on endless holidays while still taking more from the tax payer year on year

What are you talking about i genuinely don't know what you mean ? I think Prince william is patron and takes interest in charities but in reality that is all he can do, also have you not heard of the kings trust ? Where it actively improves the lives of other people.
