A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. Labour isn't working!

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

‘Serious problems’ with UK’s reliance on migration, warns OBR official

Wonder if David Miles at the OBR will get tarred with the bigot stick for having eyes in his head.

Looks like Reform is still getting Starmer to jump with request for transparency re police.

Ha, of course. As twisty said, Corbyn to the left of him, Farage to the right. Starmer just blowing in the wind, zero leadership, with an occasional pitiful attempt to react to events.

I am enjoying not seeing Starmer's face every time I go online or watch the news. Its bliss.
Is he even still in power? Those who advocated for him never seem to mention him these days.

Haha so much the same. So glad I don’t have to hear or see him. And I generally avoid!

The radio news just said something about first Labour MP using AI version of self. Fgs that’s the last thing we need, duplication 😂

That would explain Starmer's glitching and buffering. I think you've cracked it 🤣🤣

Haha quite! 😬

Just reading a good for business poll which put Labour lowest of all parties. So much for RR statement which is kind of funny now.

Political parties have long battled to present themselves as a pro-business party, with Labour’s Chancellor Rachel Reeves wooing company bosses and City firms in the lead-up to last year’s elections, promising to be “the most pro-business government” the country has ever had.

But the latest City AM/Freshwater Strategy poll of UK voters shows that Reform UK is deemed to be the party most likely to support UK businesses’ needs.
On a scale of zero to 10, Reform was rated at an average of 4.8 while Labour came in lower than all other parties at 3.8.

TheNuthatch · 05/08/2025 20:37

That's quite an achievement for Reform in such a short time.
Also quite an achievement for Labour to lose so much good will in just a year. Even I was looking forward to labour's much lauded growth strategy. It turns out there wasn't one. Just more tax etc. They won't be forgiven easily for what they've done.

I have to admit, Reform's zero corporation tax and 150K vat threshold is very tempting 😁

I’ve just been reading how Rayner is giving local councils the right to sell off allotments. Really? This is the best she has for helping local councils make money???

The longer this government goes on the more incredulous I am made to feel. It’s like they have no idea what really matters to people.

I have not got an allotment but they are so popular, and so needed.

This government really has no clue, does it?

Still warm here but cooler at night. I haven’t watched that but need a new thing to watch.

TheNuthatch · 06/08/2025 07:35

@Wishihadanalgorithm Yes totally agree. I didn't know about this until I read your post, so thank you. It made me really angry. Glad to see Corbyn on this. He's right. I ended up down a rabbit hole reading about how allotments came to be. Quoting Corbyn 'the fight for the grass roots is on'.

We have an allotment so of course Labour want to get rid of it. I think thry want people like me to not even exist! That's certainly how it feels at the moment anyway.

TheNuthatch · 06/08/2025 07:48

@EasternStandard

Other papers are saying its £50bn, Guardian have worded it as 'more than £40bn', like that's better 🙄. Labour can't fill that size hole by just tinkering or wealth taxes. No doubt they'll blame global headwinds etc with no recognition of the effects of the last budget on business.
How many more black holes created by these incompetent fools will we be expected to pay for?

BofE is expected to cut interest rates tomorrow because the jobs market is so poor. Andrew Bailey has been clear of the reasons, but I'm sure Labour will celebrate anyway.

Services sector suffering too.
