Just in after a long day and catching up. Sending my best wishes @MissConductUS. That must have been a shock and a half.

EllaDisenchanted · 18/12/2025 19:43

Oh dear @bizzey i think your elf is hiding!

@MissConductUS 💐

MissConductUS · 18/12/2025 19:54

Thanks, Hilda and Ella, it has all been a bit of a shock. I hope I’m home in time to celebrate Christmas. DD and SiL are flying in on Monday, and I’ll surely still be in hospital then.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 18/12/2025 19:54

Blimey MissC, I came to catch up on news and it’s all happening. I really hope all goes well. My neighbour had a quadruple (or maybe quintuple?) bypass many years ago and went back to his busy life and job afterwards and is doing great to this day. What a shock for you!

MissConductUS · 18/12/2025 20:06

Thanks, ZZ, it’s nice to know you’re still following the thread.

In some ways, a bypass is a better long term intervention than angioplasty and stents. Always look on the bright side, eh? 👍

it’s just really odd that I’m asymptomatic with the degree of arterial blockage I have.

Candle is a bit broke.

MissConductUS · 18/12/2025 21:36

Fabulous elf, bizzey.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 18/12/2025 21:46

Miss, any fatigue, mood change/depression, change in appetite? As women, our symptoms can be very odd and easily missed. Regardless, it was caught and you are getting the needed treatment. 🩷

@EllaDisenchanted wishing you and your family a peaceful Hanukkah. 🕎✡️
I have only made latkes once and should really do it again. 😋

I managed an official Santa pic of the kids today. Took them to a huge mall, Metropolis/Metrotown in Burnaby.

I was awake around 5:30am and managed to bake a banana bread before taking the kids to school, you know, as one does. 😁

Ella, athlete's lunch again today. 🙄
(poached eggs on brown rice with evoo, a bit of salmon and roasted yellow bell pepper.)
I love it, though. 🤷‍♀️

Oh @MissConductUS what a shock for you, but you are in the best place and hopefully 🤞 you will be home recuperating for Christmas. Sending good thoughts to you.

My SIL and daughter have spent the last two days de-cluttering and cleaning living room, kitchen, conservatory and bathroom! Played a blinder, it looks great now and the charity shops are going to benefit from this. I’ve also got quite a few toys and books that my grandsons have outgrown and hardly used which my DD can pass on to friend’s children.

I’ve managed to do a Tesco, an Ocado and a meat order arriving tomorrow, Saturday and Monday. My fridge has been stripped of all duplicates (and more) of condiments. Why would I have 4 jars of Mint Sauce? So now I thankfully have room for the fridge orders. The drinks will be going in a large plastic box out in the garden to keep cool.

While we were all in the living room today my stairlift decided to go upstairs on its own. It got halfway and then stopped. My DD went upstairs to get it, she used the remote control to bring it down, then it started to go back up on its own again and we had no idea what was happening. Half an hour later I solved the mystery. One of the remote controls was on the table in front of me and things had been put on top of it, so it was travelling up and down on its own because of the remote and thankfully not haunted!

I’ve had a bit of a very mixed emotional time this week. It was my OH’s late mother’s birthday and my mum’s anniversary on the same day. I spent a lot of the day on my own and felt quite sad. However, now my mood is back up, because my family will be here in 35 hours. I’m counting them down now 🤣🤗🤗 Can’t wait. They have ordered special meals and activities for the time they are here, so we are sorted now.

I’m loving the poached egg pictures. My favourite way to cook eggs, well my OH cooks them and I eat them.

MissConductUS · 19/12/2025 05:01

Crikey, hospitals are noisy places at night. Monitor alarms going off, mobile phones ringing, people chatting in the hall. I guess I’m spoiled living in the woods.

The hospital I’m transferring to has a bed for me, but I’ve no idea when transportation will show up. It’s a bit of progress.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/12/2025 07:51

Miss, I hope you have managed some sleep. 🩷
Uman, I prefer to think it was a ghost. I'm glad your spirits are lifting. 🩷

I took to dc to Martini Town this evening. I went for the first time last year and took Havoc. It was a bit spur of the moment tonight because the rain stopped. The forecast has rain every day through next week, so I figured now or never. Jeez the wind was scary on the drive out (storm again today). It was pushing the car as I drove over the bridge so that it was hard to keep the car steady (at 100kph). And, if you are keeping track... it was the same stretch of highway as last week when my contact popped out. 😵‍💫 Coming back Google Maps gave me a completely different route back to the highway. There's nothing like being a bit freaked out driving along an unfamiliar and dark country road parallel to the highway you want, can see and hope to get over to. On the drive back traffic slowed quite a bit and then we saw fire trucks and an ambulance. It was a horrific collusion they were attending to. Hor-rif-ic. 😳

Kids are still awake, so I put on Fred Clause. I'm also having a 2nd slice of walnut cranberry bread I bought from the bakery at the event tonight.

Those pictures are fab, havoc. Lovely Christmas decorations.

i made to thr new hospital in Manhattan. The cardiac surgery PA came by for a chat. If I’m a good candidate for it anatomically, it looks like the soonest they can do the robotic surgery will be Tuesday, which would have me discharged on Christmas Day if all goes well. The surgeon is supposed to stop by later. And my adorable male nurse drew five vials of blood.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/12/2025 17:22

Oh, Miss. What a way to spend time in Manhattan! Do you have a view? Have you eaten? Hoping you get surgery asap
and the best care. 🩷

I've got tonnes of pics. 😵‍💫

OP posts:
MissConductUS · 19/12/2025 18:19

The surgeon stopped by. I need three bypasses, which is apparently too many to do endoscopically, so they’re going to do open chest. The good news is that he said I’m an excellent candidate for the surgery, with a very low risk of complications. It will take about four hours and they have me scheduled for Monday morning. I should be ready for discharge on Christmas Day or possibly the next day.

The food is okay to surprisingly good. No view, but the care has been very good. This is a top tier hospital.

Ho Ho Ho 🤶

bizzey · 19/12/2025 18:22

Ohh my word MissC ...this is going to be a Christmas never to be forgotten !!
