Trumplethinskin wants his Situation Room photo because it most definitely rained on his parade - Trump thread #145 | Mumsnet

Tucked away in the 'One Big Beautiful Bill' is the requirement that all visitors to the US must pay $250 just to enter the country starting 1 October! For a family of 5 that's $1250! I doubt this will help America's crashing tourism business which is down 10% already since January

It’s not looking like it’s all visitors. Current visa waiver countries like the UK and Canada will be exempt.

So for the next election, as long as Trump actually hasn’t put himself in place as the Bigly Dictator and no voting at all takes place, the opposition to him is going to have to promise to take back almost everything he has done, which is the only way the country can then move forward, I would think? Or am I missing something?

Personally I think that is a trap the Trump crowd are trying to lure the Dems into. If they come out and say “we’re going to roll it all back” they will be painted as out of touch.

The Dems can’t run on the basis of “everything was fine before Trump”. They need to acknowledge that people had valid concerns about the way the Federal Government was being run, that there was wastage and unnecessary bureaucracy across departments. It was, in part, the tendency of the “left” (and I use the term very lightly in relation to most Dems!) to adopt a “we know best” attitude that lost them the election in the first place.

Who believes Bigly will enter a courtroom and get into being questioned under oath about Epstein (who? Never heard of him. Don't know him) and their lengthy relationship? No, me neither. Bigly v Murdoch. What a choice.

Luckily he has never heard of Oscar Wilde.

I can't see how the Dems (or anyone else) can promise to change things back to pre-Trump.

The current admin has embedded itself in all areas of US life and has (or is demanding) access to state voter records, Medicaid records, tax records etc., etc. US citizens are being edited, collated and tagged for political purposes. I suspect some Democrats will be happy to keep that information on file for themselves.

@CaveMum, @Spandauer. I take your points. I was thinking about Education, Health, and Immigration status, first and foremost. Could those departments be re-framed, if not rolled back, if you see what I mean?

I’ve nothing to add, it’s just MN won’t let me post an image without some text of my own.

@Jaichangecentfoisdenom i agree that those area will need a lot of work, but I guess my point is that the Dems will have to be careful to frame it, and demonstrate, as positive change rather than just undoing Trump’s work and going back to the way things were.

Sadly the health and education impacts will be felt for years to come. A quick Google tells me 3.5 million babies are born in the US each year. Thats 14 million over Trump’s term who could potentially have disrupted vaccination schedules and not to mention the tens of millions who will have incomplete/disrupted education. The children who could be most impacted, those aged around 7 and in their most formative years regarding learning to read and do maths, will not graduate college until around 2040 and perhaps only then will we see what impact this will have on their achievements.

😂

This is a pretty good sketch of the George Washington Bridge!

Think how different history would have been if Trump hadn’t been rejected by the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts.

I like the comment there saying: "Bondi and Trump are about to find out the wisdom made famous by Ol’ Poor Richard: three can keep a secret if two of them are dead."

It would be amusing if a load of Brits turned up and called him a cunt on the hour every hour to demonstrate how oppressed we are.

However, would anyone notice ?

Much as I hate his politics if he was with family I don’t think it would be good. His children are 7, 4 and 2. Save it for the state visit when I’m sure the protests will be obvious however much they try to shield 🍊 by only travelling by plane etc.

There's a big blowup of that image on someone's front porch near where I live in the SF Bay Area. It makes me laugh out loud every time I walk by.

Wowza. “Here’s what caught my attention: the files were stored on a shared drive that anyone in the division could access. Normally, access is only granted to those working on a project, but because of the hurried nature of the exercise, the usual permission restrictions were not in place. …”

… Additionally, the internal SharePoint site the bureau ended up using to distribute the files … did not have the usual restricted permissions. This left the files open to viewing by a much larger group of people than previously thought.”
