I've never watched Sex and the city.
I've never read Harry potter.

Is there anything you haven't read or watched.
Sometimes I think things are over hyped.

OP posts:

LOTR
GOT
Downton Abbey
Bridgerton
Star Wars
50 Shades
Avatar
Titanic
Love Island
Drag race

SantaToSSD · 05/06/2025 17:00

I've never watched a lot of films/ programmes already mentioned but the ones that everyone else seem to have watched at least in parts, are Friends and Dirty Dancing.

Waitingfordoggo · 05/06/2025 17:03

Star Wars. Any Marvel films. Lord of the Rings. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Actually it would be much quicker to list the films I have seen. My husband loves movies and is always outraged when he quotes a supposedly well-loved film and I say ‘I haven’t seen that’.

AInightingale · 05/06/2025 17:04

I've never seen SATC either. It always sounded more like those eighteenth-century novels that pervy men wrote to titillate other pervy men.

We just found the characters all so deeply unpleasant, and just decided we didn’t need to spend hours of our lives with people without a redeeming feature to their names!

Even with White Lotus there’s someone who’s vaguely nice.

Exactly!

At least in House of Usher they all got their (very gory) comeuppance!

There are quite a lot of things mentioned on this thread I've not seen or read (even tried), there's definitely a difference though between something not really appealing enough to spend your time on (in these days of endless choices) and being sneery about these things without trying.

LillyPJ · 05/06/2025 17:05

Never watched Coronation Street - not a single episode.

HunnyPot · 05/06/2025 17:05

Any book series where the ‘author’ churns out sequels every year.

I always try to avoid being sneery about the things other people like because one of the most intelligent women I know (works in medical research doing things I can’t even pronounce, let alone understand) loves watching trash TV like MAFS and Love Island to switch off.

But, if I’m honest, there are some things I just can’t understand why anyone likes them!

Here4thechocs · 05/06/2025 17:10

Never seen friends or Game of thrones.

Gotback · 05/06/2025 17:14

Dirty Dancing
Footloose
Titanic

They just looked like tripe at the time & I'm way too old now anyway.

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 05/06/2025 16:50

What’s wrong with Jo Rowling? She’s an amazing woman.

I don't think so. It's ok to disagree 🙂

The latter two are terrible, and objectively speaking Dirty Dancing isn’t a great film, but I love it because it has a fantastic soundtrack and Patrick Swayze is all beautiful and rebellious.

MatildaMovesMountains · 05/06/2025 17:17

@ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews I also think she's a third-rate author - I like reading children's or young adult literature that's well written, but I found her books unreadable. That was years ago, before all the hooha, so I wasn't prejudiced against her.

the80sweregreat · 05/06/2025 17:18

Never seen ‘ star wars’ any of them.
Never watched any ‘ lord of the rings’ films.

Hatty65 · 05/06/2025 17:19

Never watched no end of stuff that people rave about. I'm not a big tv or film watcher. I have never seen:

Game of Thrones
Downton Abbey
The Walking Dead
Breaking Bad
Handmaid's Tale
Mad Men
Suits
Sex and the City
Masterchef
Great British Bake Off
The Traitors
Love Island

I've also never watched ET or quite a lot of films that everyone else has apparently seen.

Fairyvocals · 05/06/2025 17:22

I’ve never seen Pretty Woman. Not because I’m avoiding it but because we’ve never collided.
I agree with a PP about Succession and managed two episodes before deciding I really didn’t want to spend time with those people.
The Wire, on the other hand, is genius, and part of its genius is that nobody’s a complete hero or villain, whether they’re the cops or the crims.

NoHope4BobHope · 05/06/2025 15:47

Sorry ACOTAR- A Court Of Thorns And Roses series.

Never heard of it let alone read it 🤣

Never watched Game of Thrones.

Ddakji · 05/06/2025 17:27

HighLadyofTheNightCourt · 05/06/2025 16:39

Really? They’re aimed predominantly at women so I’d say it is the target market 🤷🏼‍♀️

YA. Though Maas is pretty hard core and I know her next series is being published by an adult imprint.

But most of Maas is published by Bloomsbury kids.

Endofyear · 05/06/2025 17:28

I haven't read the Harry Potter books but I love the Strike series by Robert Galbraith. I did watch Sex and the City back in the day and enjoyed it but not sure it's aged very well! I've never watched Breaking Bad which my sons think is brilliant, I'm just not sure it's my sort of thing 🤔

Ddakji · 05/06/2025 17:28

HunnyPot · 05/06/2025 17:05

Any book series where the ‘author’ churns out sequels every year.

You think actual authors can’t write a book a year? They can.

Summerisere · 05/06/2025 17:28

Line of Duty

I actually feel jealous of all of you who haven’t watched Game of Thrones or Succession as one day when you want something to watch you may choose them.

Gilead · 05/06/2025 17:30

Mad Men
GOT
Anything by Dan Brown
Fifty Shades
Breaking Bad
Anything by Jilly Cooper.

CleaningAngel · 05/06/2025 17:30

Moveoverdarlin · 05/06/2025 15:44

Lord of the Rings
Hunger Games
Game of Thrones
Harry Potter
Star Wars
Doctor Who
The Simpsons

Omg I could have written that list!! Ditto

LlynTegid · 05/06/2025 17:30

Star Wars.

PorgyandBess · 05/06/2025 17:30

I’ve never watched a James Bond movie.

Much as I like and admire JK Rowling, I left the reading aloud of Harry Potter to my husband.
