I can't believe what I've seen. It's truly horrific, some of the videos are so graphic. Standing with LFC fans tonight. #YNWA

Yes. Why have the other two threads been hidden though?

I assume there was speculation on the other threads, and we must not do that

Interested in this thread?

I’ve just seen the video on X taken from the rooftop. DS9 and I went to the Tottenham one last Friday. Stomach churning horrific evil shit.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 27/05/2025 00:41

most of it was factual.

And the update from 1030. Police saying not terrorism.

Presumably because the speculation was getting out of hand.

justasking111 · 27/05/2025 01:14

Living in north Wales it's a city we've visited many times their football team loved by many Welsh. It's a wonderful city, it's people kind and generous with a warm sense of humour. To have this today, words fail me to be honest.

I can't imagine the fear family and friends of the victims are going through.

Completely agree. I think hiding the other threads is such a cop out. Would they have hidden the other threads if the attack was in London? No probably not

uncomfortablydumb60 · 27/05/2025 01:32

I tried to post on the deleted thread as " post is forbidden" I only said I had a friend in West Derby village who was there for the start of the parade and he couldn't understand how the car had got through.
I feel so sad for the lovely people of Liverpool, once again the focus of tragedy
My heart goes out to the injured and their loved ones.

The other threads were hidden because of the speculation on them and things being posted that were at best hearsay.

Tempers were also getting frayed and some posts were becoming personal THATS why it's been hidden. And it would have been hidden wherever the incident had occurred.

coastergirl · 27/05/2025 01:39

I live in Southport. Half of my son's class and their families seem to have been at the parade, some of them were extremely close to what happened. I still don't know if they're all okay. It's less than a year since the awful attack where three little girls died just down the road. I have no words. I just hope everyone is okay.

StevesLavaChicken · 27/05/2025 01:42

It’s close to me and I’ve seen all the posts and videos on FB. The majority of the comments are more than casual racism, though it was an older white guy driving. Maybe that’s why other threads were removed? The guy is in custody. I can’t help but feel angry that the first response from those who weren’t hit wasn’t to try to help the people who were injured. They went on the bounce to try to drag the driver out of the car and attack the car itself with their fists. One guy audibly told a police officer that he was going to “fucking kill him”. The police were fighting to get past the adult males attacking the car. Surely your first thought would be to run to the victims and do anything you could to help them. It’s the mentality of the few that let the rest, who were lucky to have not been hit, down. It’s commonplace around here to kick off first and ask questions later if they even bother to. Thugs can’t make a terrible scene any better for anyone when they’re shouting, screaming and trying to smash their way into the car. It’s a scary mass reaction but somehow deemed as normal around here.

alexdgr8 · 27/05/2025 01:48

Surely they were trying to stop him continuing to mow people down.
The average driver on realising they had made contact with a pedestrian is to get out and check the situation. This guy continued driving or tried to. They stopped him.

Toddlerteaplease · 27/05/2025 01:49

One of my friend's adult sons had a narrow escape from it. The police screamed at him to move, fortunately he did. I’d tried to get a hotel room there tonight and had been surprised at not being able to get one. (This was pre foot ball win) Liverpool is a wonderful city, going in the morning instead. Thoughts are with everyone.

I’m so glad your friends son is ok. My hospital was briefly on alert to take patients who were
admitted before the major incident was declared so that Liverpool hospitals could focus on the victims of today’s incident. However we’ve been stood down now so I’m hoping that’s a good sign that they can deal with everyone without diverting patients to us. We have had east mids ambulance service dealing with patients in Manchester tonight as north west ambulance service is busy in Liverpool. That’s a scary thing to compute

EmeraldShamrock000 · 27/05/2025 01:57

I'd like to say that I am shocked but this method of mass violence by car is happening too often.

Absolutely heartbreaking for the people of Liverpool. Thoughts are with those who are hurt.

Absolutely bloody awful

Thank you. This definitely needed saying after what was written on the other threads.

There weren't any racist posts on the earlier thread (I don't think anyone would actually do that anyway as they'd know they'd be removed immediately by MN) but there was a lot of speculation straying into misinformation on occasions (like claiming there's no way the driver was 53, ffs! 🙄 ).

I am happy that they managed to stop him ramming more people.
I'm sure other people helped the injured.

Mardychum · 27/05/2025 02:21

I like the way it’s okay to speculate about the men videoed though. They were trying to stop him carrying on by the looks of it. Of course they’re going to be in fight or flight when they saw it ram human beings next to them.

nex18 · 27/05/2025 02:27

The representative from NWAS specifically thanked members of the public for helping the injured. I think it’s reasonable to assume that different people reacted differently and played different roles in their response to witnessing this horrific incident.

Zoflorabore · 27/05/2025 02:32

I’m from Liverpool and support the other team so didn’t get involved with the parade but know so many people who went today. Thankfully all safe and well. Another one who is struggling to understand how that car was on Water Street as it was all blocked off but am sure the details will emerge.

lots of rumours and speculation on local social media which hasn’t helped, people saying 6 fatalities etc when there aren’t any thank god and others giving names who they think the driver is whilst not realising the wider implications.

it seems to be an isolated incident. Feel sorry for the victims and those who had to witness it. Also many people are stranded after being unable to get home but hoping our good city will pull together and help people out.

Even when the man was arrested, some men were being dicks to the police trying to get at the van he had been put in. Just thugs not helping at all.

coastergirl · 27/05/2025 02:45

So many Scousers are offering lifts, places to stay and other forms of help to people stranded in Liverpool. ❤️
