Poshest children’s name’s you’ve heard?

My DS is due to start school in Sept and we recently met his soon to be classmates at an intro session. I have never heard so many stereotypically posh names in one group of people in my life! (The school is close to a very wealthy village…that we don’t live in sadly!) there was an Arabella, a Tarquin, a Jaygo, a Henrietta. So that’s what inspired this thread…what do you consider the top 5 poshest names you’ve ever heard of?

OP posts:

OP how would you feel if you saw a thread about "chav" names? Cos they are stereotypical "posh" names they are fair game? Pretty sure you wouldn't be happy if I said "let's hear the chaviest names at a school"?

Where has the op said anything negative about the names? Posh isn't always used as an insult like 'chav' is. Nobody would want to be labelled 'chav' plenty of people would be quite happy to be called 'posh'.

Cordelia, Arora, Taliesin, jemima and Nathaniel.

On MN posh is very often used as an insult.

EllasNonny · 14/07/2025 08:56

My joiner is called Tarquin.

I love this so much! 😍

Clearly I am posh as I know people with all these names bar chilli. (I do know a dog called Chilli does that count?)

I dont think there is such a thing as posh names anymore. Names have become so much more widely accepted you can find a lot of them on all sorts of environments.

Btw. I live in a standard teracced 3 bedroom not very posh

Actually "precious Tarquin and Arabella" is frequently used as an insult. It's just reverse snobbery and I'm simply pointing that out.

I see far more sneering at chaviness - perceived or otherwise - on here. Out of all the names listed on here so far, I think only Lettice might get destroyed on the baby names forum. Don't think you could say the same for Jayden or Ruby May.
If posh is used as an insult it's used with context.
Calling something posh isn't automatically an insult. In fact it's often used as a compliment.

There’s a fine line now between posh and chavvy. I don’t think Atlanta is posh.
