Labour isn't working - Thread 5

TheNuthatch · 29/07/2025 14:33

A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. Labour isn't working!

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Oof! Scathing report for Labour from Cllr Lewis. The party with no name will soon be winning council by elections me thinks. Good.

C'mon Jezza, pick a bloody name already 😂

Mnhq might be on weekend duty it’s the recent US Coinbase advert, pretty much sums up a lot of the criticism of Labour - bin strikes and high prices

EasternStandard · 02/08/2025 19:13

Idk what the word is! It’s an advert from US on telegraph app. Quite funny

EasternStandard · 02/08/2025 19:16

TheNuthatch · 02/08/2025 21:09

@EasternStandard It was worth the effort, thank you. That made me laugh 😂

On a thread a few days ago, I was accused of exaggerating when I described England as a tinderbox. The poster lived in Wales, so perhaps not the same there. I have personally seen a protest outside a migrants hotel, and a March this week alone. I came across both events accidentally before the haters assume anything.
MSM don't seem to be reporting much, perhaps they don't want to be accused of stoking the fire.

Sorry this is from the express, but it shows a snapshot of what was happening in various locations yesterday. I stand by my description of a tinderbox, even if it hasn't reached all areas yet.

Nine arrests in London as counter-protesters breach police conditions

Tensions over migrant hotels have boiled over as demonstrators on both sides of the issue gathered at buildings housing asylum seekers in major UK cities.

That Everything is Fine advert is as funny as it is depressing. It really captures the level of denial on MN!

Parsley4321 · 03/08/2025 08:57

@TheNuthatch yes it’s a tinderbox I saw a friend yesterday a more laid back chap you cdnt imagine. He was telling me how things are getting in Bristol - not great. He thinks there’s going to be a bomb at one of these marches and then all bets are off. I am seeing more migrants in our most boring area they have been given social housing on a new estate they are fully covered I am pissed off. My friend - one down from royalty is looking to jump ship and follow her friends out of this dire situation. I have watched a few Sadiq Khan interviews this week this is our London mayor WTF 🤬 he can’t answer one question

TheNuthatch · 03/08/2025 09:12

I do worry about it escalating even further.

Wow so much going on rn. Starmer seems oblivious.

Apart from trying to suppress SM of course.

Boohoo76 · 03/08/2025 09:29

I have seen a protest advertised locally relating to a nearby migrant facility. I’m about 30 mins away from Epping and this is a completely different facility to the Epping hotel where there have been protests for the last few weeks. Feels like I am going to be surrounded by protests/violence and we live in a quiet rural area.

I went into our nearest small town yesterday and some elderly guy in the Co-op was moaning about “foreigners” to another elderly couple. It’s so depressing. I work for a “foreign” company, lots of my colleagues are “foreign”. I hazard a guess that they have contributed far more to the country than this bloke has done in is entire life but they are bad because they are “foreign”. Racism and xenophobia seem to be escalating at an incredible rate of knots.

Perhaps it's a good thing that Starmer is keeping his nose out? He certainly didn't help matters last summer. There's a lot of ostrich syndrome going on imo.

Yes to your SM comment, but I won't say more in case I get accused of supporting Jimmy Savile.

The loyalty is strong on here isn’t it. I shouldn’t bother with it it’s so removed from general feeling.

Parsley4321 · 03/08/2025 19:52

It’s not about foreigners it’s about the fact so many migrants are coming in we don’t know who they are and this is what’s fanning the flames of racism when you have uneducated undocumented men what do you think will happen

ThePhantomoftheEcobubbleOpera · 03/08/2025 20:05

Settled and established migrants have as much to lose as everybody else when uncontrolled migration puts pressure on service and housing. So, I agree, illegal migration is a worrying problem but so it letting 700,000 new people come into the country with little knowledge or plan of how to make that work.

It's a numbers problem, and criticism of it is batted away with accusations of xenophobia.

RazzleDazzleEm · 03/08/2025 20:42

How many facilities are.there housing these men ?
I know we have one near by someone who used to work there but decided to quit however there has been touch wood no issues so far .

I just find it mind boggling that we have this forced on us forcing our hand to pay when we have British mum's and children struggling in refuges and poor housing and all kinds of vulnerable people here desperately needing funds.

Parsley4321 · 03/08/2025 21:58

@RazzleDazzleEm its been done by stealth I would say.
I live in the most dull area of Gloucestershire not north Cotswolds but in the cheap seats 30 months ago my friends friend came to clip my horse I didn’t know her but after a few minutes chatting about this and that she said that the hotel opposite her had been rented to Serco for £5mill a year. At the time I couldn’t believe it - she said two year contract 1 mill refurb which is what’s happened.
My builder in Bristol has the maintenance for Hilton double tree - central Bristol 10 mill a year five years then full refit. Friend in Turkey on a retreat said two hotels including crown Plaza in Durham bought by government for migrants sane retreat woman from Torquay 3 hotels bought for migrants there. You speak to people all over UK it’s happening everywhere

Amazed at the deletion of the police thread. What’s going on?

It’s bad isn’t it when even talking about crime is deleted.

Parsley4321 · 04/08/2025 08:43

@EasternStandard which police thread please
I’m on Civil unrest what’s really going on that’s very informative but sobering

EasternStandard · 04/08/2025 08:46

The police should be open about these crimes is being looked in to.

Individual posts rarely deleted, if any, so not the actual content going against guidelines

🤬🤬🤬

I was on that thread last night. I'm sure you read my opinion on there. The only posts I found offensive were from the rape apologists.

The same happened to threads about the rape gangs. On a site predominantly aimed at, and used by, mothers? We should be able to discuss it. It just pushes people further towards X, Reform etc.

I wonder who reported it. That's a rhetorical question obv.
