Trumplethinskin wants his Situation Room photo because it most definitely rained on his parade - Trump thread #145 | Mumsnet

And in today’s Very Important News. (I’ve added my favourite response, too.)
Edited to add: although, to be fair to the man, the NASDAQ is indeed doing well at the moment. Naively, I equate his stupidity with a slump in the markets, but that must actually be own lack of understanding.

JD might find some kindred spirits in The Cotswolds.

Much as I hate his politics if he was with family I don’t think it would be good. His children are 7, 4 and 2. Save it for the state visit when I’m sure the protests will be obvious however much they try to shield 🍊 by only travelling by plane etc.

It is a tricky one. On the one hand I agree with you.

However the counter to that is all the people - men, women and children and their families - being adversely affected by the deliberately unlawful policies that Vance is enabling don't get to go on nice holidays. Or even the Cotswolds 😀

DuncinToffee · 21/07/2025 10:22

Vance wasn't shy using his daughter as a political pawn when he came upon a pro Ukraine protest rally

Yes, politicians using their children as human shields - not really good.

It will doubtless have a long and proud history going back into antiquity.

All politicians try to present their families as paragons of virtue in order to justify why they are at the top whilst the plebs - with their vice addled lives and actions - deserve to stay plebs.

You could have a whole discussion about agency and consent. However (as noted) the counter is the plebs trampled underfoot by the elite have no agency and their consent isn't freely given ....

DontMowMyMeadow · 21/07/2025 11:43

I wouldn't worry about the Vance children being exposed to the Great British Public.
Doubtless the Vances will be helicoptered from one Cotswold estate to another. And I'm betting on them closing Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Winston Churchill, for his exclusive use.
A trip to Clarkson's farm shop at Diddly Squat Farm followed by a warm pint of frothing beer at The Farmers Dog while the wife does Burford Garden Centre, are probably not on the cards.

( am a Cotswold escapee)

MsJinks · 21/07/2025 12:08

Aren’t there enough places in the greatest, bigliest, bestest ever US of A for Vance to take his family on holiday there? Mickey Mouse isn’t in all of the states!
I guess kids deserve holidays, but doesn’t sound the best for them anyway.
Just pleased I don’t live in, nor will be visiting, any of the places during their holiday though.

Serpentstooth · 21/07/2025 12:11

I hope they take some country strolls, there are many cowpats awaiting them in the Cotswolds not to mention the piles of horse droppings. It's not all roses round the door and I sincerely wish them to have the full experience.

pointythings · 21/07/2025 13:49

I just wish them a great deal of Very British Weather.

LlttledrummergirI · 21/07/2025 14:31

I live in and may visit certain parts of the Cotswolds while they are here.

I may or may not take a bloody big placard with me saying fuck off.

JoshLymanSwagger · 21/07/2025 14:43

Hmm, USVP in mystery duck incident... it would make an impressive storyline for Midsomer Murders...🤐

Spandauer · 21/07/2025 18:42

As The Four Tops would say - It's the same old song.

NEW: Judge Darrin Gayles, who will preside over Trump's lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal may be having deja vu: He presided over Trump's ill-fated 2023 lawsuit against Michael Cohen.

Trump ultimately dropped that case to avoid being deposed.

And...
Trump was released on cashless bail 3 times in 2023. (Just saying)

People in Scotland are also questioning why taxpayers have to pay for Trump's security when he's visiting to his own golf courses.

I may or may not be sourcing a Trump & Epstein print on etsy, that fits perfectly on a pole.

LlttledrummergirI · 21/07/2025 20:30

I was about to say that. This is not an official visit, he should sort his own bloody security, and that should not be the police force- if Prince Harry can't pay to have them and he's a British citizen, then Trump shouldn't be able to either.

Freeloader, coming over to our country and treating it disrespectfully like a playroom can get to fuck.

That I can get behind and the children might actually enjoy it.

Then there will be all those secret service agents running around armed to the teeth.

LlttledrummergirI · 22/07/2025 10:07

No weapons in the UK. No special treatment for dicks.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 22/07/2025 10:48

Goodness me, Trump surely does hate anyone with more talent than he has himself.

That would be everyone, then....

pointythings · 22/07/2025 11:06

I saw something suggesting Stephen Colbert might team up with Rachel Maddow - wouldn't that be a delightful unintended consequence.

SerendipityJane · 22/07/2025 12:18

LlttledrummergirI · 22/07/2025 10:07

No weapons in the UK. No special treatment for dicks.

That's not true. American agents are armed. You will find the Home Office "does not comment on matters of diplomatic protection" (say it's a yes).

You can bet your life they won't allow the UK protection teams to have guns in the US.

Given that serving Americans have little regard for native British life, it seems a Bad Idea.

TRIP US did a special podcast yesterday purely on the Trump v Murdoch legal dispute. They are adamant that Trump will drop the case: he doesn't want to be deposed to give evidence that will be highly damaging - they can ask all sorts of questions that will be embarrassing and highly inconvenient without outright calling him an Epstein-apologist.

Also Murdoch has no fucks to give. He will be of the "bring it on" mindset over the lawsuit and can throw the full force of his media empire behind it. If Fox turns against Trump, MAGA is over.

There are also rumours of a Vance/Murdoch meeting, so perhaps a plot is afoot? That said, I genuinely don't know what is a worse prospect - 3.5 more years of the Orange One or a VP Vance Takeover.

Shit Burger or Shit Sandwich anyone?

@pointythings I watched this today

I'm taking the assumption that it's to be lumped in with this!
