What did you eat today?

A few months ago there was a really fun series of threads where people listed what they’d eaten that day (and had a general chat).

I really enjoyed it but can’t find it anymore so I thought I’d start one.

It was really interesting and varied (it’s not a weight loss or judgy thread- unless the judgement is ‘that sounds delicious, what’s the recipe/where did you buy it?’). Everyone is welcome!

Today I’ve had:
Breakfast- Scrambled eggs, sautéed veg (tomatoes, red onion, spinach, mushrooms). And tea with milk.

Snack- Americano with milk

Lunch- Chicken salad (chicken breast, cucumber, tomato, lettuce, avocado, sesame dressing).
Followed by low fat Greek yoghurt with peanut butter, strawberries, nectarine and blueberries.

Dinner- Will be roasted salmon, homemade potato wedges, roasted courgette/tomato/onion/fennel.
Followed by a watermelon and lime ice lolly (I make my own so it’s just fruit).

I’ve just started weight watchers so it’s not the most exciting day (I’ve also tried to cut out UPFs as much as possible and use my points on high fat whole foods like avocado and nuts). I’m looking forward to living vicariously through other people’s treats!

It’s a 500 cal fasting day for me today so I’m having soup for lunch with 20g of sourdough and fir dinner, 2 poached eggs with sautéed mushrooms and spinach

FurForksSake · 15/09/2025 11:44

@jawsnsharkshow are you doing the steps? That’s a huge number!

FurForksSake · 15/09/2025 11:45

@Halfy, how much is 20g of sour dough? In slices? Will you make it in to some croutons as I’m sure that’s tiny. Obviously fits in to your plan and that’s great, I just can’t visualise it!

It’s the rounded end of the M&S San Francisco style loaf, I just mopped up the soup left in the bottom of the bowl with it.

Halfy · 15/09/2025 11:58

And yes it’s small. I don’t each much bread at all but just fancied a little bit today.

FurForksSake · 15/09/2025 12:10

Ah! That makes sense. I also don’t eat much bread either, I did have a crumpet and crackers yesterday which is a lot of carbs for me. Soup without bread though…

FurForksSake · 15/09/2025 13:09

Lunch was not cheese on toast, it was some seriously strong spreadable (not sure why I bought that) with a couple of ryvita things, a handful of raspberries and a disgusting white nectarine. I might ask for a refund from Ocado.

MrsSethGecko · 15/09/2025 13:47

@FurForksSake nothing worse than disappointing fruit!

Today: veg soup and bread for breakfast
Lunch- banana, peanut butter and oat smoothie
Dinner- something with chicken thighs and peppers. Chester cake. There might be custard involved.

FurForksSake · 15/09/2025 13:55

Soup for breakfast? I like it! What’s Chester cake?

Well, I wanted an ice cream and the nearest ice cream parlour is quite a walk away. No car as DH was away. So I thought 'I want an ice cream' and 'Ice cream is very calorific' and 'I don't have a car and the shop is miles away' and suddenly, what do you know, a plan came together. So I'm thinking the walk must have cancelled out the bubble waffle ice cream - right?

FurForksSake · 15/09/2025 14:25

If I could walk that far I would and be happy it negated it. But I’m not able to and probably too lazy anyway 😆

MrsSethGecko · 15/09/2025 14:49

@FurForksSake Chester cake is leftover cake crumbled up and mixed with treacle, raisins and mixed spice and then baked in pastry. (Traybake style.)
I freeze leftover bits of cake and when I've got enough I make it. Very nice it is too.

FurForksSake · 15/09/2025 14:50

That sounds delicious! I’ve never heard of it. Not sure I’ve ever had leftover cake…

Get a dog. Or, get a dog for your child who has nagged for years and swears faithfully that they will look after said dog ... and then doesn't. I walk miles everyday whether I want to or not. Only slightly bitter about it 😫

Oooh! DH had some of that when we were on holiday in Ireland a few summers back. Never heard of it before or since until your post. It is rather delicious!

MrsSethGecko · 15/09/2025 18:57

I got a fajita mix for my chicken and peppers, but couldn't be arsed standing and cooking it in a pan so I put it in a casserole dish and ovened it. Pretty good. I had a bag of microwave steam veg and some rice too.
