Re: I sent a cross message onto the family group instead of directly to my husband . Deleted now, but l feel so ashamed and mortified … reached out to a couple of members to apologise but no response.. it may or may not blow over but please tell me your experience of sending messages to the wrong group so l don’t feel so alone in my stupidity …

Someone I know posted a video with a dildo shoved up her fanny. Was meant for someone she was messaging on Snapchat. Ended up on her story and she fell asleep.

she woke up and removed it at 11am the next day..

She kept it in a long time then lol 😂

That is the first time I have fully laughed out loud at mumsnet 😂. Just the thought of that second email… I’m dirty… 😂😂

The 2013 “penis beaker” thread had this effect on me. It struck such a chord that I still google it and read through it when I need a good laugh🤣🙈

Sorry to derail, but I'm still in the dark as to why it was removed. Does anyone know please?!

There’s a thread in Site Stuff.

Some posters found it offensive…❄️

I don't see why those complaining MNers weren't told that a laughing emoji was the very kindest response they could expect for their abject nonsense. I did misuse it only use it once, your honour, for some crazy stuff about about loving and honouring your vagina every day (or similar). Some of us don't get the time to blow our noses. In my defence the alternative would have been so much crueller and it wasn't even very on point. I don't know - ❄❄❄s are everywhere.

It was being regularly misused to mock posts that were about sensitive subjects and not intended for laughs.

I once seen an awful picture on the Facebook group "rate my plate".
I never reply on those but it really was disgusting looking. And anyone who knows the group will understand that much of the time people purposely post awful photos for the banter.

I cant remember the exact wording but I said something like "you must really hate your family to serve them something that looks like it's been shit out"

Only it wasn't Rate my plate. It was my local slimmingworld group page.I'd misread and posted that in reply to a members photo of her actual dinner.

I only realised once the leader inboxed me and said I'd really upset one of her members and she had to delete the post.

I never went back there again. Absolutely fucking mortified. 🙈

Ok so l wasn’t avoiding saying my balls up as it’s quite boring but it was a group chat where some members of the family were complaining that an elderly unwell relative wasn’t answering the phone to them and my message ( l thought to my husband ) was “ why are they expecting her to pick up the phone to them . …she’s not out on shenanigans, she’s in a hospital bed probably sleeping .. maybe visit her ? ” I sort of stick by what l said but l need to learn that not everyone needs to hear my opinion … even though they did !

Good for you!

DH is in a group chat for a kids sport and one of the mums accidentally sent a photo of her in a very compromising position. She then deleted it only for herself so every had to see it but no one could remove it!

Oh god!

Crinkleybottomburger · 28/06/2025 04:57

I have 2 x DSIL, one is an absolute PIA, always the victim, loud, drunk, opinionated. The other is the total opposite. PIA asked on our family group chat what was the plan for Xmas. Having had PIA to stay the previous year I posted on the family chat, instead of to other SIL something along the lines of ‘it’s your turn this year, I did my duty last year & I’m busy for the next 10 years’. I deleted the message & PIA never saw it as it was 9.30am and she never gets up before lunchtime.

When and why was it removed? I'm brand new here; this is my first post, and one of only a handful (or less) of threads I've ever read! I'm also from... somewhere in North America. But please don't hold that against me! 😅

Anyway, just curious about the missing reaction...

It just disappeared one day recently.
Not sure why.
Lots of speculation about inappropriate use of laughter on sad posts. I don’t imagine it was the majority.

Not as good as these but I have messaged my dd's performing arts club whatsapp group requesting that they please turn the oven on!

It was meant for dh 😆

That's so random I love that 😂

@BedChem Did she remove the pic or the dildo at 11am - or both?

asking for a friend. 😶

Spat out my tea and howling with laughter!

No, but how many laugh emojis on people’s miscarriage posts are too many?

Clearly, anyone doing this should simply be banned from MN.

ShouldIpursuethisfurther · 28/06/2025 08:41

Have you seen the viral tik tok post where a mum posted her "growler" on her son's football team whatsapp group 😄 She deleted for herself, not all, so it stayed on there! The WhatsApp was obviously meant for her partner!

My brother accidentally sexted the family group chat instead of his (now wife, then colleague) and the first person to realise was me as I was reading it out loud for my mother who didn't have her glasses on

He's just about lived it down 10 years on 😉

That's the funniest thing I've read in weeks! 😁

TheKeeperOfTissues · 28/06/2025 09:23

I was having a flirtation with a guy at work. He was younger, but not that young.
I msg my friend discussing how I was in two minds, but he was seriously fucking sexy etc, equally he was young & not sure if he was a player.
Yep, sent it to him 😂 (we had a brief dalliance, no sexual chemistry)

My wonderful friend. She'd been invited to a ladies day by a fairly new man in her life & needed a dress. We went dress shopping. She tried on a really hideous dress for a laugh. I took a photo on her phone.
Back at the car in the shopping centre car park, she sent this picture to him, a wind up, like she'd genuinely bought it, to get his reaction.
Except she airdropped to everyone in the vicinity 😂
I still have the picture, but sadly we don't have her 😔

My ex SIL once gave me an old phone of hers with a video still left on it of her using a dildo on herself. I don't think she ever realised and I didn't say anything and just deleted it but I really wasn't expecting that from her 😆

Is that where you got YOUR username from?! 😆

I would be devastated 😂😂😂

I would have emigrated to Outer Mongolia 😨

Bandofsisters · 28/06/2025 11:50

I’ve got a few ( but none as horrifying as some!)

I once “replied to all” rather than just my DH when we received our conveyancing bill quote for our house sale. I complained about how expensive bloody solicitors are!

I once “replied to all” when some guests told me they were vegetarian on the day of their visit, when I had already shelled out for scallops, black pudding, lardons and steaks! My reply was just “Arghhhh!”

and on WhatsApp I once sent a saucy message to my son’s swim teacher.

Pah! Mortifying is groping your husband’s bum from behind and telling him what you want to do to him later… only for it to actually turn out to be his dad!!! Couldn’t delete that! Not quite the same but hope that makes you feel a bit better, OP x

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
