I've never watched Sex and the city.
I've never read Harry potter.

Is there anything you haven't read or watched.
Sometimes I think things are over hyped.

BeNiceWhenItsFinished · 05/06/2025 17:34

I have never read Wuthering Heights.

I have never watched Peppa Pig. 😂

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 05/06/2025 17:55

Any book series where the ‘author’ churns out sequels every year.

There an author I really like who writes a book a year. He’s really disciplined and sets himself clear targets which he obviously manages to keep to!

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 05/06/2025 18:02

Never read - those court of roses books. I'm way too old for YA.

Never watched - A Handmaid's Tale. It feels dangerously close to reality at this point.

LittleBitofBread · 05/06/2025 18:03

Ddakji · 05/06/2025 16:32

We just found the characters all so deeply unpleasant, and just decided we didn’t need to spend hours of our lives with people without a redeeming feature to their names!

Even with White Lotus there’s someone who’s vaguely nice.

The thing about Succession is that, even though they're all quite vile, you can see that they're human. The writing and acting is fantastically good.

Personally, I've never read Harry Potter. Seen a couple of the films but don't feel the need to see any more.
Never watched TOWIE, Made in Chelsea or The Apprentice.

the80sweregreat · 05/06/2025 18:03

My sons were obsessed by GoT , but I didn’t hear the last of it when it ended so badly , apparently ( I’ve never watched any of it myself )

You haven't lived !

"Dirty dancing" is fantastic.

I agree. And so is To Kill a Mockingbird

KIlliePieMyOhMy · 05/06/2025 18:06

Whilst I've never put my hand in a blender to prove it hurts, I do like to try things, even of one episode. I read the first Harry Potter and didn't need to read anymore as I don't often read books for children. Tom's Midnight Garden or Lark are far better books.

Just watching Handmaid Tale.

Crinkle77 · 05/06/2025 18:09

Harry Potter, Jane Austen.

Fishneedscycle · 05/06/2025 18:10

Cannot stand fantasy so never read or watched anything in Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit genre, nor Game of Thrones (book series or TV), Highlander, Zombie things like The Last of Us etc.

There is some great YA fiction out there. There doesn’t have to be an age cut off!

OverpricedCupcake · 05/06/2025 18:13

Harry Potter, Star Wars.

amooseymoomum · 05/06/2025 18:15

I've never watched Downton Abbey or any of those period dramas
I have never read Fifty shades or want to

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 05/06/2025 18:16

MatildaMovesMountains · 05/06/2025 17:17

@ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews I also think she's a third-rate author - I like reading children's or young adult literature that's well written, but I found her books unreadable. That was years ago, before all the hooha, so I wasn't prejudiced against her.

Have you read The Casual Vacancy, or any of the Strike books?

Vitrolinsanity · 05/06/2025 18:18

Whilst I love JKR’s politics, I do think the later HP’s could have done with a savage edit.

Never read: Lord of the Rings etc
Never watched: Peaky Blinders

Not the kind of humans I want to waste my time on!

The early Harry Potter films are terrible, and the later ones leave out huge chucks of each book. Hoping for better things with the new TV series.

WhoPooedInTheFridge · 05/06/2025 18:29

I've never watched The Chase, Loose Women, This Morning, Judge Rinder, Tipping Point, etc. I did once watch half an episode of Jeremy Kyle to my detriment. I can't actually remember the last time I watched Itv unless it was snooker darts or football.

I've also never read Harry Potter. I tried Strike but as a speed reader they're one of the only books recently I've struggled with and gave up.

It's challenging, for sure, but it is fascinating. I think it would be very dull if all drama was about people one liked/agreed with.
There is also an element of fascinated horror in it; you do look at them and think about how vile they are. You also sort of think about how you're so much better. Which is pretty appealing, but also raises questions about one's own tendency to be judgemental.
Plus, sometimes it's extremely funny. Again, the acting and the writing are just top-notch.

You think actual authors can’t write a book a year? They can.

Not my point. But thanks for chipping in!

quirkychick · 05/06/2025 18:41

I've never watched:

Dirty Dancing - never got round to it at the time

50 Shades - nor read, really didn't appeal

Made in Chelsea/TOWIE/Love Island - not a massive reality fan, though I did watch early Big Brother when it was more psychological and love Traitors

Succession
Breaking Bad
Just haven't watched them, possibly on a streaming platform I don't have.

ExquisiteSocialSkills · 05/06/2025 18:46

Never seen:

Game of Throne
Bridget Jones
Dirty Dancing
Love Island/TOWIE/ Kardashians/Made in Chelsea

the80sweregreat · 05/06/2025 18:51

The Strike novels are good, but then I like Rowling’s books. Far superior to the films / tv adaptation.
I have never seen any Marvel / DC films or mission impossible ones. Not keen on action movies.
Never watched ‘the wire ‘ or ‘Succession ‘

Malvala · 05/06/2025 18:55

This is worse than the competitive undereating threads.

In the TV adaptation of The Casual Vacancy, they changed the bloody ending. 🤦🏻‍♀️
