Sunak posted a picture of himself in the countryside to celebrate Yorkshire Day. Pretty inoffensive stuff.
some prick immediately posted something racist. I’m not going to repeat it. I’d like to think it was deleted but I doubt it.

ThatbloodyRoblox · 02/08/2025 11:35

There is an awful amount of racism about at present. I am so sad and angry that people are resorting to this. Any Middleton is not a very nice man ( imo)

DuncinToffee · 02/08/2025 11:25

Quite a few of her MP's have sort of joined Rupert Lowe's party who is openly encouraging that rhetoric

It's hard not to feel St. Kemi is giving in to the racists to grub for votes. I wonder how some of her demographic might take this announcement ?

The comment about sacrificing liberty for security and gaining neither springs to mind.

bombastix · 02/08/2025 11:50

Well it’s a difficult one isn’t it? The Conservative Party have effectively (even if they won’t admit it) decided that being British is a series of performative attitudes. Now they have to say their leader does not identify as Nigerian? Incoherent

That will never satisfy a racist.

I also found Labour’s “working class” civil service apprenticeship rather interesting. I think they should be doing more of that, frankly. If you structured some schemes regarding employment or incentivized businesses I think it would go down even better.

The interesting question is why the Conservatives think that there are a group of people who are racist who might vote for them. If you are driven to vote along racial lines I do not think they are the top choice at the moment. Who are they for?

Presumably those people from minority disadvantaged backgrounds who repeated can be persuaded to vote against their own interests.

Racists are getting more bold - and obviou.

Here is another follower to add, Ant Middleton. He wants to ban 1st. 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants from holding top tier government positions.

He wants to be the Reform candidate for mayor of London

I'd love to know how many generations he would need to go back in his own family tree to find the first 'foreigner'. 4 perhaps?

ThatbloodyRoblox · 02/08/2025 20:28

No Churchill then if Ant Middleton has his way. I dread to think what certain people may think of that.

Oh, God. The poor woman. That is really upsetting.

But also not really a surprise that thugs like this are involved.

ThatbloodyRoblox · 02/08/2025 20:55

That is just awful and Nigel Farage describes these awful people as a “few bad eggs” ☹️

PandoraSocks · 02/08/2025 21:03

I have spent far too much time on MN lately arguing the toss with Reform voters. It is so pointless. All the people who claim they are only voting Reform to get Labour out. I would respect them more if they were honest about why they support Farage and co.

It is really sad to see all the the hate spewed on the site . To borrow a phrase from the Reformites, I think Mumsnet has fallen.

ThatbloodyRoblox · 02/08/2025 21:11

@PandoraSocks I have seen the posts. My brain is exploding that people who are “voted Labour all my life and can’t stand Conservatives “ are happy to vote for a bunch of ex scary conservatives. I just don’t get it.

I get we are skint, I get we are poor, I get our young people are utterly f@@ked but I don’t get that one year in after 14 people are suddenly finding things harder.
If any group should be protesting it is our young people.

ThatbloodyRoblox · 02/08/2025 21:12

I meant to add I am really sorry you have had a tough time with some posters today.

Evenstar · 02/08/2025 21:17

@PandoraSocks it is sickening, I still believe that what we are seeing online is a co-ordinated attack, the views expressed are often ludicrous and local Facebook groups are flooded with messages blaming migrants in hotels for every ill that we are facing as a society. It is disinformation on a vast scale.

I agree. It is quite scary.

It feels coordinated in the same way as Brexit was.

Do you have a link? When you say Irish, Northern Irish? Is he linked to Protestant paramilitaries? More information is needed.
